It was colder this morning than it had been previously. The sudden change in temperature made Ianthe’s nose a bit stuffy but other than that she was fine. She didn’t want to get out of bed though, the warmth from her usual mountain of covers kept her trapped in pure bliss. Ianthe wanted so much to fall back to sleep but the sunshine said hello and there was a knocking at her door that wouldn’t go away. “ Ianthe? I know you’re in there wake up doll. “ The voice that seeped into her room belonged to a newly made friend by the name of Garrett. Garrett was the owner of the Inn, a tall man with great big muscles and a reddish beard that covered the bottom half of his face. Ianthe had offered to help around the inn for a reduced price on her room and Garrett was happy for the help, since then the two had become closer and she was proud to him as her friend in this town. “ I don’t want to wake up….I want to stay in bed. “ Her voice held a tiny whine too it as she tucked the covers around her body she could hear a hearty chuckle from Garrett. “ If ya don’t come out ya won’t get my breakfast surprise.” Upon hearing that Ianthe sprang out of the bed, throwing the covers off so suddenly they flew across the room. Food was always a great motivator to get up and Garrett knew that to be true. “ Ok, ok I’m up. Give a few to get ready please. “ Garrett chuckled once more to himself “ Thata gal, breakfast will be waitin for ya when ya get downstairs in the dinin area. “

Ianthe didn’t take her time getting ready like she usually did. She took a very quick fifteen minute shower, put her hair up in a ponytail held with a black ribbon and quickly threw her clothes on. She almost hesitated to bolt out of the room because at the moment it was quite a mess in her eyes. She could smell the delicious food rising up from downstairs and promised herself she would come back to clean her room once she finished eating. Upon arriving downstairs the whole place was empty, something that never happened. Strolling over to the bar area she waited for Garrett to come out, which he did shortly after she arrived and with her plate of food.
“ Hey Gare? Where is everyone? This place is never, ever this quiet or this empty in the morning or really ever.” Digging into her plate of food she could feel herself melting inside. Garrett’s Breakfast Surprise was a garbage dump of eggs, bacon, sausages, grits, all thrown together and on the side was half a stack of pancakes and the other half of the stack was french toast. “ Well Ianthe lots of people have gotten sick and the hospital is overflowing… I’m not sure of the exact details but maybe you should go down there and see if they need any help. I hear the doctors down there are so overworked they can’t even get medicine to people not in the hospital.”

Ianthe could only nod her head in silence as her mouth was full of french toast. It was curious that something that sounded that serious could happen overnight. Finishing up her plate she thanked Garrett and rushed down to the hospital where she was greeted with by a doctor.

“ Ah you must be here for an examination, step into my office please. “ The doctor was a rather tall man with short white hair and piercing red eyes. He sounded like he was in a rush and looking around at all the nurses and doctors moving around she would probably guess right that he was. “ Oh no doctor, I’m not here to be examined, I am in good health. I came here because I heard you might need some sort of help. Looking up from the clipboard he seem to pull from know where he looked relieved. “ Well thank goodness, come follow me and I can explain everything and what I need you to do. It’s an errand really but I cannot seem to get out of this hospital and all more doctors and nurses are far too busy to leave themselves, mages won’t come by either because they are sick or too afraid of being sick. I assure you what’s going on here is not contagious. “ Ianthe followed the doctor’s long stride, almost having to speed walk to keep up with him. For all the time she followed him she had to dip and dodge the man people who were in the hallways until they got into his office. The doctor offered her a seat and began pulling out two white bags with different labels on them. “ I’m pretty sure these people have been poisoned. It maybe the drinking water but I’m not one hundred percent certain. Hopefully all of this mess will die down soon. In the meantime I need you to deliver these two bags to the correct people.” Placing the address on each of the bags, the doctor sent Ianthe on her way.

Looking at each bag she decided to go to the closet address and deliver that one first. The walk from the hospital to the address wasn’t too out of the way. Ianthe was careful as she walked through the streets of Baska. She knew that these people needed this medicine so she quicked her pace while taking the shortest route that she could think of. Upon reaching the first residence she knocked on the door and an older woman came out with a sort of white mask covering the bottom of her face. “ Hello, I am here to deliver your medicine mam. “ Handing over the bag to the woman Ianthe made sure not to drop it. “ I hope you get well soon. “ With a smile and a nod Ianthe made her way to the second address which was much farther away than the first. It took her almost an hour to deliver the medicine but she did it and with much of the day left to spare. Once the medicine was safely delivered she made her way back to the hospital, receiving her payment and quickly making her way out.
