Poropo Poproporp
Poropo was relaxing at the beach by himself, watching the people from other guilds enjoying themselves. There were guild members from all sorts of guilds playing at the beach and socializing between the big events such as the Dinosaur Hunt and the Beauty and Handsome Pageants - the guilds involved today seemed to be the obvious ones such as Fairy Tail and Empyrean Divine, but also Blue Pegasus and the Rune Knights of all people.

The monk did not know many of the faces aside from the ultra celebrity guildmaster of the Empyrean Divine guild, Karisa. She was a radiant figure but not a pure one - Poropo had strict standard for what constituted purity while other times the monk was in a position to have lower standards. In this case, Poropo just did not know the guildmaster of Empyrean Divine well enough to make any firm judgements one way or the other.

"I will simply sip on my fruity drink and continue reddening my skin - it has been too long since I let my skin soak up the warmth of the sun," mumbled Poropo as he reached for his beach-themed drink - an alcoholic, mango-derived drink. Nothing special aside from the alocohol which the monk would need be careful not to overindulge in.

The relaxing monk soaked in the radiance of the sun and the wonderful people who were relaxing in their own way. While relaxing, Poropo thought about what he might do at the beach aside from watching and waiting - the monk wanted to avoid the ocean since he could not swim. As a large but short man, he was not even sure he could float properly without flailing or drowning - the ocean waves would surely swallow the frail, old Poropo and then the riptide would suck him further into the depths of the salty waters.

"I would surely die if I swam...siiiiip," said Poropo after which he sipped on his bright-orange drink. The sun was beating down but the monk was used to the harsh rays of the hot sun - being a farmer meant working outside all day and resting for a short time at night. The early morning was normally the only reprieve a farmer would get from the harsh sun while working, but even then the weather of Sin was not favorable. Thankfully the shadows of the jutting mountains provided shade to the lucky farmers who not only lived close to the mountains but also grew special plants to stay farming under the shade of the tall peaks.

The day was not getting cooler as the monk was starting to feel the intensity of the irradiating sun - Poropo's skin was starting to sweat more than redden, but the monk was determined to maintain his special shade of skin color in order to remember his roots. The roots the monk wishes to preserve are those originating from his time as a the son of two farmers from Sin - his father was a Sinese farmer while his mother was from another country which the monk could not remember the name of.

While attempting to position himself in a way the sun would not bake, the tossing and turning monk remembered the story his parents told him about how they met long ago - Poropo's was trying to earn land in a different country, Poropo's mother's country, but instead met the monk's mother and shared a debt with each other. The debt was made in order to move back to Sin and start a small rice farm - they became part of the community, had a few children which included Poropo, but were never wed. The old monk's parents were gone from this world and the farmland went to his siblings to take care of. The monk did not want to farm anymore now that he had magic to help people with and the spread the word of the Iron Deity.

"Hey, we need another for a game of volleyball - wanna join?" said a youthful guild member to the sunbathing Poropo - the heat was getting dangerous to stay underneath for much longer and the youths seemed eager to see if the rotund monk would join for beach volleyball. The monk got up from his chair, clasped his hands, and prayed for a fun game.

"Oh Iron Deity, let my frail body survive being obliterated by a volleyball," mumbled the monk, ending his prayer with a bow and waddling behind the youths towards the volleyball net. The youthful guild members from guilds the monk did not know of gather around and chose their teammate one at a time. Poropo was hoping he would be chosen last - he had the mental fortitude to withstand being picked last while the youths might not be so experienced.

"How about him - he's probably great at volleyball," shouted one of the two team leaders, pointing at the confused monk with expectation - the monk was not exactly picked last to his surprise. The monk was chosen first for whatever reason and the monk felt a strange sense of pride. Unfortunately, he knew this pride would be shattered the moment he had to touch the volleyball.

The team which chose Poropo had lost miserably! The moment Poropo was tasked with doing a simply tap of the ball to start the point, the fragile monk nearly broke his hand - the monk collapsed in pain and positions were rotated reluctantly. Eventually Poropo was just dead-weight and left on the sidelines while the rest of the team was down a player - beach volleyball is a harsh sport and the other team was showing no mercy. Whatever guild these youths were from must be harsh or just require more toughness than Poropo is used to - Fairy Tail is relaxed in comparison to these extreme, young people.

Poropo was left behind in the sand as he attempted to recover from his near-injury - the monk was sad he could not meet the oddly high expectations of the young guild members. Perhaps they knew of a person who had an epithet like "Kind Monk" and believed Poropo must be this amazing person - Kind Monk Poropo was having a hard time swallowing the idea his reputation might be getting too high for his own good. The more jobs he completes, the more people seem to recognize him for one reason or another - the title "Kind Monk" was easy to place on someone who looked like a monk, like Poropo.

