Lumikki

D-rank-Théama’s Great Sight Of Heat

Brainstorming all weak about new ways to form her magic, Lumikki finally decided to use the training dome in her guild. She knew her Uncle spent a lot of time in these parts and he strongly encouraged her that she would do the same.  After reading up on more possibilities of her abilities in frost magic, and with some guidance from Gnicolas her teacher. She found that it would be possible to see the heat with her eyes.

She cackled at the thought of it, how much easier a hunt could be now that she will be able to always spot her prey. At least that is all she hoped as she got off to work. Lumikki had prepared some boiling water for testing. Setting mugs in various places. Some were in sight and some were behind objects within the hall. She wanted to make sure she had a lot of choices to work with to really practice the basics down.

When all things were placed well she sat down, her legs crossed. She took the time to relax and just breathe. She did so for a few minutes before she began to follow the flow of her aura. Picturing it in her mind as she let it lead her throughout her body. When she felt she had the proper grasp and flow she directed some of the aura to her eyes. She let it pool there for a moment so that she would get used to the sensation and the action of it. Feeling the cool sensation of her magic tingle behind her lids. When she was able to move her aura to and from her eyes more easily and at her will, she prepared to open them. Placing Her hands softly over her eyes and peeling them away, two magic circles appeared before them. When her eyes were fully opened her sight was altered, as she would hope they would be. She was indeed able to see the heat now, though it took her some time to adjust before she could make out what she was seeing. It was odd seeing in hues of red, to an extent her sight was fairly restricted, but she began to look where she left her mugs.

Blinking away and looking for the reds and oranges among all the blue, sure enough there it was. The outline of the mug she placed just before her. Nearly a clear view too, she was very pleased with herself. When she went on looking around the room, she was able to begin making out the other mugs too. Though only the ones that were lightly hidden away. Beyond that, they were hard to view beyond the blue. Now she knew that thermal vision could only see so much, and she was a bit sad about it.

When she looked around the area further, she realized something interesting as well. Some traces of people were left behind on the gear. Lumikki approached some of the training blades, picking one up in her hands to get a closer look. It was fading but a faint handprint was still shown on its hilt. She turned the sword over to examine it further, noticing the changes to the blade where she had touched herself.

She didn’t consider looking at her own hands, lost in her ability to see other things. She looked over her palms, the hottest point, and how it would fade to an orange at the tips of her fingers. She slightly added cold to her hands with her magic to see what it would cause and the red quickly melted into a blue. Dazzled with her new sight she decided to look out further, leaving the training hall in search of people. Not far from the exit of the hall, people approached. Perhaps ready to train themselves. She looked them over to see how they would appear to her, a person in thermal, most of them were light. Though the hue varied greatly in different parts of them. She took the experience in as she close her eyes once more, shaking off her spell.

Lumikki

C rank Chilling Night

Lumikki reentered the training hall to work on her new spells. Yesterday she managed to work on her thermal vision, today she wished to conquer her new one. It would be called Chilling Night. And so she got to work setting up a spot to do it. She first wanted to get the jist of handling the dark magic first. Before weaving it with her cold. Lumikki grew up with her grandmother teaching her the ways to frost magic, but dark was something completely new to her.

It was a recent mission with her Uncle Brone and teacher, that she found where her dark magic lay. It pooled within her chest. As she sat, she felt her energy ebb and flow along with the beat of her heart. Breathing slowly as to relax her body from the stress and excitement. When she was in a state of flow, she opened her eyes and raised her palms. Cupping her hands so that she could let her dark magic pool, shaping it into a ball. It took tries before she was comfortable holding it in the form of an orb. Once she felt she had the jist, she moved the sphere around. Allowing it to raise and fall from her hand until she could even make it orbit around her.

She continued to move the orb for two hours. Getting the hang of moving the darkness at all without tapping and moving it with her hands. Eventually, with the gestures of her thoughts and the slight movements of her hands and fingers, the ball was almost lively and animated. Lumikki was pleased with the progress she made in syncing better with this element. She took her leave for the day and rested in her room.

When the next day came, the sun at the highest point in the sky, Lumikki returned to the training hall once more. Determined to push her dark frost forward. This time she set up targets to hit. She wanted something to focus intently on. Something to attack. She put up three targets, all three meters apart; and began to work.

She stood with her feet should length apart and tried to conjure her dark frost. Only small tendrils manage to answer her all. She tried creating a ball of dark frost once more, like she had the day before. After a while of mustering her magic, a sphere was able to form. She bobbed it around till she had the gist of it again. When she finished her warm-up she stood ready and tried again to cause the dark frost to come on command, striking her target.

