It was yet another beautiful day in Oak, and Jian had just finished his business dealings in a nearby shop. During his time in Sin, Jian had been trained in the basic uses of multiple weapons, however, after having traveled to Fiore from Sin he'd been left relatively unarmed. Though he still held formidable martial prowess whilst unarmed, he still felt a bit "naked" without a weapon to arm himself with. Thus today he'd set out to find such a weapon.

He'd traversed from shop to shop with this endeavor in mind, and hadn't been able to find quite the shop that he had in mind. It wasn't until he ran into one last shop that he found himself falling in love with a weapon being sold there. It was a weapon he was quite familiar with - a spear. He'd been trained in the use of pole-arms since he was but a child, and the prospect of using a weapon that was so decorated in Sin gave Jian a sense of nostalgia. It was then that he decided that he simply needed to purchase this spear. Luckily, he held enough jewels through the work he'd put in with Jiao to afford the spear. Sadly, it was much more expensive than he'd expected it would be.

It was strange, how a person's outlook completely changed the way the perceived the world around them. The day offered nothing that was staggeringly different to any other, it was ordinary. Yet, all Akira saw was drabness. She couldn't seek the happiness in the warm glow of the sun, she sought no satisfaction in the soft breeze that funneled its way through the streets, tickling her scalp, causing her hair to flutter. Her attention flitted from one disappointing detail to the next. She noticed the peeling paint on some of the structures she streaked past, the stench in the alleys, the sneer on the faces of some haughty, wealthy folk that merged into a blur as she continued to sprint on...

Finally, she stopped running. Her hands fell to her knees as she doubled over, panting. Tears stung her eyes, but they clung to her lashes, as dearly as she clung to her sanity amidst all the sheer disappointment. It was sad, that her assessment of the day, relied so heavily on the emotions in her heart. Her feelings had very little to do with what was around her. They stemmed from circumstances that she could exert no control over. The lack of control brought with it another dose of frustration, this was a very steep downward spiral... As she caught her breath, her head snapped as it turned swiftly, to see if her partner had managed to keep up or not. Damn it! Now, where did Tsuru go?

A slight frown found its way upon Jian's lips as he watched the jewels he'd worked so hard to obtain disappear behind the store's counter and into the pocket of the shop owner.

"A pleasure doing business with you, pal! Here's your weapon!"

With the transaction complete, the shopkeeper quickly placed the spear across the counter in front of Jian. Before leaving the shop, he felt it was only right that he inspect the weapon one last time. Of course he inspected it prior to purchasing, however, if he were to bring up a complaint with the weapon after having left the shop with the weapon in tow it would have been harder to argue a flaw. The weapon seemed to be completely in working order - Jian even thrusting into the air with the sharpened tip of the spear in order to gain a good feel for the weapon. Though this was a sturdy enough weapon, it was obvious enough that this wouldn't be something that would be durable enough to last him for the entirety of his time in Fiore. He'd have to upgrade his arsenal quite a bit more if he was going to succeed in his mission.

Now, she had no intentions of screaming Tsuru's name like a banshee, although that probably would be the swiftest way to go about it. How did she manage to lose him? How could she lose an entire person? The girl was not in a state to be too hard on herself though. Naturally, after her sudden encounter with Dante, she'd panicked... She just bolted as fast as she could. Though the two had started together, perhaps they'd managed to get estranged at some point and Aki just failed to notice it. Helplessly, her eyes scoured the streets, narrowed, she pinned every face her gaze roved over. In all fairness, spotting him wouldn't require such scrutiny, but in her slightly frazzled state, she possessed some sort of a hyper-focus, perhaps because she still felt targeted.

Everything and everyone could still be a threat... Dante could've just been playing around with them, scattered them into the wind, so he could pick them off one by one. With the speed, he'd displayed, if he wanted he could catch up with Akira in mere seconds. Suddenly, she felt a prickling sensation on the back of her neck, the kind that one feels when they're being watched. Sharply, she turned, fearing that the Phantom may have followed her after all... Thankfully, it was all in her head. She composed herself and noticed the smithy. The lunar mage was now compelled to buy herself an armor... But first, she really needed to locate the healer...

In order to buy yet another weapon, Jian was well aware he'd also have to put himself through a level of work far exceeding what he'd gone through in his recent days with his brother Jiao. Though Jian wasn't put off by the idea of "work" in the general sense, he did find the requests and missions they'd taken on recently to be far too "boring". He couldn't imagine himself continuing to go through such menial tasks forever. Maybe it was simply pride and arrogance getting to him, but he felt he held the skills to take on jobs that were a tad bit harder than what they'd currently been working on.

Now armed with an actual weapon, Jian felt that this, in combination with his magic, would be enough for him to at least tacking C-ranked requests - hell, maybe even B-ranked requests. He allowed himself to calm down a bit from the last suggestion, as he knew in his heart he wasn't quite ready for such a level. Confidence in your abilities was one thing, being suicidal was another. Jian was no fool. He knew exactly what he was capable of, and he'd use this gauge in order to continue to push himself to advance and grow stronger.
