Overall: Elvira Bellerose is, most certainly, the type of women that are best described as breathtaking. Standing at barely 5'5", Elvira pretends to stand tall and proud, although she is barely average when it comes to height, a magnificient creature with a slim figure and pale skin. Her scalp is covered by long, golden locks that, whenever they are out of her usual high ponytail, resemble a lion's mane, always messy and untameable, sometimes hiding her heart-shaped face. Regardless of the situation, Elvira is known to always carry a rather arrogant, mischievous look in her yellow eyes, the kind of look that already suggests how high the ego of this woman is, and how much she enjoys being a leader, being the supreme. Small nose, full lips, and thin eyebrows, small details about Elvira's face just end up building the image of an attractive, charming woman.
When it comes to outfit, Elvira has no set style, really. Considering how lazy she can be, she rarely feels like bothering with such trivial things as finding and setting her style, what's more, she sees it as absolutely unnecessary and limiting. In her case, the golden rule of wearing whatever she finds in her wardrobe applies constantly; perhaps one day she can be seen wearing a beautiful, classy short black dress with a pair of extremely high heels; and on the next day, maybe she could be seen wearing a pair of worn-out jeans and a shirt, something that opposes completely what she wore the previous day.
Extra: As a result of being cursed as a child, Elvira has a mark on her forehead: a fairly simple golden, thin tattoo shines on her forehead, right above her nose. Also, Elvira has the habit of wearing a diadem with a pair of lion ears attached to it, just for fun.
Personality
Personality:
"Don't you trust me?"
Quick advice: Never, ever should you trust this lady. Behind the mask of a charming, noble woman hides a savage monster, ready to pounce on top of your and open your chest... Literally. Looks can be deceiving, and Elvira Bellerose is the perfect example of that.
At first sight, Elvira is but an innocent, charismatic girl, the type of person that seems to always have a goofy smile on her face, someone who enjoys life quite a lot, despite how hard it can get. Calm and cheerful, Elvira both enjoys being among people and pretending to have a somwhat normal life about as much as she enjoys being alone, watching the others and analyzing every single movement they make. One look, a smile, things that you may deem as insignificant can be easily seen by Elvira, and transformed into important information, one that can either help you survive or rise... Or make you fall completely. Never underestimate her, never give her a chance to gather information about you, because the combination of intelligent and observant can cause someone's death. Although Elvira can act like the typical, cute girl that is clueless about the world, the truth is far from that. And the fact that she is intelligent makes Elvira even more dangerous, even outside battle.
Another perfect word to descrive Elvira is "manipulative". She is perfectly conscient that she can't achieve most of the things she want by herself, as much as she hates to admit it, but at the same time, Elvira is not the type of person who will trade fsvors with someone, ask them politely to help her in something, and then return them the favor as a thank you. Where is the fun in that, anyways? It's more entertaining to gain someone's trust and act like a puppeteer in the shadows, bending their will and forcing them, through lovely words and charisma, or aggressiveness and threats. Moreover, it's more beneficial, mostly because Elvira doesn't have to move a finger after she's done with someone to return the favor.
Furthermore, Elvira is an incredibly aggresive woman, mostly when her mask falls. Whenever she is in battle, or when her true nature is discovered, the blonde stops bothering with such trivial things as remaining calm and collected and being polite or nice. Instead, Elvira follows her instincts, further proving that she herself stopped being human long ago, and that she truly carries a Beast's soul, as her magic suggests. Impulsive and aggressive, Elvira tends to do the first thing that comes to her mind, regardless if it's the most stupid thing on earth, and tends to carry it out without wasting much time.
Great beauty carries great arrogance. Elvira is conscious that she is rather decent-looking; and is proud of it. The inconvenient of the entire situation, though, is that Elvira does not stop at being simply happy with her appearance, without giving much importance to it. In fact, she has quite an ego. A gigantic ego. Although most of the time she avoids saying it aloud, Elvira does consider herself better than anyone else, someone who is above all those who are around her. And albeit she avoids saying things like that aloud, just for the sake of getting along with people that she could use at some point, it is clearly visible in the way she carries herself. With a constant look of arrogance in her eyes and a hint of sarcasm or irony in her voice, body language has always betrayed Elvira in this matter. She enjoys being in charge, the word "dominant" seems to have been created with the sole purpose to describe Elvira. That's how well it fits her, and, obviously, it is a consequence of her enormous ego and prideful persona.
Lastly, Elvira is really, really lazy. Granted, she enjoys socializing, or going out and doing productive things sometimes, but oh boy, better pray you don't catch her in a moment where she even has no desire to live, much less to move. Whenever Elvira doesn't feel like doing something, or getting out of bed, believe me, she won't. Nobody knows why's she's like this, and there probably isn't a reason that directly relates to the curse, or to any other trait of hers. Elvira is, plainly said, a lazy person, that enjoys spending quite a lot of time doing nothing.
Likes:
- Socializing: Although Elvira sometimes enjoys spending time on her own, succumbed in thought or just observing people, for the bigger part, she enjoys socializing. Meeting new people, discovering who they are, their secrets, their habits, their lifestyle, all the information that new people can offer is often way too tempting for Elvira. Learning new things about the people around her has always been a weird hobby of hers, although she usually does it to gather some information that could get her out of some rather sticky situations. At any rate, Elvira simply enjoys meeting people and talking to them.