She stood, both legs shoulder-length apart once more. When she was ready, to closed her eyes. Following the flow of dark and cold within her once more. When she could see it in her mind, she opened her eyes and raised her arms, flicking her wrists in a fluid motion. Cold dark began to swirl from behind her, slow at first but it grew more rapid. She tried then to direct it toward her target. Missing for the few first attempts before finally landing her mark. When she could manage to land 10 times in a row, she was satisfied enough to try and land on the other two. Soon direction of her dark frost became smoother. Before she called it a night, she found a mercenary training nearby. Asking him if she could take the hit. Since she wasn’t of a high rank yet, he figured she couldn't do much damage. So he let her try. Lumikki practiced enough to muster technique on her first attempt, the man struck with her Chilling Night. Just as she hoped, her spell did slow him as she had intended for him. He unfortunately caught a cold though.

Lumikki

C rank Frigid Nocturne

This was day four of Lumikki’s spell boot camp. She felt good like she was growing strong. Two spells were added to her arsenal and now she hoped to include a third. For this training, she decided to enlist another mercenary, promising good favor with her Uncle. Fortunately for her, the fool took the bait and she set out to work.

Before Lumikki was ready to instruct him to carry the weight, she needed to warm up as she did before. He practiced his swordsmanship as she sat down to focus and relax. Sitting cross-legged again, she traced the flow of her aura. Following whichever direction they led and taking notes. When she felt she had the gist, she began pushing her dark frost out of her in pulses. Controlling the extent and intensity that she releases it. Playing with her command of her magic and the amount of focus and energy it required. Next, she investigated how fast she could push it out. Trying over and over in short bursts to see how quickly she could expend her magic. Changing the amount of intensity she had so that she could see if it made a difference.

When she was satisfied with her overall control and felt ready to end her warm-up, she rose back up. Calling back the mercenary so that she had a responsive target. Seeing as the spell was intended to curb the strength of her opponents, she felt she would never be properly able to gauge how successful her training would be on an object. Uncle Brone was too resistant of frost to bother him, and all his companions would either not take too kindly to the treatment, or be immune to the point of it. The random grunt would do.

She made him carry a thirty-pound weight, which for him was not all too hard. He was fairly capable of carrying such a weight for some time. When he insisted he was ready, she began her barraged of many attempts to create a chill. Snapping her fingers, the catalyst for this spell in terms of gesture, she did so over and over hoping to conjure a cold. Her magic and aura very much responded to her wish and demand, just not the way she wanted. The overall room gets colder with each snap.

Lumikki never considered to the extent that she lacked experience in pin-pointing her spells. It was one thing to throw out an attack but another to rely on it being in a specific place on cast. She tried over and over for a bit longer, getting more frustrated with each failure. For lack of better words, she needed to cool down. The mercenary was getting antsy from holding the weight for so long. Wondering would he really have to stand around for much longer. He began pleading to Lumikki to let him so that he make take care of other things. This only heated Lumikki up further. In her insistence to keep snapping, it sparked her magic. Nearly flash-freezing the man she made her training dummy. As a layer of ice frosted over him, the cold began to sap his strength. Making the weight unbearable to hold until he had to let of it all together. Barely being able to keep standing himself. When Lumikki saw the results of her magic and training, she was very pleased. Skipping for joy in her success, she grabbed a blanket prepared and tossed it on the man. Recommending he ate some soup before skipping out of the hall.

Lumikki

C rank Moonlit Lasher

A week had passed since Lumikki last trained. She took a break to do more studying. She need more ideas for more offensive spells, after all, she wanted to be able to hold her own. Everything she managed to cobble together last week was practically passive. The would mean nothing to her if she didn’t create more attacks. At the moment she only had one. This displeased her greatly. So off she went to work.

She gathered the training dummies so she would have targets ready. Slinking into her meditations just after to warm up. During the week she wasn’t actively doing her magic. She was doing the readings her teacher had assassinated. Brainstorming more options for her magic, though it was hard. It was not a matter of not being able to find the intent to harm, but more the form it would take on. Her dark frost was too new and it had yet to find a form to take. At the moment, it usually showed in tendrils when her tempers were high. Coiling around herself and her company. Even in the mission she did prior, tendrils formed in her attempt to cast a spell for dimming lights.

