Entering the messy office, Zane looked around for the detective. "Hello?" he called out, wondering if anyone would even answer. The whole place looked like an absolute mess. It felt like a pig would live here, not a person. Resisting the urge to gag a little, the detective awoke, arising from behind a pile of books. "Ah, sorry! I was having a little nap. You're here for that job, right?" Zane couldn't help but feel he had gotten himself into something that was going to be pretty tedious. "Yeah... lemme guess. You want me to clean the place?" The detective snapped his fingers at Zane, dramatically emphasizing he was correct. "You're right! Let's get cracking. I'll do a little bit of it too."
Zane figured he had no choice but to get to work. At least Weirdlock didn't go and run off or something like that. Having a bit of extra assistance was nice. Zane and Beelzebub chatted a bit in their head as Zane would put garbage in a bag as he scanned the office for it. This felt nice. Not the garbage part, but the fact that he would have someone to talk to with Beelzebub in his head. It wasn't like this at all before, so the change of pace he got by having a voice in his head to chat with was certainly a welcome one. Zane also noticed a few details on cases Weirdlock had been working on as he cleaned up. It was about rival gangs. That sounded really cool.
Zane would pick up the books and paper along the floor now. The guy who worked here was so lazy that this part took wayyy too long. Dusting it off a bit near the end, Zane let out a sigh of relief. The things he did for such a low payout... being thanked by Weirdlock, Zane happily took his pay and got the hell out of there. He certainly didn't want to play the maid ever again after experiencing all of that. Seriously, that detective should really learn how to clean up after himself... Zane hoped the office would be less of a mess if he ever decided to return to it one day.