- Animals: Although Elvira is quite violent by nature, and could easily fit into the "Neutral Evil" cathegory, she absolutely adores animals. From the biggest dragon to the smallest insect, Elvira loves absolutely every animal that lives on Earthland and would never try to harm them. Shamefully, her relationship with humans is quite different, even though they too are animals.
Dislikes:
- Rules: Boy, does Elvira hate rules. Anything limiting, restricting, anything that can take away some of the freedom she has, she hates it. This kind of explains why Elvira is the person she is today, and why she joined a dark guild in the first place. Following the rules, being obedient was never her thing. At any rate, people should follow her, not the other way around.
- Summer/Heat: Two directly related concepts, Elvira absolutely despises the summertime, and any temperature that is above 68 degrees Farenheit. It makes people sweat, it makes her sick, and it makes sleeping nearly impossible. If there is something Elvira is extremely weak to, it's heat. Since she's been a child, not only has she always been allergic to sunlight, but also excessive heat has always made her insanely sick, to the point where she can barely move without having the world spin.
Motivations:
- Achieving dominance: Let's be honest here, Elvira has inherited most of the traits that Lions have, which is natural, given her condition. After your family has been cursed for centuries, after your mother, grandmother, and so forth, have spent their life carrying a monster inside, it is only natural for the black sheep of the family to accept her destiny and adopt the monster's attitude, instead of refusing it, like everyone else did before her. Arrogant, selfish and with a strong desire to dominate, to be the leader, Elvira strives to achieve only one thing in her life; the throne. Even if it means she has to leave a mountain of corpses behind her.
Fears:
- Claustrophobia It was previously mentioned that Elvira absolutely hates rules, or anything similar that limits her freedom. So, it only seems natural for her to fear small spaces and being held captive, right? Ever since her childhood, Elvira feared being closed in small spaces, or being held captive somewhere. She has always felt as if she would end up running out of air and suffocate, or that the box would just keep becoming smaller until it crushes her. And this fear never really went away. Even now that she is 20, a somewhat adult woman, Elvira will act like a complete child when it comes to small places. In fact, she avoids nearing small spaces in the first place. If she has to crouch in order to fit there, don't expect her to go in. Ever.
- Aerophobia: Another rather childish fear, Elvira is absolutely terrified of heights, and bt consequence, of flying, staying at tall places, and anything that involves heights. Her reaction when it comes to heights is similar to when it comes to small places; she will either completely refuse to set foot on anything high, with the sole argument that she feels like she'll fall, or if she is forced to go up anyways, she will simply curl into a small ball on the ground and become an absolutely useless pale ball until she returns to safety.
Magic
Magic Name: Curse of the Lion
Magic Element: Fire
Magic Description: Curse of the Lion is a rather peculiar type of caster magic, rarely encountered. Esentially, the magic revolves around Elvira having two souls; her own soul, and a Nemean lion's soul inside her body. Side effects of this magic are she can communicate with the Lion in her own mind, which is kind of useful, and weird at the same time, but that's not the main point. This magic allows the user to mimic many moves of the Nemean Lion, whilst not having to transform into a Nemean Lion. Instead, the user can essentially copy the lion's abilities, making it look as if the lion were casting them instead, by creating a copy of the lion every time she casts a spell. In other words; every time Elvira casts a spell, as a part of the curse, a pretty clear image of the Lion will appear, acting as if it were casting the spell, just for the sake of appearance.
Aside from that, Elvira's magic mostly relies on the usage of Offensive spells, self buffing spells (typically spead buffs) and supplementary spells, making her quite a glass cannon. This means that she is the type of person who has a lot of damage and offensive moves, but, due to the nature of her magic, she cannot create defensive spells, or buff her endurance in any way, making it the ''high risk, high reward'' type of magic, meaning that, although going in is risky due to the low defensive utility of this magic, as long as you are capable of deleting someone in a few seconds, you obtain rewards (or victory) pretty easily. History
History:
- History:
Elvira was born on the 21st of December, in a magnificient mansion in the outskirts of Fiore, on a rather cold night. Being the firstborn daughter of Fleur and Felix Bellerose, one of the strongest couples in Fiore (economically/socially speaking), and members of one of the oldest families in Fiore. Given the circumstances, most people believed that Elvira grew to be the typical spoilt child, with a pair of rich parents that compensated the lack of attention with all sorts of items that children enjoyed. Sadly enough, that was not the case. Elvira was the type of child that, although being capable of bying the world with her parents’ money, she didn’t want to. Elvira pretty much grew up in the hands of her maidens, which educated her as Elvira’s mother had instructed them, while the Bellerose couple was too busy either traveling, like in Felix’s case, or isolating herself from the world, like in Fleur’s case. The pretty much lacking communication between Elvira and her parents, alongside several issues that ocurred while Elvira was a child and a teenager ended up destroying even the small bond they may have had. And also led to Elvira often referring to her family as “rotten”.