For now, while her magic was still new. She decided this would be the route to take. Letting the tendril motif be until it naturally evolved alongside her. Lumikki channeled her aura for a moment, letting herself warm up to it again. Channeling a lot of the aura to her hand, the medium she planned to use with her magic. From there she even tried to pull the shadows and dark spots around her. Toward the gravity of her magic and will. To use for the purpose of casting her attack. It took time for the darkness to waver and answer her call. She tried for a while until the dark finally seemed more in tune with her and she with it. Nearly bending to her will.

With the clasping of her outstretched hand, she hoped to make a tendril of a more tangible and fixed form. The intention was to strike her enemy with it. She tried many times to conjure one. Failing in many of her early attempts. At first, she would barely get her dark frost to rise. It would wobble as the dark tried to hold together, before falling apart like water in a shattered glass. Perhaps she was being too ambitious. Trying to put together a large tendril before mustering ones that are small. So she took a step back and gave it a try. Clasping her raised hand over and over until finally, a tendril grew. Rising from a pocket of her shadow. Lumikki was very pleased, and she wanted to maintain the momentum. Little by little she began to regular for small tendrils with her shadow. Scarce at first before becoming much more consistent. She tried again to make one elsewhere, focusing on keeping it small. After a half hour of trying, a tendril formed and stayed. She was reaching a new peg in her goal. After two more hours, she was able to form a large one and hit her target.

Lumikki

C rank Maw of the 9th Circle

Now that Lumikki felt more in tune with her dark frost than she had before, she was ready to train once more. This time she felt it best to go about it in a way more kin to Frost. Something more comfortable. She already proved her grit in maneuvering the dark in her dark frost better. Her warm-up today what much like the normal. Calm down and get used to the feeling and flow of her arua sure, and the ebbs and flows it would make with her breath. Handling frost felt much different from that of the dark. With frost, it would feel like a jolt of emotions and feeling pouring out in a burst. As a result, the first and ice would reciprocate. Created jagged edges and shards in her displeasure or bloodlust, or smooth beautiful ice and snow in her happier moments.

Dark in comparison felt so malleable. Formless like water itself. Hardly tangible. It felt more like controlling how well you could keep water in the palms of your hands than the sheer force Lumikki knew ice to be. So now she got to indulge in that today for a nice change of pace.

Lumikki added a new step in her warm-up. Conjuring her dark frost tendrils to pull the training targets she would like to use today. It was a struggle at first to form them since the skill was fairly new, but that was the point of the warm-up. Once she got them to form, the act of pulling the objects where she had wanted to be felt foreign. It was a struggle at first but her strength grew. When her targets were huddled in one spot she started at her spell lesson of the day. She wanted to create an area of spikes rising up from the ground so that they would pierce her foes. Should be a simple task for the frost daemon, as her magically naturally flowed that way. Though it would not be her old poor frost that added to her challenge, she was working with her dark frost instead.

She decided as she was meditating prior that she would want to tap into something more visceral and primal. When she caused the many jagged shards to rise in an area larger than she was used to, she felt she needed to tap really deep. So she focused her attention on her gut and chest and tried to tap from the well of her power. Pulling it deeply from the pits of her core, she clawed into the air, her arm arching upward. In her gesture, a few shards form. As was the norm of what she usually created but not enough for her goal. She needed more to assure that if a group even had their sights on her, she had an answer.
So try and try Lumikki did. Frost coming easy meant the ice would answer her call, she just need to pull more. Over and over she worked to push the limits of her power. Calling more and more ice in her gesture. Eventually, she felt a snap within her, like something shattering. It was an off feeling, a bittersweet echo. When she clawed the air once more though, a small field of jagged obsidian shards rose, piercing all the targets she’d gathered in the range.

Lumikki

C rank Bitter Frost Nebula

Now the Lumikki feels she had more pull and substance from even her frost magic and a better sense of control and will over dark, she was up for a challenge. The form she wanted to take this magic was not like anything she has done before. She was used to her ice shards and she became used to her dark in the form of tendrils but she wanted to push what she could do further. Hoping this would be one of the first steps to her magic being more.

Lumikki warmed up like she had all the other days. Tracing the magic and aura within her. She became intimate with where her magic preferred to lie. Knowing now just where to tap at will. From her tests and exercises before, she even got better at calling the magic out as she ushered her dark frost to take on the form and will she desired. Creating a tendril of dark frost, she dragged her training dummy to the spot she wanted. This time mustering it cleanly in one try. This pleased Lumikki a lot because she really got to see the results of her work in such a short time. She was sure if she told her Uncle Brone and her teacher, they would be quite proud. Still, she was a long way to go before she could fight her Uncle or even her guild member Emil. Tamas, she thought, at least she knew she could make him struggle.

