Finally after all of his travels across the country, moving from the center of Fiore through the wild wild west and to the North, Alejandro was back home. Crocus is where the Wood-elf grew up and he felt safest here if you didn't count the forests. After visiting his mother he was ready to get back into action, though it was a shame that his father couldn't see him. His mother was completely wowed by how much the wood elf had changed so chances are his father would be too. Perhaps they would catch up another time. The Captain was fully rejuvenated and ready to spring back into action. He hadn't actually got the chance to use his new gun as much as he wanted too. The wood elf stood atop a building in the dead of night and watched over the streets of Crocus, while happy remained at home.

Things were continuously moving forward for the night and at such a fast pace. He was already a candidate to be the next captain commander of the secret services department. Kingsguard was just a lick away at this point. Just a month ago he was a page and already top of his class. Honestly he never really took the time to analyze the path in which he walked. At some point he just decided that he would be better off on auto-pilot, starting from the day he first killed anyway. They were werewolves who had been feasting on the people outside of Dahlia, yet they were still living creatures. Alejandro would have never imagined himself as a leader in the Rune Knights organization, yet here he was leading. No longer was this job just about making an impression and building the family name. Now more than ever he was in the position to impact the community around him, the world around him. It was a pressure that he had to endure from the moment he joined the organization.

Tonight was a very special mission. Alejandro's superior requested his presence to keep watch of Crocus city in the night, because amidst all the chaos and destruction happening throughout the country, there seemed to be another foe lurking in the shadows. This specific foe has yet to be named but apparently they were creating monsters unlike anything they had ever seen before. These creatures were different because nobody had been able to catch a glimpse of them. Every night they came into the homes of those sleeping and stole their life forces, literally. Every day there were people reporting to the Knights that their loved ones woke up shriveled like a cigarette after you stepped on it. It was a pressing matter. The council didn't want to make a big deal about it to the public though, at least not yet. If word spread that the country was facing another threat the people would have likely lost their minds.

Alejandro wondered what could be doing this though, out of all his research in and outside of school he had never heard of such a phenomenon. If he had to guess, he would assume that whomever or whatever this entity was, they were only getting stronger. The elf stood on the roof as their black cape flapped in the breezes of the night. Contrary to what he usually wore, this cape only sported the Celdrua sigil on his shoulder. Jobs like these were dangerous and it was important people didn't connect the pieces pertaining to his identity. Corvo's Mask covered his face and Alejandro was able to see everything clearly. With his eye, he was granted a peculiar form of vision that would allow him to see the mana of all those he gazed upon. The stronger the mana source was the higher it vibrated and of course when it was weaker it vibrated normally.

With this eye he could do good in catching these nameless ghouls. The elf could only wonder if tonight would end the way he imagined. It was a good day when a Rune Knight could patrol the streets and nothing crazy happened or popped out of nowhere. The Knight continued to scan. Happy was upset that he couldn't be here but Alejandro didn't want to take any chances. Sometimes having him on the job only made his job harder. The Stellan wasn't a person of many weaknesses, but when those he held dearly were in danger it made his emotions get the best of him. Happy understood though, he wasn't actually a Rune Knight after all. It just so happened that Alejandro was allowed to bring the Exceed everywhere with him. The blue Extalian was likely at home, eating, reading and preparing for bed if he wasn't sleep already. Alejandro decided to move on to the next building to further scope the area.

All of the Knights in his platoon were stationed around the city. Should they pick up any strange movement they would surely relay the message. If tonight proved to be unsuccessful in finding this invisible fiend then there was a lot more work he'd have to do on top of the work he was already doing, he couldn't have that. So, for tonight he would work hard to find the enemy. As the Elf moved they suddenly caught a glimpse of something flash by one of the buildings about thirty meters away. Reflexively they sprung into action and began to run towards the flash. "I have eyes on a target, over." Alejandro tapped the Lacrima device in his ear. "Copy. Is backup needed, captain?" Alejandro leapt from one building to the next, following the source of mana that zipped through the city. Oddly enough the mana source was black, contrary to the bluish hue most mana sources had.

Alejandro took a while to respond. This was just one out of possibly many other...shadows? "No. Stay in position and keep an eye out for others. These things are black, I believe that's why none of us can see them. I'm gonna find out what this is up close. Over." Alejandro said before placing both hands upon punisher. He moved as silent as he could and would only shoot this thing when he was close enough not to damage the surroundings. Last thing he needed was to shoot a bullet through someones window and kill their beloved child or something. It wasn't easy to keep up with this creature though, it was fast. Every turn it made was sharp and smooth but one thing appeared to be clear; this thing was looking for something. It didn't have a face, or a real form, it was more like a shadow.

