Saewoo stood on the arena, as the crowd roared below. They were waiting for the match to begin. Saewoo waved his hand, addressing the crowd. "Ladies and gentleman, I introduce to you, the first round of the Martial Arts Tournament! Our contestants this match are.. Rowan and LeeAnn!"


Saewoo then hopped off the arena, allowing the contestants to come up.



  • Standard site-wide combat rules apply.
  • Post participants have 48 hours to initially post in this thread, then 24 hours every post after that. Should a participant take any longer than this, they should be disqualified. In addition, a substitute may also step in in the event this happens, but only at the first post of the match In the event neither post within that time, both are disqualified and substitutes will advance to the next round.
  • The first post should be both participants entering the arena, and starting the match on the second post.
  • The arena is of solid stone, and circular, with a 20 meter diameter. Ring outs, however, are not in effect. The arena elevates off the ground roughly 2 meters, and has stairs leading up to it.
  • All other tournament rules as detailed in the event page apply.

Just beyond the edge of the arena, Rowan was going over his attire just one more time to make sure he was in his best shape. His black jacket had been appropriately stitched, his matching black pants showed no sign of wear, and his black dress shoes were polished to a shine. He carefully flicked off a speck of dust from his white shirt underneath his jacket, and straightened his dull, yellow tie just for good measure. He had made sure to look his best for the first martial arts tournament, and he would ensure others remembered him if not for his fighting then for his looks. However, he did not intend to go out of this tournament without a few wins under his belt. After all, his comrades back in Orchidia were surely cheering him on.

Once the announcer had called out his name, Rowan made his first steps up into the arena. He waved to the crowd with a sterling white smile upon his lips. The cheers brought out a slightly less refined side to the young man, but he made sure to maintain his composure as much as he could. Taking his place near the center of the arena he offered greetings to his opponent. "An honor to make your acquaintance. Let us both do our very best today."

LeeAnn arrived in Baska today. She stood in teh entrance way to the arena with stairs leading up to the main platform. She wore her hair in a high ponytail today with her marking on her left side. She wore her black jacket with the magic council symbol and black pants with tennis shoes to make it easier to move around in. She looked at her wedding ring. "Win or loose. You are still strong. Its all in good fun..." she told herself. Emerging from the darkness of the entrance, her bright crimson hair shown to all of the crowd. Those who knew her name as a Nakamura cheered out her full name. Happily, she waved as she stepped out of character completely. In the crowd she saw the floating white kitsune, Hans her fiance, and her friend Concord in the crowd. A small, amused smile shown as she waved. Her teammates were cheering her on. The thought about her brother and Konstantin really unsettled her then her cousin Alek hitting on her.

She saw her opponent. He looked rather strong and would make her day with a decent match. LeeAnn made her way to the center of the arena as she shook his hand with a challenging smile. "Yours too! Rowan, right? Let's give it our all, I want a match that will make my day" she smiled.

Rowan nodded to the red haired girl after their greetings were through. She seemed to be cut from a similar cloth as him, at least in strength. He appreciated that, it meant he would receive a real fight for the first time in a good while. He took a moment and rolled each of his shoulders in succession to loosen up his joints. When he was finished he readied himself in a rather neutral stance. His feet were spaced evenly, and his body held tall. One hand was behind his back, while the other held just beneath his waste with his palm facing his opponent. Rowan was not one to typically begin a confrontation, and he hoped that his demeanor might set LeeAnn into a more offensive form which he could use to his advantage in a number of ways. Still, he wouldn't remain on the defensive for long if he could avoid it.

LeeAnn stood back. A formal agreement they both wanted a good, clean fight. Something to make them both remember from this day forward. A good day this would be. He appeared to be about the same strength as her. Not bad. She looked forward to this fight as she remembered the long days of training as a Page and Apprentice. The redhead took a two meter space between her and her opponent. She looked prepared to stay where he was. The redhead was not stupid to do a direct attack. She would bounce on her feet to keep herself going. LeeAnn

She grew some bravery to remain along the outskirts for where he was. LeeAnn lingered around him at the same distance of 2 meters and used more of her speed to kind make quick dodges in case he would come out of his defensive stance. It looks like she wasn't going to take his nice gesture to go in on the open opportunity to take the first hit. Easily, she knew that could be a bad start.