Lumikki stood very still. Feeling the flow of her aura so that she could direct it to her hand. Raising her palm before her she calmly got to work. Willing her dark frost into a spiral in her hand. As she tried, it would appear faint. Hardly managing the form she wanted. Breaking apart when she pressed further. She knew it wasn’t a matter of power, she proved she could pull that out the day before. When she covered the area she wanted with her ice shards. No this is perhaps a matter of control and will still. She needed to push her skills further. Of course, this is part of why she wanted to make this spell in the first place, to help her unlock further finesse and precise control of her magic.

She decided on a different approach. When she played around with the dark in her magic she had worked first on forming an orb. With it, she learned to manipulate her magic without much physical interaction. Mostly by will and gestures alone. Maybe it would make a good start to this training. She reckon she would try since no one present was guiding her. So there she was forming a ball with her dark frost again. When she made it, the act came easily to her. The ball formed quickly and with no hassle at all. Seems her affinity to handle her magic has grown much indeed now that is hardly giving her a fuss in her tasks.

With her orb in hand, she then worked on simply spinning it. It was short at first, and it was so for some time. It didn’t begin to pick up more speed until a half hour in. But when she was able to spin at higher speeds, she pressed more and more about how fast it could go. At times it went so fast she lost control, her orb dissipating to its loss of control. Forming it was easy enough though, and soon was regaining the speed. When she was content with that, she flattened the sphere and created a disk. It was hard to sping but wasn’t so bad for that much longer. Shooting it at the target ended up being the easy part.

Lumikki

B rank Encroaching Winter

Now that Lumikki was getting much more comfortable with her dark frost. Able to shape it into many more forms and move it much to her desire. She wanted to tackle another spell that involved the participation of another.

She bribed another one of Uncle Brone’s mercenaries, they just are too easy to come by and convinced him to sit for her spell training. He was very reluctant to agree in participating at first sadly. Something about hearing from the other ones she used to try her spells complaining about the state she left them. Something about how they would get colds or feel they were left too weak and on the cusp of hyperthermia. Word was going around that they were calling her an Ice Demon, or even an Ice Witch. She didn't care all too much about it though as she dragged this one in with threats to his standing and her black tendrils.

She tossed him a blanket before getting to work on her practice. It was imperative that he was cold to prove this spell worked, so she took measures so she wouldn't hear about it late. It already seems like her previous uses of the m men were becoming well known among them and she hated to receive another lecture from her Uncle Brone. So she began to warm up quickly and properly.

Since her magic was becoming comfortable and easy to use, she didn’t have to spend so much time tapping into it. She did not have to follow the flow in which it went for long. She even found raising her tendrils to become much easier. So now she would like to practice raising a few in a bind-like way.

At first, she summoned one tendril alone. To her that was simple enough. She then tried to push raising another more. It felt a little odd at force to have two dark frost tendrils about and about moving but it was not that much of a bother. When she tried to keep raising the number, she found she struggled to push past three. The attempts to make four felt as though a slight strain and it would fizzle the others, causing her to start again. She kept at it hoping it was just a boundary she needed to push like her ice shards had been. Before she could only summon a few as well but she had kept pushing until she made a proper area of effect in her cast. She didn’t expect to make this spell as large, but affixed ice is easier to pull out over something that feels akin to a living shadow. With an ebb and flow it felt it almost had a will of its own. This all added to it being difficult for her to grasp just yet. Almost like its existence was a little overwhelming to her. She tried to relax before trying some more.

More and more Lumikki pushed on, finally reaching four without her magic getting undone. Pleased with herself to take a short rest. Chatting with her hostage as she regained some of her stamina and eating shadows to help her get her energy back. The rest did wonders for her because when she tried to repeat getting fout tendrils in her process, she had gotten it on her first try. Seems that maybe the act of holding that magic was getting easier. Lumikki danced with glee as she noted the progress she made, but she was not yet done. She wanted to try and push for more. She ended up settling with five at being her current maximum output. It was as hard as she was willing to push for this task.

Now on to the main goal she set out for. She instructed her victim to stand before her. He was reluctant to comply but she assured him minimal cold would be used for this spell. If anything, she added, he lucked out. Perhaps the ones she used before were slightly brutal because the cold needed to be a bit intense, but really how would she know the spell worked if she didn't try? He was not the least bit soothed but stood where she asked eager to be over this.

