The request took her by surprise, for more than just one reason. Vyra stood there, unsure of exactly how to quite respond. Was she to be happy? Upset? It was difficult to entirely say towards all of it, but having been given a formal request as a member of the Blue Pegasus Guild, Vyra was not sure if this was to be felt when receiving the task. It was not her first request in the sense of having taken a job; she had done them before, having taken jobs while she was simply just a guest of the Blue Pegasus Guild, but those had simply amounted to only her being forced to do difficult physical labor, and jobs which paid poorly by comparison. Even this job, without having gone through and seeing the actual tasks that were involved within this job, she could not take her eyes off of the payment that was anticipated to come out of this, far more than what she had been offered in times past.

It made it very enticing, if not impossible for her to not say yes to the task, a sense of eagerness in her voice as she departed with immediate advancement towards the area that the contract was designated for. At the Hargeon Docks, a place that she often had found herself being at by her own decisions, but now to have been her first job here, it was something that left a smile on her face with a sense of eagerness as she headed towards the area. So much had changed and developed since she first arrived in Hargeon, and the way the people of the docks received her was just another example, but those had never been within an official capacity, but now, she was coming to them as a Blue Pegasus Mage. It would be the first time, but perhaps not the last. That would remain to be seen, and while she thought of the future, she made a conscious effort to remain focused upon the present.

When Vyra arrived at the docks, she would have expected to have been involved with the people who were working the docks, some of whom she had come to know to varying degrees, but it turned out that in fact it was nothing of the like. While she expected to have been met by one of the foremen or perhaps even someone who hailed from the various trading companies, instead she was met by an older man who claimed that he was the one who had gone ahead and put out the job that Vyra was there for. Apparently word had reached of a new Blue Pegasus wizard, and while this was not exactly a job that they had envisioned a young girl like Vyra would have taken, the man expressed his appreciation for the gratitude and willingness that Vyra had shown, not just towards the docks in her time in the city, but also for the job that she was about to undertake.

It was only then that she actually realized the sort of job that she was getting, in particular being the construction of a sort of ship for someone, one of the supposed nobles who had made no qualms with their problems towards the people of Hargeon, including even Blue Pegasus. It was a difficult spot that Vyra found herself in, as much forced to go ahead and accomplish the job, all the while knowing it was for someone who would be as willing and inclined to just view her with the admonishment that came with people like them. They were the people who would talk behind her back, criticize her existence, or worse even having the gall to simply say all of it to her face. The ones most inclined to say that she was Alisa’s Pet, those people she loathed with great disdain. That she was forced to help construct a ship for one of these people, it left a poor taste in her mouth.

It took some time to reflect upon having to whether or not it was a job that she could have reliably done without making her worry about her own sense of duty. Yes, she was a Blue Pegasus mage now, but was she supposed to throw away her honor, her sense of what was right in the interest of wealth? Though she was not thrilled by it, she did find herself being able and willing to take the job, rationalizing that even though she may have hated the idea of helping a bigot like this, it would have been something that as much as even she would have hated it, Alisa would have taken this job too. The fact was, it was good for Blue Pegasus, and more than even that, it was a job that Alisa would know that Vyra would have hated to do, and to do that, to step outside of her comfort zone, it would mean all the more to Alisa than just simply finishing a job.

Biting her teeth throughout the job, it was a difficult one, one farm more taxing than she had first anticipated it being. Rather than just helping with the construction, she had essentially turned herself into an instrument of manual labor, retrieving no shortage of materials from various warehouses, some of which were located within the docks and the area immediately following that, some of them in areas that she was a good deal different compared to that of where she would have preferably would have gone. Venturing to the more distant areas of Hargeon was hardly something that Vyra was keen on. Having to do that to help out a spoiled rich child was even more detestable. But, as she knew Alisa would be hardly in favor of hearing Vyra doing something to bring trouble, Vyra simply went along with it. She knew that the money that was to come out of it, it ultimately would have made it worth it.

The cumulatively more difficult part of the job was after all of the materials had been taken care of, all of the materials that had been gathered and forced out in hopes of having to acquire all of the goods, it had resulted in one singular thing, a bunch of materials with people who had very little interest in crafting a ship. Even Vyra, who had made no secrets in hating the process, couldn’t help but appreciate that the others within the docks seemed to echo some of that behavior. However though, much like why Vyra was working there in the first place, the fact that there were jewels at the end of the this tunnel, and for that matter quite a bit of jewels – although she did not know what she was making relative to that of these workers, but they all were effectively working towards the same thing, all working to get paid. It just so happened that for reasons beyond the money, Vyra seemed to care more about it than them.

But, however they may have felt, or even how one or two of them may have felt towards the operation and work on this ship, it was all agreed upon basically that the job had to have been done, but for some reason, the idea of using Magic, even though Vyra hardly had any sort of reason to believe that her Magic would have actually enabled for the helping of the craft of a ship, felt foolish. An example of the blanket ignorance that was applied towards Magic, with everyone thinking that a simple cast of a spell, no matter what it may have been, would have bene something that may or may not have helped in the creation. That it was something that was viewed with such villainous contempt was something that Vyra doubted she would have understood, even if she were more knowledgeable towards all of this. End of the day though, if they wanted to just have the ship crafted by hand, it was something that they were going to get.

Throughout the day, Vyra and the dock workers slaved away at the work, constructing the ship and thought there was a sentiment of accomplishment at how the ship was being made, there was an equal amount of frustration and negative sentiment that was being built towards it. Whatever was done, it wasn’t enough. Whatever wasn’t done, it should have been. Vyra simply continued to work, not expecting to have done as much labor as she found herself doing, but fortunately for her it seemed that the dock workers were mindful of this and provided aid towards doing much of the physical labor. Vyra still did her part, but it was largely handled by the dock workers. After a lengthy working through the day and almost into the night, the ship, while not finished, was done enough to set up a basic frame that would have been handled later on. For Vyra though, she had accomplished her goal and the nature of the job she had taken. While the rest of the dock workers left to rest for tomorrow’s labor, Vyra collected the payment for what she had been tasked with and departed.