The monk decided to spend the rest of the day walking along the beach and enjoying the sunset - the monk did not have an eventful day at the beach, at least not as eventful as other guild members. The beach volleyball was a short experience which Poropo was still feeling sore, at least physically - Poropo did not know how to feel emotionally about failing to meet expectations. The monk was not even sure why those youths believed the old, rotund monk would be any good at volleyball - perhaps they were using magic while the monk just did not know using magic was allowed. The youths were playing exceptionally well - perhaps using magic in a sport was normal for guild mages.

Regardless, the monk was watching the sunset, sometimes looking at the wet sand and turning over seashells, and thinking about his growing reputation. While wandering the beach, the monk was approached by the youths once more - they seemed to be anxious about something, "Um...about the volleyball game - you ok? We kinda just left without asking and we feel bad about that - you are Kind Monk Poropo, aren't you? We thought you might be good at stuff." The monk's reputation, in fact, preceded him - perhaps the youths expected secret power from a short, round monk.

The monk was happy the youths came back to Poropo and explained the situation - not knowing information had made the monk questions himself and his growing reputation. The monk was not wrong about his reputation growing larger than himself, but perhaps being recognized was not so bad. Poropo waddled closer and clasped his hands in prayer, "I thank you for inviting me, Kind Monk Poropo, to play volleyball with all of you. I also want to apologize for not meeting your expectations - I do not have any athleticism so I solve problems using words or magic."

The youths seemed to slip out of anxiousness and into satisfaction - they were happy to know the reason Poropo was called the Kind Monk. The youth who seemed to speak for all the other young guild members looked back to his party and then to Poropo again, "no need to apologize - we were assuming too much about you from your reputation...by the way, what is the magic you use?"

The monk was glowing with enthusiasm to show off his magic to young guild members, "I would be more than happy to show you!" Poropo then proceeded to summon the First Immortal, a metallic angel from the ranks of the Iron Deity's legion. The First Immortal felt used by the monk, but at least the angel did not have to do anything other than exist until further instruction.

The youths seemed oddly satisfied by Kind Monk Poropo displaying his magical abilities to them - they left after some odd words, "thank you for giving us so much to work with, Kind Monk. We will see you later." The monk was too happy to have been able to show off his magic - he completely missed the ominous tone of the youths when they were leaving.

"Oh, no problem - may the Iron Deity bless you," prayed the happy monk as the youths walked off suddenly - Poropo could learn to take some social cues more critically, especially when those youths came from a different guild than Fairy Tail. However, the youths were gone and the monk was too busy being happy waddling along the beach, turning over seashells, and thinking about how his reputation preceded him.

"I like being known for things - especially good things," mumbled the monk as he turned over a beautiful seashell to have a better look - the monk was not one to disturb how things are when he finds them, especially if they are pure. A washed-up seashell was pure enough to observe but not take with him - the monk did not collect things other than magical spells from the Iron Deity, "oh Iron Deity, please bless this wonderful day with more beautiful seashells."

"I hope my reputation remains a positive aspect of my existence...oh Iron Deity, please bless my reputation," mumbled the monk to himself as he turned over another seashell. The sun was getting ever closer to setting and the monk did not know what else to enjoy during this Empyrean Divine event - a beach was a beach, nothing much to say for someone as lonesome as Poropo. The lonely monk wanted to enjoy himself with others, but he did not want to risk any awkward interactions again - the youths were apologetic, but the monk did not like being apologized to for something which was basically his own fault.

Meeting someone else's expectations was important to the diligent monk - being known as Kind Monk Poropo or just Kind Monk put a simple and easy to execute expectations on Poropo's heart. All the Poropo would have be was a monk who happened to be kind. Poropo kept waddling and turning over seashells, eventually thinking about his jobs as a spy, "am I no longer kind if I am mean to villains? No, that cannot be - I am being kind to them by forcing them out of impurity...yes." The monk was making himself feel conflicted despite trying to enjoy the easy activity of flipping over seashells.

At the end of the day, the beach event was not technically complete - the event would last for weeks, but Poropo would not be visiting this Stellan beach again. However, the monk did enjoy himself while watching other people enjoy themselves - the monk was satisfied with other people being happy rather than finding happiness for himself. However, having had enough time to think to himself about what the youths had said just before leaving, the monk finally seemed to understand the ominous undertone with which they spoke, "hmmm...see me again later? Why?"

"May they think I am worth seeing again...but why? I did not meet their expectations and I only showed them the First Immortal - did they believe I was not capable of more? How strange," mumbled Poropo to himself while flipping over another seashell. To the monk's surprise, this seashell was off compared to the rest - this seashell had a darker color with ominous lines creating an unnatural pattern of swirls and scratches, as if a child used a stick to carve into the shell. The inside of the shell was smooth, like any beautiful shell, but was colored crimson like, "blood?" The monk did not want to think anymore about this seashell and just kept the shell in place rather than keeping the thing flipped.
