Masami
The unfortunate part about Hosenka City is that they didn't have shrines. Even for a non-religious child like Masami, he had gotten used to religiously performing shrine rituals and being taught how to perform and conduct each part. Like culture, it remained in his heart, and not seeing that said culture in Hosenka had left Masami in empty space. Hosenka City is Joyan-themed but not Joyan enough for Masami to fit in, even if he had never fit in before. Now that his adoptive mother had left without a word apart from being called by a client, he was finally back in his solo player routine, and he didn't know whether he'd feel the liberty—the exact same feeling as when he left Joya for the first time—or feel culpable as to feel a non-Joyan person's blood rush through his veins... what will they think back home? To repent for such a sin, Masami visited the border of Hosenka City to look for an abandoned shrine. He was about to meet a client, a Joyan monk who was looking for a place to stay in outside of Joya. The shrine that had impressed Masami certainly wasn't as abandoned as he expected. Surely, it was old, but not abandoned. Right on time, the monk had finished his chouzuya ritual, and Masami cared to join him as well. The pavilion was still clean and well-taken cared of, even if it was old, however it was scented of shabby burnt wood. "Good afternoon," the Joyan performer greeted with a small bow, and the monk did the same. "Would you care to tell me more about this shrine?" When Masami looked around, mainly the roofs of the shrine's structure and saw how it was nested by birds due to inactivity and oldness, he became rather more fascinated than he already was.

Masami
The shrine had a completely different atmosphere than Hosenka City itself, which was probably why it was abandoned. People didn't like keeping traditions as a group, not unless they were from a country of where it truly belonged. Fiore wasn't Joyan in the first place so Masami would understood why it wasn't innovated. "It's an old shrine, as you can see," it was an obvious statement, "not until the shrine breaks down, the deity inside will remain forever."

"Who is the deity of this shrine?" Unbeknownst to Masami himself, the deity of this shrine was the one who had watched him the most, apart from the demon soul that remained in his body. The monk had understood this and laughed in reply, and Masami couldn't exactly understood why. His lip corners forced him to awkwardly smile at the scenario, as he didn't know what to do or say. He knew that monks ranked high in positions, thus he had to know his place and lie low. "What is so hilarious?" Masami finally asked; instead of directly replying to Masami's question, the monk steeped away and waved a hand at the boy. "Come, follow me. We will be cleaning the main hall," then he left Masami by the pavilion, taking the broom that leaned upon one of the wooden walls and stepped inside the shrine's floors, leaving another broom for Masami to take, who had assumingly did as the monk had expected. More cleaning, a part of Masami's mind complained, but his mouth had avoided pouting accompanied with the slight murmur. He instead followed the monk as he was told to; making steps upon the stone stairs and finally, his wooden soles tapped a beat when he entered the shrine's main hall. The floor was dusty and the walls weren't as shiny as the ones from Joya, because nobody was able to preserve them until now. Which is why Masami is here, right?

Masami
"Sir, you know me, do you not?" Masami had a reputation in Joya; surely, this monk had a reason why he wanted specifically Masami help him to clean this old shrine, or could this monk have answers to Masami's questions? The monk didn't hesitate to introduce himself, "Call me Izanagi-san," surely, he did not want to be referred as "the monk" and instead be referred to as his name, but that said name didn't ring a bell to Masami's mind—other than the deity of creation in Joyan mythology, although it wouldn't make sense if Masami had faced an actual deity—sort of. The monk—Izanagi—had turned the broom into a long spear, and pointed it at Masami. "Let's see how flawed you are, Kita Masami," his tone of voice had changed, as well as the wind current that swept Masami off of his feet, causing him to feel an abrupt push that swayed him to hit the wall before falling to the ground.

"Come on, stand up," the monk spun the spear that had caused Masami to stand up as he commanded, only to get thrown to the other side and not giving him enough time to react. "Agh... sto—" again; "Wai—" again; "Help— again. It happened again and again, as Izanagi was mean enough for the flawed boy to comprehend. In the center of the shrine's hall, Masami was risen up, as if he was being choked by thin air. The occurrence was awfully familiar as it made Masami reminisce of when he fought with a man named Kenzo Valens, who left him hanging from then on. Is this what the monk wanted to show Masami? How flawed he is? His form had burnt when he let his demon soul take over, now they were forced to dance with the devil.

