" There needed to be more people like him in the world, but maybe with a bit more independency."
Hikaru thought Of course the only reason Hikaru was thinking about the man's lock of independency was of course he need a job. Hikaru understood he owned a store but for the most part he seemed ot be one of the most frequent people requesting things in Era. Thankfully Hikaru wouldn't be there for much long and would take his leave quite soon. Hikaru looked at the request now curious as to what it would entail. He was an owner of an Inn so it came as no shock his request. One of his cooks quit which was unfortunate. However he needed to find a replacement.
Hikaru wasn't sure if his cooking would be as good as a cook but it was better then having no help. He needs someone to fill in so he can search for a replacement so Hikaru figured he would simply do it. Upon arriving Hikaru would shake hands with Barta.
"I heard you needed help."
Hikaru said to Barta. The man scratched his head and laughed before speaking.
"Yeah, you know people are just unreliable now in days but it seems like you're quite reliable. Anyways could you help me out?"
Hikaru nodded and Barta guided Hikaru to the kitchen. Upon arriving there were some people in there, but they seemed to be quite young. Maybe they were just looking for a side job. They all seemed like people who were happy to work. Barta knew Hikaru was a Rune Knight so barta quickly commented on his reason for having people in the kitchen and why they couldn't work.
"These children all come from less financially stable homes so I offer kids jobs like these. Small chores, but you know. Making the world a better place"
Hikaru genuinely enjoyed the man. He had gotten on the Lieutenants good side and Hikaru just hoped the man would stay there forever. Barta Gave Hikaru an apron and he took off most of his nice accessory and wore his skin tight suit. He took the apron and tied it around his waste. He walked over to the kitchen and began familiarizing himself with all the utensils and where all the ingredients were. He took mental notes on where to get certain things. Finally once he opened up for the night he got rushed with orders. The first one was 2 wings. Hikaru took the chicken and of course boiled it first, then breaded it and proceeded to cook it. He fried it making two beautiful wings. The skin was tender, and of course the chicken would be white on the bottom. Hikaru looked at the order and put the two wings on a plate. They were massive. He took a side of french frieds from the frier and put it next to it.
Hikaru looked up seeing the waitress and slid it to her waiting for the next meal to come his way. He was a great cook, and he was going to prove it. He wanted Barta to not only be happy about the service he's paying for but he also wanted people to enjoy crocus and their food and come back because Barta gave back so much to the community, he didn't want to ruin the reputation of such a stand up guy and his inn. The next order was 3 Hamburgers. This was Hikaru's specialy. He tossed three patties on the super hot oven and watched as they sizzled. He took a spatula flipping them ever so often to get the nice tender color. Each one was juicy, and Hikaru cooked it in a manner where there would be a little pink but not a lot. He waited for it to finish cooking. As he finished cooking it, Hikaru took 3 buns and tossed them all on the stove warming them up. Upon warming them up he flipped them tossing a burger onto each one. He took the bun and took it off putting it on a plate. He put ketchup mustard and mayo on every single one, then lettuce, and grilled onions on each one making them the perfect juicy burgers. Each one was served on a different plate.
They looked amazing and Hikaru really wanted one himself but figured that he should finish cooking first. The next thing was a hot dog. Hikaru took the hot dog and tossed them all on the grill He took a knife maknig small holes in each one to make sure they all got cook well on the inside. He would push them down the grilll and roll them back and forth while cooking to make sure the cooking was even. Hikaru took several buns and toss them all on the grill There were 5 hotdogs and 5 buns. After heating each and every single one he took the buns off and put them on a plate, 5 different small plates to be exact. Hikaru then took ketchup, Mustard, onions, mayonaise and relish on the hotdogs. He looked at his product and nodded to himself standing proudly. Hikaru finally got the last order of the night as the inn began to close down, a baked potato. That would be easy. He wrapped it in tin foil and put it in the oven for 50 minutes before it was ready. Hikaru took out the potato cutting it in half. He put sour cream on it as well as butter and bacon making it look just as good as it would probably taste. Hikaru took the plate and gave it to the waitress finally completing the order.
Upon completion Hikaru met up with Barta. It was one of his last few days in Crocus so Hikaru shook his hand and collected his reward. It was midnight and Hikaru was tired. However he had just made money so everything was fine. He walked out glad he got to be a waiter just once. However to be honest he preferred the life of a mage.
