Amaforth Academy

Ever since the end of the Demonic Invasions, the number of Mages in Earthland has been increasing exponentially. More and more people are born as natural mages, blessed by the ability to use magic without any of the gruelling training many mages endure in order to open their magic circuits. Faced with an ever growing number of Mages lacking proper Guidance, the Magic Council reached out to one of the most prestigious Magic Schools, Amaforth Academy, to fund and develop their institution in exchange for their admittance of any mage who who desired knowledge.

A school that welcomed any mages who displayed the ability to reach the Island, no matter their means. The island's ancient tradition said that any who accomplished this were free to train at the island and seek mentorship from its elders. Even if they lacked any innate ability to use magic, they would find masters who, like them, lacked this ability and instead focused on Magical Artifacts and Martial arts. They have maintained this tradition even now that access to the Island has been massively facilitated by the instalation of Teleporters by the Magic Council, scattered across most Guilds, Council Buildings and smaller Magic Academies.

Despite being funded by the Magic Council, Amaforth is an independently governed territory. Guild affiliations, Country allegiance or even Bounties hold no sway here, where knowledge is the only pursuit and its own reward. However, its Headmaster and Senior Teaching body are mages of unparalleled power, capable of evicting even the most unruly of students, after which they would be at the mercy of whichever authorities await them on the other side.

Rules

Students: People of all ages, mages and non mages alike, are welcome to enroll in Amaforth Academy. Characters of A-rank or below may enroll for free, and are considered automatically Enrolled without needing to apply. S-rank, X-rank and Z-rank characters must pay a one time tuition fee of 500,000J, 1,000,000J or 2,500,000J respectively.

Teachers: Characters of S-rank or higher may choose to become Teachers at Amaforth Academy. Characters younger than 20 years old will become Teacher's Assistants instead. This allows them to mentor one additional character. To be eligible, they must have mentored 3 characters for at least 2 ranks up to A-rank or had a significant in character achievement.

Professors: Z-rank characters, however, may choose to become Professors or Assistant Professors if they're younger than 30 years old. This allows them to mentor 2 additional characters simultaneously. To be eligible, they must have mentored 5 characters for at least 2 ranks up to S-rank or had a significant in character achievement.

Academy Regulations: Characters will not be treated any differently depending on race, guild affiliation or country. Bounties cannot be collected in Amaforth. However, crimes committed inside the premise such as stealing or killing can result in suspension or even immediate expulsion depending on gravity.

Fighting: Unsanctioned brawls are not allowed on Academy Grounds. However students and teachers alike may freely engage in sparring matches and even duels to test their prowess, during which outside interference is forbidden.

Colleges: Amaforth is primarily divided into five distinct colleges, each specializing into a distinct aspect of magic. However, though teachers and students alike choose and primarily focus on one of the Colleges, its encouraged for them to also study with at least one of the other colleges to ensure a full fledged curriculum. To join a College, players must submit a topic with their intention to join. This can be any roleplay topic.

Locations

College of Destruction: The most remotely located of Colleges and perhaps the most feared among the student body, the high propensity for accidents when wielding magic is shown with no greater emphasis than in the College of Destruction, where the raw power of magic frequently damages the facilities and requires rebuilding. Mainly frequented by Sorcerers and Spellhowlers, students are taught not only to harness the destructive forces of their magic, but also the dangers of losing that control.

College of Restoration: Located in vast green fields, the College of Restoration has a relatively central location in Amaforth, evidencing the much needed role of its faculty in providing healing for those injured in practice, sparring bouts or even sports. Primarily populated by Clerics and Spellsingers, students of this College learn a fair share of Medical Knowledge too, training them to become effective Healers in their future as mages, as well as defend themselves and prevent harm to others.

College of Invocation: One of the oldest and most traditionally minded in Amaforth, its more central location evidences the long history of the College of Invocation, nurturers of a style of magic requiring an attentive study and keen understanding of the entity they wish to conjure and control. The chosen home of Summoners and creative Sentinels, here they master all the conditions require to not only perfect their conjuration, but sustain it, and control even the most willful of Summons.

College of Obscuration: Perhaps the most secluded College in Amaforth Academy, the College of Obscuration makes its home in the vast, twisting woodlands of the island, a place where Rangers, Hunters and Beastmasters feel it home. It teaches mages to stay out of sight through long ranged combat and various stealth magics, with a mixed population of mages and non mages. It's said that only when one can hunt and erase their presence from the instincs of the forest denizens can they graduate from this college.

College of Augmentation: Located on rugged canyon on a more sparsely populated part of the Island, the College of Augmentation is the one primarily composed of non mages, specializing in the usage and creation of magic weapons, as well as the use of self buffing and defensive magics. Most students and faculty are Warriors, Sentinels or Berserkers, and it frequently draws the more rugged, physically minded sorts who learn to conditioning their bodies with martial arts and enhance them with magic and artifacts.