Masami
Masami, who was now in his take-over form, no longer panicked when he looked down on the monk as he was risen in the air. Magic circles danced around the top of his head, keeping him in place when he uttered: "Let me go, monk," it was rather an order than a request, what did he expect from the prince of demons? Even though Masami was held in place using magic, he knew that if he had stopped sustaining the spell, he will once again get thrown away by Izanagi's gushes of winds, which he can directly feel through his skin. "If you don't, I'll break your shrine down," he wasn't bluffing. Surely, if Izanagi doesn't let him go, the shrine will not just break, but it will definitely burn down into nothingness, and Izanagi will have no way of restoring this occasion. "Better flawed than a hypocrite—wait, you can't understand me, can you?" Speaking in Fiorian whenever the demon soul takes over, Masami had almost forgotten that he was speaking in Joyan a while ago, and it must have been the only language that the monk understood.

"I can, demon," whoops, looks like he could, "you may drop down now." He picked the spear and turned his back against Masami, as well as turning the spear back into a broom, then he'd proceed back into cleaning the shrine as he ought to do in the first place. Just like as the monk had said, Masami stopped sustaining the spell that kept him in place and dropped from the sky back down to the floors—and he was unable to land properly. "Ow," he groaned afterwards, apparently it didn't leave quite a good memory from the Library of Jousho, then picked himself up, "you just wanted to force me into this state, didn't you?"

Masami
He was flashy, completely abandoning the broom that he ought to use in order to clean the shrine. Now that Masami let the demon soul take-over him, he had automatically let it take his actions over, as well. His hands lay around his waists and was in a very relaxed state. "What, you're gonna ask how I got into the kid's body, didn't you?" That's what they usually ask, but the monk apparently had a different view. "No," was what the monk replied instead, "you do not recognize me anymore? Stupid kid, you don't even remember your own teacher." Even in a grumpy state, the monk continued to sweep the floor as he'd roll his eyes at Masami, obviously disappointed without even facing the boy to make things clearer. Masami's face had lit up, "Oh! Of course! Izanagi-sensei!" He was going for a hug when he ran towards the old monk, but he was slow enough to let Izanagi mutter a spell and use the wind to push Masami enough to throw him out of the shrine. A mean attempt to get rid of one's student, sure enough.

Masami had picked himself up as if nothing had happened, treating the situation lightly. "How have you been, sir?" With sarcasm, the broom was once again in his hands and then he'd occasionally sweep, not wanting to get dust in his body unlike the normal Masami would be willing to do. The monk glared at him and asked: "Do you not remember why you came here?" Well, of course Masami remembers, which was why he laughed and shrugged in return. "Not that it matters, anyway? I've been getting so many misfortunes that I lost track on who I am! Imagine being adopted by a woman who cared less about her own children, as if they didn't even exist? That makes my blood boil!" It turned into an uncontrollable rant, but at least, with the demon soul taking him over, he had expressed himself with no limits. Pride—was it the word? Had it made him confident—overly confident, in that matter? "If you're willing to become my teacher again, then remind me."

"Remind the two of you," he corrected, "a messenger—yes, I came here as a messenger. After you find the cure, look for your father. I will be cooperating with you." Why did Masami have too look for his father? That sound had interested him; not that he held grudges, it was just that the term was so underused that it absolutely doesn't ring a bell into Masami's ears. "Aren't we supposed to clean the shrine? You're talking big! I like that," he raised a hand and called forth a gigantic one, in which he used to sit on and relax as he lets the monk clean the shrine by himself instead of helping out. "I've met a woman who was wise enough to know about certain cures, an herbalist, perhaps. Do you think the cure has a relation to that?" Now, things were getting serious. Was Masami finally going back to the right track, and did he need to spend more fragments of his soul just to get on with it? He didn't notice that his sharp eyes glared at the monk, ready to strike him dead if he lied.