Happy her hostage complied she began to try and channel her spell. Grasping the air before her she will her five tendrils to spout, and obediently they did. Though it was hard to will them at once at first. After a few tries of stubborn focus, they coiled the man. She clenched her fist tighter to ensure her tendril’s grasps we just as tight, the man seemed to heave from the sensation. When she instructed him to try and move, he soon confirmed he could not. Success Lumikki shouted and celebrated before skipping out of the training room to tell her teacher. Sadly the man was left there stuck in the spell's grasp until the daemon was too far to maintain it. Falling promptly after regaining freedom and being too worn out to move again.

Lumikki

Lumikki had moments of pulling it off, albeit sloppily and incompletely. She pulled at the darkness like some sort of fabric, ripping it apart like ribbons to easily consume. She even pulled it over her like a blanket during the war. An attempt to push her manipulation of the darkness around her further. Interacting with it by any tangible means she could personally conceptualize. Especially since Gnicolas had long left her to her own devices. Leaving the girl to figure out the matter herself. She was sad to still lack the guidance she hoped for. Though she could not solely rely on another. She opted to read further on the uses and forms darkness could take. Even preceding the war she would read up on the forms and uses darkness. Looking over the spells former great mages had used, she set to work crafting her own. Ones that would fit her preferences on the matter. And so here she was with the idea to expand the use of darkness like a fabric she would hold in her grasp. She toyed with the sliver of emptiness untouched by the light in her room. Playing with her ability to hold and manipulate its form to be consistent throughout.

As she pulled the fabric of her dark cloth, it would take the fullness of the shadow. As she was handling and maneuvering a dark sheet any one could touch. Though even her sheet wasn't perfect, she did not make a sheet for herself to play with so to speak. It was more a kin to moving the shadow itself. As if she was moving the form of something already mad but not quite making it a thing for herself. She played the with the darkness in her hands for a while longer. Trying to get used to the feeling of the dark and shadows. It was surprising how soft the darkness felt to her. She never really realized it before, nor did she ever give it any thought. Her ice had a tendency to usually be rough unless it was slick and smooth. The softest she found she could make it was snow. As enjoyable as snow it, it was not in this likeness. Lumikki then wondered to herself just how far she could have taken her frost magic and her ability to control and shape it. Her dark gave her access to more fluid forms that she would find harder to manipulate in ice alone. Her frost had a tendency to jut in jagged shards. Be jagged and hard, though she could and has made snow, her frost lacks the feeling and flow of water. When she brings out massive pieces of ice with her magic, she feels like her ice is the cumulation of the bursting emotions and energies. Like as she summons it, it gives her the feeling of pushing massive energy to form a steadfast element. though it does not drain or bother her, it lacks the ebb and flow that darkness adds. The dark even painted away at her magic turning it into something else, something more.

Lumi played more with the dark she had in her hands. Pulling, stretching, moving, shifting, twisting, and ripping at its form. While she did this she took mental notes to remember the results of her tampering. Noting what would be too much pressure, too much pull, what would hold or tear, and how the shadow changes when she bunched it up. It was all becoming fascinating to her since she would find that she always tore at it to eat it and in a way up until now she would make the shadows and darkness shift to a tangible form. Making it bend to her will to achieve spells she uses in her battles or a means of comfort to the daily aspects of life. There are many times she would form construct first in shadow, using her talent and skill to make ice sculptures throughout her life, that it made it easy to for the shadows in a form she wanted before bleeding the frost aspect of her magic in, the frost flooding in the shadows and giving it more substance in its form. Making it more tangible.

With that line of thinking she mended her shadow and darkness, returning it to the dark corner that she ripped it from. It flattened out like it was unfolding from her altercations and manipulations. Phasing into the dark once more. Lumi then grabbed at the shadow and dark once more. Gently pulling it while flowing her frost into the darkness that she was holding in her hands. Playing with the power she fed to the dark she held. After a while of meddling with it, she found that different intensities of her frost caused the dark and shadows to solidify in different ways and intensities. The more frost she put, the more rigid the structure became. This seemed obvious and it was but then it was more of a matter of at what point did it make the dark and shadow too hard. Lumikki would test off for another hour, and as she did she would write notes on the amount she felt she put in with the results that it would give her. She put it on a scale of one to thirteen. Thirteen is the most frost she can pump into her shadow and dark construct, which gave her other result of her black ice. A jagged shard of ice that took on the color of darkness. From this she learned that with enough ice it would become the dominant element, taking on most of the properties and the construction of the form. That adverse was a one, which mostly had the opposite effect, if any effect at all. This was negligible because the introduction did nothing at all. It self held together like the dark and shadow without her influence at all. This was still an obvious observation, but the point was to tell and see if any introduction of her ice had an effect on the shadow and darkness. It would seem there was a threshold that needed to be passed before the frost started to contribute and mingle with its properties.

