Saturn
Saturn stood there outside of the academy a letter in hand; it was quite late in the night when he had received it. Later still that he had read it and it wasn’t until the day had kissed the sky that he had even considered going. He hadn’t bee sleeping well; hadn’t been eating like he normally pretended that he needed to. He hadn’t even really been ‘faking’ that whole breathing nonsense. He had felt hollow as of late; felt like all the wrong things were going well… wrong. Even the songs of those around him felt strange; like they were worried about something.

But then that raven arrived on the perch outside of his window; pecking away at the painted glass. He’d open for that little bird, trading a treat for it’s gift. It’d fly off and leave him with the letter he held in one hand now. It was an invitation to the Amaforth Academy. Not as a teacher or professor but instead… as a student. By one such Lumikki. His eyes had cracked open to read that line; she was a teacher, a high jarl, a queen among queens, a titan among those that you would consider the sheep of this world.

She was a guardian of a flock all her own and here she was reaching out. Asking him to come and visit, to come and learn. She must have had some kind of idea of what he needed or had found that maybe just maybe he wasn’t doing all that he could as a general. The last time that they had spoken properly he hadn’t been general proper had he? The demon paused outside of the gates to the academy watching some late night patrols. He’d frown slightly and make his way to the dead entry hall. Standing there for a moment and rubbing at his neck.

His times were busy, her times were busy. But they both found time for one another as such was the life of two siblings. He’d read over the little map and make his way through the empty halls. Exploring through it until he came to the door of her office. He didn’t expect her to be there, how could she? He didn’t dress up for the occasion; was there any need to? The slight jostling of his armor, the clank of a new sword on his hip. His hand reached out and he’d knock; slowly pushing the door open before even waiting for a reply…

There was a hushed sadness to him at this point; one that seemed to dwell a little bit too close to his heart.

Lumikki of Iceberg

"From the turn of a page"

*Tick, toc, tick* The hands of the clock that hung from her room rotated upon its face, its jarring steps within the dance to circle about was like a child skipping around their mother. And its subtle chime was the only sound in the room until on of her crows entered the window.

”What is it lil one,” Lumikki smiled through her voice, she was in good spirits working through her notes. The pen, scratching along the page yet making no sound but its black ink would lay smooth but thickly.

”The beast you called for, the…..was it a Saturn? Well the fiend comes now just as expected. Noisy too, with armor and a sword.” A chuckle slipped passed her lips, as melodic as clanking wind chime and Lumi turned her violet, fuchsia eyes toward the half opened window. ”Good, good, and right on time then. Yes a Saturn arrives, so I suppose it’s time I pack up.” Lumikki handed the bird a handful of her unfinished snack. Grains baked into a bread the was crested with almonds. The crow ate it with gusto and delight as Lumikki snapped her fingers, tucking her notes, pens, and books into her personal dimension.

By the time Saturn pushed through the door, Lumikki was seated upon her desk. The crow was just a few more pecks left of calling his meal done. Lumikki, whose gaze was on the bird, shifted her view to Saturn. The Demon had a grimace that she was eating up long before he climbed the steps and walked the hall. As if his sadness was carried in the wind circulating the room and she lapped up during the wait. The clamoring of metal in his garb only further emphasizing his entrance, to which Lumi had joined with taps onto the dark wood of her desk. ”Why so glum,” she spoke in a velvety sing-song voice that wasn’t high spirits as much as it was simply amused. The sadness in her bother was rich, like a meat slowly cooked over a fire.

Saturn
The academy’s doors were well maintained, well taken care of. This place didn’t feel worn to him; the halls always had that crisp taste to them that you couldn’t explain. There was love in this place all the same even if it felt new to many. The golden hues that normally sat hidden behind closed lids were cracked already. Staring at his sister who had taken a seat at their desk before he had even arrived. His expressions as always that smile but she like some could tell that something was wrong. He’d sigh a little bit as he stepped in, the rune knight politely closing the door behind him.

There’s been some problems, some people losing what they shouldn’t have because of me. I feel… responsible. Not to mention that raid of ours against darkfang taught me much. Or rather taught me that I don’t know much. I have a reliability on items rather than the magic from within.

The sing song voice earned a soft sigh; she was likely enjoying her time as a teacher. As the high jarl of the realm of iceberg. He couldn’t blame her, she put so much effort so much into things. It was admirable and he wished her the best in every venture that she set upon. He’d take a few steps; those honey golden eyes sliding across from her to the company she kept; giving a small nod to the crow. He enjoyed the company of many different animals and he knew the company lumi had kept.

And then I got your letter, inviting me over here. So I came to see what that was all about; it had a certain air of playfulness that got my curiosity.

Saturn knew what the academy was for, was the letter to mean that she wished to teach him further? Teach him how to… better himself? Or were there other lessons she wished to teach him; like the way she helped him take the rose tinted glasses off of his face but still was able to keep the hope and see the good in every person he laid eyes on.