Rowan watched LeeAnn with a very close eye, and he realized that she was anticipating his own tactics, and mirroring them. She was light on her feet, and that made her dangerous. She was moving in quick pace to keep him from being able to get in too fast. This would make things slightly more difficult, but only slightly if he was being honest. He dropped his hands and switched tactics. Twisting his right foot ever so slightly he pressed back on the earth and shot forward in a quick dash which would cover the space between them in less than a blink. He was forced to go low, and aimed a leg sweep right into her ankles. Her pacing had kept her loose, but an opening strike such as this was unpredictable to say the least. If she hit the ground he had a palm strike prepared to hit her right in the chest. If not, then his opponent would have the next move. Either way, he had initiated and there was no way of going back now. He couldn't hesitate any more, not with an opponent like LeeAnn. This battle was riding on too much for mistakes, and Rowan wouldn't allow himself to slip up.

LeeAnn knew he was taking her bait. With a careful eye, she saw he was pressing forward seeing he was switching tactics by the looking of his feet. She had the movement of a boxer. LeeAnn was a quick reactor. The movement of his body was about to swoop low. Quickly, LeeAnn would jump to the right of Rowan. The redhead took attempted to go on his right side and rolled to his blind spot. At least she dodged the first attack. Off to a good start, now stood behind Rowan. LeeAnn didn't hesitate and lunged forward with her foot to his back. Her plan was to put him on his stomach or have him land his face. It was a faulity plan, but she wasn't much for a tactitain that was her brother or Selena. Give her orders and she would do them. Give room to plan for a strategy. Taht was not her strength, but this was combat using the first reaction.

Rowan admired this girl's strategy. She evaded his attack well, and sought to use his blind spot against him in a solid blitz move. Unfortunately for her, Rowan was rather accustom to such flanking maneuvers. His time spent on the farms at home often left him outnumbered five to one when it came time to bring the pigs inside after the day was done. He opted to use the simplest way of shaking off an attacker from the rear. Throwing the full weight of his body backwards while maintaining his position close to the ground he hoped to achieve the same ends as he had planned before by tossing his weight into LeeAnn's legs. It was a solid plan considering he held the element of surprise, but LeeAnn was proving to be a tricky one. If things went further out of Rowan's favor he may just have to step things up and use some strategy rather than just going off his gut instinct. After he had tossed himself into her, Rowan would roll forward roughly a meter before standing up and dusting himself off. He had known his suit would get dirty, but to have it happen so quickly was a bit disheartening.

She to seem not think straight about this one at all. Though, she was pure instinct and the noise from the crowd didn't seem to help either. The hearing of her ears was sharp today at least that was good. Her foot felt to go backwards as she quickly could see Rowan using his weight to shake her off. Quickly, she would attempt to jump with using his weight to the advantage to jump back at least a good meter making it at least 1 meter away from him. It was just the small things to get her by until there was a good opportunity to set a strike.

Rowan smirked like a sly fox as his plan went off without a hitch. He had worked hard to learn many different styles of fighting due to his lack of major magical talent, and it was beginning to pay of in spades. LeeAnn had put another meter between the two by leaping off from his attack, but he didn't so much mind the distance as he did the implications. He wasn't wide open for an attack, but it made staying on a pressing offensive a bit more difficult. The red head was moving about with cat-like reflexes, obviously due to the difference between their races. Even so, the Lamia Scale mage didn't believe she would have an advantage in the next few moments of the bout.

Making his move only moments after standing up the blonde shuffled in quickly with a feint towards LeeAnn's face. The punch was a diversion, and he would make sure it never connected. His true goal would unfold as he wrapped his leg around her left leg and pulled her weight out from under her. Using this, he would pull her into a full crushing move which would cause some significant damage. This style of fighting was more akin to wrestling, but given it was still a martial art Rowan didn't believe anyone would really mind.

LeeAnn saw he was playing something sly. She could see him doing a punch as.she leaned more her right leg for support to help dodge.the punch. It was more of a distraction to break her focus from him slipping something up. His left leg pulled her right on her back as she fell on her back quickly she saw where this was going. LeeAnn rolled to the right to dodge the. Finishing blow. LeeAnn would attempt to do a side kick in his knee cap harshly. As hard as she could, she.took his to make it while she dodged. She did this with her left leg.

Rowan didn't let up his relentless assault while LeeAnn fell to the ground. She had rolled to avoid any hope he had of landing a body slam type move on her, and she was trying to keep him away by kicking his own legs out from under him. A marvelous strategy, but one anyone might expect from someone so clearly trapped. Pressing his advantage, Rowan opted to simply take a solitary step back to avoid the flailing kick. He then moved to LeeAnn's left side which, while perhaps not fully exposed, was certainly more available now that she was on the ground. He would aim a swift kick into her abdomen, but keep his left foot well planted behind him so that he could pivot to avoid any lower counterattack. He did not wish to allow this fiery young woman any openings if he could avoid it.

24 hrs has passed and Leeann has been DQ'ed Rowan moves onto the next round.