From here was the real hard part. It was not an easy matter breaking down the amount of frost she put in the dark and shadow to a numerical scale and even though she did do it and sat down there long enough to do it, it did not change that it was mostly abstract. The reason she did this was to help her articulate and differentiate a difference in the amount of frost she would introduce into the dark and shadow. She never gauge different spell level variations before because she did not find a need to. Though for the sake of altering her command and control over her elements and her magic, she found that it would benefit her to explore the variations available from gauging the differences and the results from mixing her elements in different ways.

She spent the better part of the hour then breaking down her frost intensities to what she would feel is the best number to assign it. She found that around about the level eight she would start to introduce enough of the element of ice into the mixture that the dark and that shadow would become stiff and rigid. It felt less like the delicate cloth she would start with and more like a stack of papers after getting wet and merging together. She had no idea on what to use this effect for but she was sure to write it down along with her other notes about her findings on frost intensities.

After a lot of trial and error, she was able to get a decent and stronger consistency for the fabric she was working with. Now she was wondering to what thickness would she need this fabric to be to execute her spell. She wore it like a blanket in the war in hopes that wrapping herself into the night would help to obscure her from the shinobi's sight. To an extent it did work, the idea was sound and helpful. Wrapping herself in the dead of night did wonders to hide herself from prying eyes. There were just two glaring problems with how she executed it in that fight, not including how sloppy she did it at the moment. Problem one was that if she needed the night to do it, a time that is already dark and hard to see it, and that she simply wrapped herself with the black night that already existed around her, then the spell would be useless in the day and in the light. It would become too situations in that state and therefore it would be a useless spell to her. The second problem with how she attempted to this spell before is because it was like flying and fighting in a blanket. The darkness as she made it was annoyingly pulling and getting in the way of all her movements. Making her feel not as fast and she as she would like and normally is. She got used to being in the cold of the tundra to practice her magic and therefore she got used to not wearing a lot of clothes that got in her way. The blanket made the descent unbearable. She felt it was part of what got in her way of doing her attack and what gave her a way to the partner shinobi so that he would know where to attack her. It did not also help that it also tore when she was hit by the man shinobi's attacked. Her cobbled-up spell and attempt to hide in the dark of night did not work. This is why she is trying to strengthen the dark and shadow fabric that she is making so that it was sound and consistent. Something that would not give out easily, or would not rip on every attack.

After she noted and found the right intensity, she was now trying to make her frost more consistent and even. The iterations that she made when she was figuring out how much frost to pour in had a lot of patches and weak spots. So Lumi spent time and time again trying to freeze it over more consistently. Starting from scratch after every attempt to get the best from her practice. When she would be casting the spell it would be from scratch any way. So she would want to be able to do it all in one go and one motion. Like pulling a veil from thin air that would shield her away from others' sight. After she was done getting it right in multiple consistent attempts after the hours it took to practically spread her frost through out her dark and shadow. Lumi began her work on make the point of her spell intent work. So far she has mastered making the perfect veil out of dark and frost. One that could sit on her comfortably and was not easy to break. She spent her fair share of time trying to will the dark and shadow to hide her presence. She would over her arm and work on willing her spell to eat away at all the light that would touch her veil. Hoping that if the light was forced to cease that there would be no way that she could be seen. Her line of thinking was not so far off. She was indeed able to start blurring her arm even within the light. She then spent a series of a few days trying to will her magic. At first it would blur, then it would obscure, then it would make her arm faint, and after much practice it would make her arm disappear in thin air. After practicing a few more she was able to do it thorough out the her body and vanish.

Lumikki

Lumikki had already made a spell like it long ago. It was actually not too long after she enter the guild of Paradise Dawn that she mustered it. From the counsel and suggestion of her Uncle Brone who insisted on the usefulness of a more mobile spell as she was a fragile mage. She created the Glacial Step long ago. Though after a fight that she had with a girl named Vex over some errand, she didn't care to do, she has realized that it wouldn't hurt her to craft more mobile spells in her favor.

Lumikki spun in place and used her older spell, surging forward a total of five meters. She wanted to try out her old spell to get into the motions before using the newer one. Also just as importantly, she wanted to make sure that it would be easy for her to end the first one and continue the next one in case she needed to close a grand distance like before. The area of the valley of arrows at that time was massive and she knows that the spells she'll fast in time won't get any smaller.

