Overall: Coventina Carmen is a beautiful woman. This is a subject of both vanity and truth - she was turned at the prime of her life and retained her gorgeous figure and the sleekness of both youthful skin and picturesque locks. Her hair is the down of a raven with the sharp eyes of a crow framed by brushed bangs, amber opulence crowned by a butterfly's eyelashes and deepening to a glowering crimson the hungrier she becomes. Her frame is lithe, predatory, a tall woman to tower over many men and critters both with the playful grin just about her canines to claim herself as the top of this food chain. Her voice is soft until an edge peeks in, a beast in beauty's clothing with the touch of a woman.
Extra: No body modifications, but she does tend towards fluffier clothing - furs, feathers, lace. She tuts silk gowns and magistrate cotton, always dressed as the belle if not dark advisor chic.
Personality
Personality: Coventina Carmen - she'd tell you you can call her "C.C." for short, though Dear Countess works just as well - is not what you'd call an approachable person. Truthfully, she's not that hard to find; a shadow in the back of Phantom Lord's guild hall, reserving private rooms to sleep through the day and entertain guests (read: herself) at nights. The problem comes in her presentation. She's too pretty. Her vivacious outfits and that soft glow in her eyes, the way she licks her lips and sighs so sweet -- she's a predator. Coventina doesn't care about a single other person in the damn world.
She is selfish, hungry, insatiable. She cares for money and power, beauty and infamy, and she'll leave you bone dry in more ways than one once she's had her fun. People serve a use and a use alone. It can be status, it can be food, it can be entertainment - whatever macabre tune she'll have you dance to - but don't expect her to feel bad when you're no longer worth that much. She has an unstable temperament and a quickly waning interest in just about anything. Those around her have to continually justify themselves or make themselves scarce before her disinterest turns to distaste.
She's not quite irredeemable nor is slaughter her only drive, but she's prone to fits of fancy or whim and these always tend to be in darker urges. Even she has lines she won't cross, even she has things she cares for: but what does that matter to your average pet? She comes out in control anyway.
Likes:
- Money, Power, Fame: The usual trifecta for a villainess. While she might not be one-note evil, that doesn't mean she has to devalue the things that really make the world go 'round: she doesn't care if people like her, she knows they will. All three of these contribute to a happy existence she has full control over. What more do you really need?
- Children: Yes, of course, the wicked witch in her gingerbread house - but even the darkest monsters have specks of light left. The innocence of youth is one of very few left of Coventina's. She didn't have a happy childhood, surprisingly of course, and this is where her line is nominally drawn. She won't even feed from children in her most desperate throes, rerouting to tear apart the closest hunk of flesh of guiltless age. See? Multi-faceted.
- Stories: Theater, books, even word of mouth; treat Coventina as you might the King in One Hundred & One Nights and you'll earn an extension of her attention. There are very few people worth the time they spend in their lives - making something of it is a simple, if not easy, way to have the vampiress find value in your continued existence. At least, around her. Another soft spot, but is it truly when her eyes burn such a vivid shade with such peculiar interest?
Dislikes:
- Boors: There are worse things to be than just boring to Coventina. She doesn't kill indiscriminately - often, at least - on the fancy of disinterest, but she just might with certain ill-mannered livestock. People that are disgusting, valueless, impolite and even just downright dirty have all but made themselves worth nothing, and being worth less than nothing is a precarious place to find yourself. At least make being around you not be grating.
- High Morality: Your horse must buckle under the weight of your ego. A refusal to accept the truth of the sketchy parts of life drives her mad; closing your eyes and ears to injustice or the nature of the world - survival of the fittest, pleasure and selfishness - is such a horrible little quality. She won't be moral grandstanded at. She knows her place perfectly well and she knows she'll still be above you no matter how high you climb up your pedestal.
Motivations:
- Riches, Royalty, Adoration: An obvious conclusion to the things she wants most in the world. She'll do about anything for a Jewel and with a heartless little smile to boot - she might not marry rich, but she figures she can buy or prove her way into high status, and people will naturally fall at her feet for it. Vanity has no end when continually validated.
- True Power: There are, alas, things money can't buy. Power isn't solely the strength of her magic, the people behind her or the money she can throw around -- a tragedy, but one she accepts. She needs true power over herself, her fate, and the people around her. Think of her like a control freak who seeks divinity if only to keep things exactly the way she wants them to be.
Fears:
- Engulfment: Coventina will never suffer someone else having power over her. She won't lose control to anyone nor to her vamprism - she will forever be in perfect execution of her faculties, and won't be bound, whipped or made to feel small by anything. Ever. Again.
- Intimacy: You can only love once, and you'll never love again because you know what it feels like and who in God's name can handle that kind of feeling? That loss? Confusion? Besides, isn't someone else with your heart a bit too much like letting them have power over you? That's not going to happen, and she does everything she can to stand in its way. This is why she teases without finishing to the end of her side of the rope-o-war. Get bored. Move on. More in control this way.

History
History:
The world revolves and we remain at its center. We must, after all, when there's no one else in our revolution. It would be kind to say Alexis was a neglected child, but neglect substantiates a lack of oversight by her appearance. Their smothering was unkind. Their words were worse. The lack of interest in her well-being and the growing interest in what she could do for them, what she could bring home, only intensified as she grew older. She had been a sweet little girl, once. She hadn't wanted for anything more than the gentleness of love - of care, even, she'd take just a kind look - and they took those dreams out back and they shot them as cleanly as any pet she had grown attached to. Alexis served one use to her family.
She didn't have a choice but to take her chance to leave upon one sooted birthday in her older teens. She had long given up on a wish for a better life at home: she'd just have to make her own, with determined hands and half-dead eyes. She ran through the streets of Magnolia, gasping and clawing her way through alleys and up buildings, until she knew she was free of them and their raucous, despising yells - that she had found her freedom in these gray skies, no longer choking behind the locked doors of smoky rooms in that blasphemed house.
She didn't make it to Fairy Tail, if her meager skills and ratty appearance at the time would have earned her any chance. She had barely the notion of what to do with herself with no direction and no guidance, and she was waylayed on this attempt of a path beneath bare feet. She fell in quickly with the men and women of these dirty back alleys, falling back into a habit of subservience for just that chance of something improving. They treated her like family between their various uses of the skills she had earned growing up: what was she to do with that family but love them true, back? She did anything for this mage gang. She did everything for them.
She fell for the leader, the recruiter, and it didn't end as surprisingly poor as you might have thought from supposition - he was killed. They all were. Stalked at night to their untimely ends; she alone was spared, turned, and for what? Her body, truly. Her looks saved her again. Once more a purpose she was given, the only one she had ever been told she was born for. That suited just fine. There was no more life in those smoldering eyes anyway.
It took this Coventina many years post-tuning before she attempted to acclimate herself back into human society, keeping out of modern events with a sense of both disinterest and apprehension - it was Phantom Lord that took her in, and their general tastes aligned just as well with her own nature, now. See, she had finally come up with a plan. She'd use herself before anyone else could. She had these tools for a reason ... why couldn't they serve her?
