She was discovering the city again, avoiding the request board in the town centre. They were around the theatres and Alice decided to have a look around. Before she could see anyone or ask what performance was tonight she heard some sort of yelp and she quickly picked up Ophelia and headed that way. Before anyone saw her, she could see two people, one was dressed like she pretended to be a princess, must be one of the actresses. ”What do you mean Carlos called in sick? I don’t care. The performance is already tonight. We worked so hard on this. We need a stage hand. You better fix a new one Leo because I’m not going to sit here and wait till the right opportunity of my brilliance is passing by. Did you have any idea how much work it is to know all the lines and then such an easy job as a stage hand calls in sick on the big night. Even if I had a broken leg I would be here and..” The girl didn’t seem to know that not everyone was able to go on and as the wording go: break a leg. She held her breath to not sigh out loud, someone on her left hand appeared, looking in distress, ”Alice? Alice where are you?” Alice herself stared with big eyes to this new guy. How did he? But the girl that had been screaming or something along the lines turned to look at the guy that stood now besides her, ”Yes Jerry?” She said as if she was the sweetest girl on Earth, that’s when she noticed Alice.. not that she knew, ”Who are you and what are you doing here?” the girl said with not a very nice tongue, ”Oh me. I’m Alice as well and me and this little one over here accidently entered the theatres. But I heard you have a problem, maybe I can help?” She shrugged, to indicate she had nothing better to do. The other Alice her face cleared as she understood the situation far more quicker than the two males, with a sugar sweet voice she asked the girl with the same name to come closer and take Alice with her through the theatre and explain everything a stage hand needed to know. The timing of the curtains. She gave the last sentences after which the curtains would have to close, unless applause wasn’t finished yet. And how to activate the lacrima for the light. Well when that was all done, Alice had some time to practice and watch the hectic ways of the theatre. She put Ophelia in her little backpack and waited for the show to begin. It was like having the front row seat, only at the back of the stage. She could see everything very clearly. Actors and actresses hurried along her to get to their stage and enter the scene. Which was interesting, she had never seen Romeo and Juliet before. She had to close the curtains when sets needed to change, from the ball room to the balcony scene and she had only once had to activate the lacrima to follow the other Alice, playing Juliet, all the time around. Which was weird, the play wasn’t called the Juliet, it was Romeo and Juliet. But the Romeo guy apparently wasn’t so important.
When the performance was over and done with, Alice shut the curtains, raised them once again to get the applause and dropped them again once the actors and actresses all left the stage to get out of the uncomfortable clothing. The Juliet-Alice showed up to pay her the money that came with the job even though Alice some sort of had volunteered. But she was absolutely not going to complain about it. She heard Juliet-Alice giggle about the fact that they had the same name as she was making her way to the back of the rooms. Well that was a good thing. Besides she seemed to be in a much better mood.
