Rania was spending the day in bed, or so it seems. She had plans for today, but the Paladin felt tired from the previous night. She had traveled all the way to Era Town in order to look for a job or two, to ease her back into the way of things. Rania had plans on stopping by Hargeon Town and the guild soon, but for now she wanted to learn and get used to being in Fiore again. The raven haired woman had spent the previous year away from this country in order to travel to her homelands and while that experience had been very enriching and overall fulfilling, it was now time that she returned to her duty. Rania wasn’t a lazy person per se, but the travel had worn her out and now all she really wanted to do was to rest. But there was work to be done and she knew it. The Paladin had every intention of going out there, making some easy money and then seeing if there was anything that she needed to buy. Being a person who came from absolute nothing, having money was an absolute luxury and she really enjoyed spending it. Although at this time, the mage was rather happy with her equipment. She was still looking for that one special item that she truly needed in order to feel more powerful, but that wasn’t the main goal. The main goal for today was just to get by so that she could go home soon.

Era was filled with the Rune Knights again. They had disbanded for a while or so it seemed, but now they were back and stronger than ever. The crime rate in this city had gone down remarkably, but that didn’t mean that there wasn’t still some work to be done and Rania knew this. There were always jobs at the local quest board for random passersby to take care of and she planned on doing exactly that. Rania got out of bed and got herself ready for the day. She was, as per usual, equipped with her trusty Hierophant Staff and all of her other items. She had quite a few magic spells up her sleeve, so most of the time Rania didn’t really worry about herself or getting the job done. At least not when it required something as simple as taking care of a few thugs. She went out and went straight to the quest board that was located somewhere in the middle of the town. Rania had been to this place in other cities many times in the past, the concept was always the same: people who needed help would put up a flyer here at the board, someone who could help would pick it up and then get the work done. It was literally that simple and today would be no difference, the Paladin was sure of it. When Rania approached the board, there was already a lot to choose from, which was good.

There was one quest in particular that caught her attention. A woman named Margaret needed her help. Or anyone’s help for that matter. She was a rune knight who was residing in Era town, which was really nothing unusual. Rania found the situation that the woman was struggling with to be almost comical however, but she decided to help her anyways. According to the notes she had left on the flyer, she needed someone to guard her for the day and that the other details would be discussed in private. Rania really couldn’t think of any reason why a Knight living in the middle of Era would need anyone to guard them, but she was eager to find out what the story was and thus she went to see for herself. Rania went ahead to the address that was listed on the flyer. It wasn’t too far from here, maybe a 20 minute walk that Rania could do quickly. There, she knocked on the door and met with the blonde knight shortly after. The paladin could immediately tell that this woman had a rather strong personality, but that she was good at heart. And the problem that she had was almost funny to be honest. Apparently the higher ups didn’t believe that Margaret was doing any work. They took her for someone who was lazy and just chilling in town all day. According to her, none of that was true of course. But the higher ups didn’t believe her.

Because of this, she wanted to hire a person to follow her around all day and write a report on all the work she was truly doing so that the higher ups would believe her. For some reason Rania didn’t think that was going to work - why would the higher ups believe a random stranger that was hired for money over their own knights. That logic in itself already didn’t make any sense, but Rania decided not to question it. The pay was good anyways and she was also kinda curious to see what kind of life a rune knight was living. A day in the life of a rune knight didn’t sound so bad and thus she agreed to do the job. And for all we know, maybe there would be something interesting happening after all! Rania then started following Margret around town as she went by her duties. Much to the paladin’s surprise, she couldn't really understand why someone was doubting this woman’s abilities, as she was easily one of the most hardworking members that Rania had ever met. She was completing lots of small jobs and tasks and most importantly: she was there for the citizens of this city. Rania was actually rather impressed with how good this woman was at her job and she made sure to write it all down in her report. Margret was also acting like a proper professional and the paladin had no reason to complain about this woman’s worth ethics - but she could see how the higher ups were a bit more critical of her attitude, this was an important position after all.

It was then that something else happened. They were walking down the street when Rania and Marget ran into three thugs outside a club. It was in the middle of the day and even though clubs were more meant for night time entertainment, especially in this area, the club was opening and serving snacks and drinks to their daytime guests. It was a perfectly normal thing to do here in Era, but what wasn’t normal was the three thugs standing outside the club and yelling loudly. Rania already got a bad feeling just by looking at them and she was later able to confirm that they were looking for trouble. She was the kind of woman who could never understand why people were like that, but it wasn’t really up to her to judge them. She only needed to take care of them. It seemed that the thugs were bothering a young woman who looked like she could have been the waitress of the establishment. Not wanting that woman to feel any unnecessary amount of stress or discomfort, Rania approached the man quickly with her staff in hand. The knight followed her of course, but apparently the thugs weren’t taking them seriously because they were girls. That had happend to Rania before, but she would rather be unterestimated than overestimated and at this point it really didn’t bother her. They noticed the rune knight but before they could run away, the paladin decided to teach them a lesson and use her magic on them. Words wouldn’t work so she didn’t even bother. They didn’t appear to be intimidated, but certainly surprised by her ability.

The thugs were so surprised that neither of them started an attempt to run away. Instead, they were just eyeing Rania up and down, probably thinking that she was just another pretty girl. In the meantime Margret went ahead and called for help, and before they knew it the thugs had been caught. It was a good day and Rania was very satisfied with that result. The waitress also seemed to feel much more comfortable now that those people were off the streets. Maybe they would stop bothering others all together from now on. With that sort of mission being completed, they continued on by their day but nothing else happened. Margret was still completing a multitude of tiny tasks and Rania couldn’t help but remark how hardworking that woman was. She made sure to note it all down in her notebook as well. The report she wanted to give Margret later was filled with only good opinions of her. At the end of the day, Rania handed Margret the report and was given some money for her troubles. She was apparently very happy with what Rania had written and hoped it could convince the higher ups to cut her some slack. Rania was glad to have been paid for such a simple job and went home shortly after.