Toward the end of the cast of her Glacial Step, Lumikki brushed her thighs with her hands. This time freezing over just her feet as she continued to move forward in her direction but now in a skating version. Her feet slid over the ground as if it was ice as she continued the duration of her mobile spell. Granted the ground that she practiced on was not jagged or cluttered, but it still to her some time to get used to the motions when she was not yet used to this spell. Though she lacked the experience for this endeavor at the moment, she did have much experience in ice skating overall. Lumi would use and execute those techniques from her skating into the spell, this allowed for a seamless transition and movement.

At the end of her cast, Lumikki thought the spell quite useful. Although she would do it over and over again a few times to get fully used to the motions of the spell over all. Looking for more rockier grounds to practice on.

Lumikki

Lumikki was mulling over a spell that showed to her raven self. She had many ideas in mind and so today she had hoped to practice a few. this one was like a flourish of ravens flying out to a target, hopefully piercing them like an arrow when they hit. She gave it a lot of thought as she was picturing the spell deep within her mind. She was trying to envision it so that it would be a little easier to execute the cast in mind.

She did not often get the opportunity to see an unkindness. At least not yet. She made do watch her brothers, the two ravens that served her Unlce Brone, fly out in the sky. Studying the look and the action of their movements. Lumikki could fly herself, and she flew many times alongside them as a raven as well. Still, it didn't change that it was different to do and to know how a subject looks as it does an action. So she would sit and watch as they made their rounds in the sky before giving thought to how she would bring it out into her spell.

Not too long ago, Lumikki would learn to make tendrils. It was the easiest thing she could think of to help her get started in molding and moving her dark frost magic as something more than stiff constructs. She felt that she wanted to over play with the firms she pulled off as a mage, wanting her magic to flow more freely than just her frost could muster. Trying to achieve the full range.

As she watched her brothers fly up above, she would blow out small kisses, creating a single raven of her own to fly forward. The first one barely held in form since she did not yet know how much of either element to apply yet. The wonky bird did not even flap as it fizzled out. Still, time and time again as she watched Huginn and Muninn as they took to the skies, she would blow more kisses until the raven would hold proper form. And once she could maintain a decent fluidity, she began challenging herself by making her construct flap its wings. Many of the ravens for a time could only get two flaps in before it was hard to keep the form and push the action forward. She alternated for a time between flapping and gliding. When she was finally able to not only keep a single raven going forward and execute flight well enough between flapping and gliding. She finally challenged herself to add more ravens in her flock so that she could build up her spell.

For a time it took her a while to muster two ravens simultaneously. It was hard to manage their movement and direction. One bird often falls to the side. It took some time before handling multiple forms would become manageable for her. Yet when she did she would only keep adding more ravens until she created proper unkindness. She directed her spell to a nearby rock and watched her spell crash into the stone, just as she had intended, it pierced thought.

Lumikki

Lumikki managed to muster something like this spell a few times before in the Joyan war. It was like her dark frost was showing off who she was and aligned with. And the more her obscura took over the easier it was to craft them. Them being the talons her binds were beginning to take after. She really felt as if she was making her magic her own.

Though it was time to do it again but with intention. It was time to do it again but she wanted to do so much more than trap someone in her grip. And so Lumikki, when to work at first, trying to recreate her talons.

At first, she worked with the bind because that was the spell she even discovered the prospect and the idea of creating talons to fight with. Trying to recreate her work from the war and see if it works. She would coil her tendrils over and over again trying to see if through that action she could muster the other form. Trying to weave them together until they could take on a bunch of different shapes. All of them came out sloppy as far as she could tell and she was not happy with her work.

She sat down and continued her studies. Swpping her hand over and over to will her dark frost into talons as they swiped in a matching motion the mage casting the spell. She would do the cast over and over in quick succession not really giving herself a moment to rest and the magic settle in. She was more occupied with getting the gist to execute as she wanted. She thought that she could smooth out and create the form after she could at least make the motions to her spell practical.

After an hour of swiping at the air and just about making her spell's motion. She took a few hours of a break before getting back to forming her talon. She wanted to be refreshed before she would put in all the work again none stop to get the results that she wanted. From here it was making her spell as she had originally intended.

She got to work forming the construct of the talon. Over and over did she form it. At first, she did so in the hope to make the talon perfect as she wanted and after a while of working on it, she did. Then she kept reforming it over and over more and more rapidly so that she could see just how fast she could begin making her perfect along so that it would form seamlessly on command.

