SEKIYA MANJI It brought her joy to know that people were gathering and honoring this god. It felt as if it was lost to time not too long ago, but recently people praised the Nameless God. She was happy for the change, but she asked why this happened. What were the others doing? Did they know of each other's existence or was that only known to Sekiya? How did this gain this following? Who was preaching the teachings? She came to this shrine, buried off the paths of the garden. This one stood tall, and seemed to be newly carved. Unlike the others, there was no engravings, it was plain and smooth. A plaque stood beside it, flowers littered the floor around the stone lantern and several candles were inside of it, all of them lit. Each one burning from a different time. "STONE SHRINE OF YUKIROCHISU. YUKIROCHISU WAS ONCE HAILED AS THE GREATEST AND MOST POWERFUL WARRIOR. SHE WAS KNOWN FOR HER KINDNESS. DURING HER TIME AROUND X285, SHE WAS KNOWN THROUGHOUT THE LAND AND HAILED AS A GOD. SHE OFTEN LED OTHERS INTO BATTLE, AND MADE SURE HER ALLIES WENT HOME UNHARMED. SHE FELL ON THE BATTLE FIELD IN X393, HOWEVER IS RUMORED TO BE LIVING, PROTECTING OTHERS ELSEWHERE." She stared at it. That was not the name of her god. "Huashimamasumé" she repeated, "Why do you allow others to pray to this false god? " She laughed at the idea of it. "Yukirochisu." She smiled, it was a familiar name, like that of a child. "Who is to say the truth. I have gone by many names and lived many lifetimes. Perhaps this was my name." The voice came in as fast as it departed. Sekiya stood there, staring at the plaque. She wondered what would become of the others. She thought about what she really honored and followed. Her god was nothing more than a powerful spirit, but wasn't that what gods really were? Powerful beings. Angels were spirits of good, demons were spirits of evil. What was the god without a name? What side was she truly fighting for? 345/X (Travel to Magnolia )

THIS IS NOT THE WAY ALL OF THIS IS WRONG. WE WERE ALL WRONG. It stood, the tallest and the mightiest of them all. Out of all of them, only this one was maintained and bore her name. She stood before it, her sword beaten and dulled, but still forged to destroy. She would hold in within her right hand as she would read the plaque, almost mocking it. "Yukirochisu," she scoffed at the title, "She was never the most powerful warrior. She was nothing more than an aide." She shook her head, trying to ignore her buried feelings. A smile was shoved away and ignored. "She is a cruel god, with a taste of torture, and a hunger for blood." She continued to read, trying to picture her leading anyone home safely. She shook her head of the thought, only able to picture herself. That was the cost of the god. No one knew how she looked, only how she made them feel. She was someone you could sense and talk to, but never see. To see her, was to see your own reflection. She took her blade and wedged it behind the plaque, only to pry it off. She did not touch the shrine, taking the plaque would already render it useless. It was a place to the unknown. She would let anyone come here to relax and ease their minds. For now, she would let this one stand. [Exit] WC : 227 |