However the Elf knew that somehow this was a living creature. Suddenly the black spirit like creature stopped and slithered inside of a closed window. It moved like smoke. Alejandro crouched and aimed his gun towards the window, zooming in to see what it would do. He had a clear shot and he could take it now if he so wished, however, the man in his bed would have to suffice as a test subject. It was important to see how this thing worked. The shadow like being floated above the sleeping woman as if it was analyzing her and then it slithered up her nose. Slowly but surely the woman began to reduce in size, being drained of everything inside of her. What was worse was that she didn't even wake up during the entire process. It was as if she didn't even feel it happening. The mana of the woman soon disappeared.

She was completely blank when Alejandro looked at her. His eyes widened at the spectacle. This was another reason why nobody was able to capture the thing because nobody knew when it was around. He learned quickly that the creature was feeding off of magical energy, probably energy of a certain type? There were so many questions that the elf had. Sadly, he would have to wait to figure them out. Damn, the elf thought. He zoomed corvo's mask out a little bit and as soon as the creature left through the window from which it came, he fire off a shot. The shot wasn't loud enough to wake anyone, but it was loud enough to alarm the creature. As it turned it found itself impaled by a bullet of light magical energy. However, instead of dissipating for good, it recollected itself. Suddenly a vibrant black light-like energy began to radiate around it as it began to take a more physical form.

It took the shape of a person. Two legs, two harms, one head and what appeared to be a tail. It was jet black and had no face. From its fingers protruded long claw-like nails. "Shit.." was all Alejandro could muster before the shadow zoomed towards him. Quickly he shot another bullet, and then another but the shadow seemed to only have slowed down. If this creature wanted a fight, then it was a fight it was going to get. Alejandro rolled over to the left just before the monster could touch him and aimed his gun at the monsters head, firing off two bullets that struck directly into what would have been its skull. Alas this creature was nothing ordinary. It roared in anger, releasing a wave of energy that shook the entire city. "Requesting back up, at the Eleanor mansion." He said calmly. It seemed the entire city had felt the shockwave.

Many people flicked on their lights and ran outside in worry, others peered through the window but all of them would be able to see the shadow monster itself. The creature looked around and upon seeing that it was being canvassed roared at the people. Quickly the creature went towards the first person closest to it, a man. He watched from outside his home, and his eyes widened in fear. He was stuck. Even if he wanted to move he just couldn't bring his body to do it. Alejandro grunted, and aimed his gun at the creature. With Punisher using the roof of the building to hold it steady and his finger on his temple he had quickly come up with a plan to help the man. From this distance he could do some real damage and so, Boom as soon as his hand squeezed the trigger he teleported between the man and the beast.

Once he reached the destination, the bullet hit the creature and exploded, Alejandro using his body to cover the man from the attack. The transition wasn't at all as smooth as you might think. The creature had been harmed but also sliced Alejandro's back in the process. The gash burned and if you mix that with the fact that he was caught in the explosion of his own bullet he had suffered quite a bit of damage in a single moment. The tall Elf grunted. Man he hated his job for this exact reason. The man was saved though. Alejandro let him go with a warm smile and turned to the rest of the peering eyes. "Sorry about that, haha. Nothing to worry about, we've got this all under-" and whap! The creature appeared again and punched him down the street. That was gonna hurt later, he thought. Quickly the other rune knights appeared on the scene and aimed their weapons at the creature.

A few of them were already on the ground level and darted towards it with their daggers and swords, moving fast but unfortunately not fast enough. They sliced and diced the creature but its body only faded and returned with each blow. That didn't mean they weren't hurting it. It seemed to be getting weaker and weaker with each attack until finally Alejandro saw something peculiar happen. The shadow stopped healing. After a while it began to take damage that did't just evaporate with every strike. This battle was about to be over. If the creature wasn't strong enough to phase through attacks then all it would take is one good shot from hi punisher. Alejandro stood up and began to walk towards the giant shadow monster. It swung its arms wildly, tearing through the rune knights. From above the Secret Service squad shot down at the beast, overwhelming it with the sheer strength of fire power and numbers.

The creature fell to its knees and screeched sending another shockwave through the streets and causing some buildings in the distance to collapse. It was either trying to fight or calling for back up. The sound was like scratching nails upon a chalkboard. The elf walked up to the creature with his gun in one hand. Once he approached the creature he raised his gun but continued to gaze upon it. Now that he was closer he could assess it before bringing it to the rune Knights, because that was the plan. The creature simply faced the Stellan, no longer fighting or screeching. Alejandro raised his gun and planted on the creatures head before pulling the trigger. "See? All good!" he said to the people of the city. Sadly he would have nothing to present to his superiors, for this creature faded into oblivion. Hopefully this would be the end of it, but something told him it wouldn't be.
