Overall: Mary Jane is very bluntly said; an average person to look at when you look at her body. She is average length, not too skinny, not too thick. She has curves and a rather feminine body. But the not average part about MJ is definitely her bright red hair and her golden (maybe slightly tinted) orange eyes. Her long bright red hair reaches about her hips and is although most of the times straight, slightly wavy and even makes her hair curl here and there. It clearly doesn’t know what it wants. MJ her skin is powdery white and she has a few freckles on her nose bridge.

In general Mary Jane uses the colour white in her attire (as not much matches with orange hair before they call you a carrot) and she is very used to wearing dresses when she was still in Caelum. This is something she wants to change but after so many years; it takes a while to change.
MJ is used to wearing lots of jewelry, like golden bracelets and necklaces and large earrings. It’s unclear if she likes it to be honest.

Extra: MJ has a few small scars on her wrists and hands.

Personality

Personality: Mary Jane has been raised in a very protective atmosphere. Though protective, the word of the elders was law, and she is the girl that would abide by that law no matter what. MJ her upbringing held her small, she did not need to know things when it did not influence her birth right or her tasks in the group. However, when Mary Jane could read and was able to go around town independently, she got too curious. That meant she would sneak to the library and get books about “other stuff”. This she hid and she did not talk about it with anyone. But there was a much bigger world out there and she got curious and maybe even a little sad that she was not allowed to see that. Not under any circumstances. But that curiosity grew and yet she knew her place in this world was here. Which meant that she put her sadness away to show the world a smile and show the world kindness (and you know religion).

Mary Jane is intelligent though and quick-witted, which means she is always there to give advice and ask smart questions. She can be rather stubborn when people refuse her answers and she can also be rather stern with the younger children when they do stuff that’s not accepted. In general though, she is a soft person. Mary Jane has a lot to discover still and this will certainly affect her personality. She feels shy and vulnerable now that she is away from everything she knows. You can see that she currently acts out of those two traits.

Likes:

Illuminian: Her religion is her beacon of hope and her strong point. She holds on to this as she believes it will give her answers or at least she wants to believe that the higher powers have some use for her. That everything happens for a reason. This is not only a like but a big motivator to go on.
Small acts of kindness: Small acts of kindness: In a very fast and big world, it is MJ her joy to spread kindness. This means that even if you are a stranger; she likes to do things for you. Small gifts; check. Little bits of help in whatever way; check. Everything she can do for others; that is what she does. She will grant you a smile and a bit of sunshine in your dark days. You only have to say the word and because she likes doing this; it becomes a bit easier.

Dislikes:

Selfishness: If acts of kindness are your thing; this is kind of obvious. But not only does MJ hate her own selfishness (which is a rare phenomenon but it does happen from time to time). She cannot stand people who only act selfishly. In this big world it is only understandable if you help each other and support one another. So people who only think about themselves are a big no-no in her book and she has a very stern and big attitude against such people. It’s like an automatic reaction that she cannot put off. Oops.
Insects: She hates to admit it, but those small creepy six legged (or worse more) creatures are not her favourite things. Butterflies are fine?

Motivations:

Spread Kindness: The last days in Caelum were not very good for MJ, and to get over that fear and blabla (sadness, vulnerability) she wants to spread kindness. As that is something she enjoys doing and that makes her feel light and happy, she should do this more often to get rid of those nasty feelings.
Find Memories: MJ has memories of someone that she has never met. She wants to try to find this person and explain what happened to his loved one. If that’s how she interpreted the memories right. Now all she needs to find is a person with blond hair and blue eyes, going by the name of Kon or Konstantin or something. It’s hard to hear correctly when most of the time her memories do not use his name but a nickname.

Fears:

The Cult: There is a reason why Mary Jane left Caelum and it’s because her family was not just that and it was not just praising her for being a good daughter. It turned darker and she could no longer shut her eyes for it. Yet, deep within herself, she fears they will come to get her and take her back to Caelum, to the circle and to never let her out again.
Heights: MJ never used to fear heights until her initiation and suddenly the memories came flooding into her mind and now she doesn’t not dare to stand on ladders or anything.
Death: With all those weird things that happened in the Cult and now her strange memories and visions she is afraid of what the next world might bring her.

History

History: Mary Jane Nightingale was born in Caelum in a close knitted group that would always call itself a family. Whether it was cousins, brothers or not even related people. Mary Jane was the only child of Peter and Kitty (Katherine) Nightingale. They loved and adored her very much. She did not look like her parents, none of them had red hair and neither did anyone else in the family but they called it a blessing from the Illuminian God. They got a little blessing in their midst. When MJ her magic developed, they were sure that she was a blessing and they treated her that way. Although she did not turn into a huge spoiled brat (which was to be expected), the family started to worship Mary Jane. This resulted in her getting lessons to become a priestess.

Mary Jane was initiated on her sixteenth birthday. They cut her hands and wrists to offer the Illumian religion her blood, the blood of a blessing. When the chalice with her blood hit the sun right, she fainted and her eyes turned completely white. While her family fussed over her, Mary Jane was having visions. Visions of another life, a life of torture, a life of hatred and kindness and most of all one with a lot of love. Those visions showed her other things in life that she had never experienced and she yearned for it. She wanted more of those visions, to be able to live another life. The deity she envisioned was called Adelaide and Mary Jane started to worship her. She learned that this deity was a Nephilim and that she had vanished from the world without a trace.

But now that her family and especially her parents knew that she could “talk” (it were only visions but hey) to a Nephilim, they started to put more pressure on Mary Jane and she finally saw the family group for what it really was; a cult. They did everything for the sake of the Illuminian religion but they went too far. She noticed the sacrifices and the blood that was spilled for nothing. The whole group had hidden this from their blessing but now that she knew, they asked to use her blood. Mary Jane said that this was okay, she did this as she hoped to spare the others from harm. It took a lot from her, the pain was endless and the darkness that swallowed her whole as she kept on fainting from blood loss. More memories and visions engulfed her and she wanted that kindness, that warmth and love and she wanted to tell this person, this darling, this loved one that his wife or partner was gone but that she loved him and that she would always look for him. But Mary Jane was trapped. Until it was enough. In one stormy summer night, when the thunderstorm was rolling over but the temperature was still hot; Mary Jane fled away from the Cult. She fled away from Caelum as that seemed to close by and she fled to a country which she had seen in her memories; Fiore. For years she had studied the language and she hoped to find a safe haven there but most of all; she hoped to find this man and get some answers while giving some.
