It really shouldn’t be a surprise though. He had never once said that he would only ever work exclusively for the Martellos. And if they wanted to ensure that his services were reserved only for them, they would need to pay a ridiculous sum. Why would he possibly pass up on perfectly good jewels? Simply because they were from the family he’d been working against, with another crime family? No way. Not a chance. Yes, he had enjoyed working for the Martellos so far, and he would happily do so again, so long as they continued to pay him well, but that never meant he would only ever work for them.
During his jobs for the Martellos, he had developed a particular disdain for Vincenze Tessio. From what he could see, the man needed some serious work with his security and safety measures. It had been far too easy for him to break into one of his cash houses, and to tag many of the man’s safe houses. However, despite how little he thought of the man’s actual capabilities as a mob boss, so long as they paid well, he would happily look past that.