And after a few hours of non-stop work, she made great progress in the things she wanted. All that was left was to combine the construct and the moment. It was a bit unsteady at first but she took to it quickly. Swiping away at the dummy on hand in the training room. Lumikki was pleased.

Lumikki

Yesterday Lumikki had managed to create the spell and somewhat perfect her Frost-tipped Talon. She figured that she did not want to just stop there. She dragged Raphael from the night patrol just before his shift so that he could help her practice her new spell. Well, it is new in purpose because it will have a lot of the makings of the Frost-tipped Talon she had learned the day before. She just wanted to vary the form of attack and force it would have.

"Yer fast enough right? If I practice a flurry of attacks then you'd make out of most of them fine?" Lumikki looked at her victim with a massive smirk on her face though the patrol men tried to maintain his determined expression. He was always a man of show and facade so of course he would not let on his fear of the situation or his disdain for being singled out. He especially did not want to let anything slip of his annoyance to the Shield of Dawn's niece. He got in a stance ready for what the Daemon could throw out at him and she warned him to start running.

She balls her fist as opposed to her usual swiping motion that she used the day before for the previous spell. This happened to be the gesture for this one requirement. She would pound lightly on her fist to activate the cast. So instead of a talon forming within the air from dark frost to swipe and scratch at her opponent. This one would stomp on the ground of the area her victim would be standing.

And because she already trained in the constructs form and quick execution this training was to practice the magic slightly modified and with a different purpose. It was easy to get the talon to form and stomp on the floor of the spot of her choosing. What she wanted was to get fast enough that dodging would prove difficult. This is a good reason why she opted to get a moving target today so that she could better practice her speed and casting.

Raphael began running as Lumikki had suggested. He was running in a straight line at first until Lumikki pounded her fist and her talon nearly crushed him in his path. He gasped because the force of the talon coming down was strong, much stronger than a practice session had constituted. He gasped at the missed attempt and then back to running again, knowing the ice demoness would be sure to crush him in his weakness. This time he would run in a zig-zag motion, constantly switching the flow so as to confuse the Daemon. Making it harder to land her spell. She tried her hand at a guess where he would be only to sadly pick wrong. He dodged before the talon could connect and crush him. He would continue at this pace as she would work on speeding the cast of her spell, eventually crushing him before the night ended. Promptly asking others on the patrol to deliver him to the nurse in her stead.

Lumikki

Lumikki grabbed a few of the patrol men including Rapheal after he made his recovery from the last time she pulled him out to train a spell. He was as reluctant as ever, but then again so were the others. They were shifting and shaking where they stood, all but Raphael who insisted he did not fear her. This would only make Lumikki smirk before breaking out into a laugh.

"Today will be a fun one, it would almost be like a game. I still have to get a hold of crafting the spell but it should not be so hard that it takes too long. I suggest ye start running though."

She pulled her arm back, a snowball forming in her hand before she swung her arm for and tossed her orb. Not like the patrol men waited that long as she began her motion to start her spell. They all began running and even though Raphael held out for the longest, sure enough, he began running too.

The first snowballs Lumikki tossed out were duds and they were so for a long time. Just pure black snowballs until she could proc the next phase of her spell. The men treated them all like a danger though as they never wanted to be caught off guard. They knew that the demon was only practicing and so expecting them to be useless forever was just asking to be killed.

Eventually her snowball would finally at least expand as they were tossed. They started as a small and regular snowball but would bloat to a diameter of one point five. Bloated the max size Lumikki intended for once it reached the highest peak in the arc. This was starting to scare the men again as their terror was beginning to return to full force. Lumikki smirked as she was starting to see her progress pay off.

She would begin to aim for areas just nearby Raphael so that when she could finally succeed in making her spell pop he would take the brunt of the blast. The other men ran aimlessly at first until they were beginning to catch on and stay clear of their captain. Sure she would mix up and toss in other places but it was becoming more apparent who she was aiming for.

The few times the men were caught by the ball, it was like getting hit with solid ice. The sensation was already painful but they all knew it was not the damage she intended. After all the time tossing her balls out, they were finally beginning to spike when tossed. The shards protruded out the firstest when the ball reached max size. Lumikki began to giggle as she was almost there. Now that she had the firm she only needed to manage the function. She would fill her snowball with compact mana so that when it expanded and begin to fall over it would detonate in a short time. The mess of mana busting caused the shards to fly out in a radius tagging all who were in an area.