In order to understand the events that made Elvira be who she is today, we must dive deep into the story of the Bellerose. As it was mentioned before, the Bellerose are an extremely old family, one that has always been defined by their obsession with perfection, and their greed. In fact, the very first member of the Bellerose, the “father” of the family, betrayed his own wife, the woman he claimed was the love of his life, for money, which led to her death. Alas, before releasing her last breath, the betrayed woman used the little forces she had left to curse the Bellerose. For the eternity, until the family line ends for whatever reason. Every male heir of the Bellerose family would be born extremely weak, and, in case he survived the few years of his life, which was rare, he’d be forced to spend a life of suffering, constantly tormented by health issues. Female heirs, on the other hand, had a punishment about as bad. Every female in the Bellerose family is cursed to carry two souls from the day they are born; until the day they die. One, being their own soul, and the other, the soul of a beast. Never was it specified what beast exactly, and it seemed to vary from woman to woman, but the case is, that the effects in each of the women were always the same. They would keep hearing the voice of the beast in their own heads, commanding them to do things they didn't want to do, until it drove them insane. And so, most male heirs of the Bellerose died because of their numerous illness; and the women always commited suicide, because the voices drove them insane. And it went on like this for centuries, which led to people giving the Bellerose the nickname of “The cursed”.
And Elvira was absolutely no exception. The first time she heard the beast was when she was five years old; though for the first time in centuries, it had not bothered her, like it did with all prior members of the Bellerose. While the little girl didn’t seem afraid or bothered by the voice at all, Fleur Bellerose freaked out completely and refused to come out of her room for days, saying that her child was even more cursed, that she was already born insane.
Soon after the voice appeared, Elvira began attending a private school, as her parents wanted her to get a rather decent education anyways. However, since the very first day, children began bothering Elvira. She was but a little child that kept conversations with the lion that was in her body, which often scared the children, or made them see her as a freak. Poor blondie never understood what was wrong with her, as a side note. All those years she spent at school, ignored and mocked for something she had not chosen to be, Elvira could not comprehend why people refused to accept her as a normal human being. Not only that, but teachers didn’t really help solve the issues. Much like the children, most teachers were terrified by Elvira, and believed she was either a demon; or insane. Therefore, Elvira was a victim to constant bullying, laughter and mockery from her classmates and teachers. She was an emotional wreck, confused by the entire situation at school, and upset by her parents’ attitude towards her, so she never really stopped speaking to the lion, or understood why it was wrong. He was, after all, her only friend. However, that led to a problem one day, as it was expected.
When Elvira was around ten years old, she and her parents moved Magnolia, to Hargeon, after Elvira nearly slit a boy from her class’ throat. Well, technically speaking, it was her. However, what truly happened, was that Elvira simply allowed the beast to come out of her body, even if it were for a short while, and help her "be happy", as he had promised. The rumors had quickly reached every corner of Magnolia and, as much as they disliked it, the Bellerose were forced to move out, at least until people forgot about the disaster Elvira had caused. As time went by, the relationship between Elvira and her parents only worsened, although it seemed impossible in the beginning. Elvira distanced herself more and more, finding refugee from her daily torture in books and animals. The latter were, quite frankly, the only living beings on earth that loved her then. Animals never judged her, and although they felt the lion's presence inside of Elvira, they always ended up trusting her due to the fact that she treated them well.
During her teen years, Elvira was pretty much self-sufficient; she did everything herself, refusing all help from maids and ignoring the orders of her parents In fact, as she grew older, Elvira stopped even speaking to them. Instead of wasting her time with her "rotten" family, she worked on more productive things; like controlling the transformations. She, unlike anyone before her, had learned to accept that the curse was a part of her, like the Lion, and had began abusing the fact that the lion could materialise sometimes, in order to achieve her goals. This bothered her mother quite a lot, since she could not belive, that her own daughter was the first black sheep of her family, the only one twisted enough, to accept her fate. In fact, Elvira's parents always thought that, the reason as to why she was never really bothered by the entire curse thing, was because she was insane in the first place. And you can't drive something insane, if it already was. However, Elvira accepting the curse never stopped the others from mocking her for who she was. Many knew about her curse, and spent their day bullying her about it, laughing at her, and even physically abusing her, mostly when Elvira learned to mock them back for their pettiness. In fact, the bullying she was enduring was so severe, that on one day in particular, the 13th of March, this entire torture made Elvira reach a breaking point. After being beaten up, kicked, laughed at and spat on, something broke inside of her, the little bit of mercy she still had inside of her had dissapeared in an instant, the little sanity she still had left, was gone too. Instead of crying, she started laughing. It was not her typical, cute and cheerful laughter though. It was a sinister one, the type of laugh that sends chills down your spine and makes you wonder if the person before you is sane. The laugh of a madman. It took her but a few seconds to unleash the Nemean Lion inside her, to allow him to materialise fully, and command him to go ahead, and cause a bloodbath, quite literally. If there had been ten people abusing her that day, then none of them survived. And Elvira? She made the final step towards her freedom: she quite literally ran away from everything that made her sad, she left behind her family, the school, everyone, willing to begin a new life. To show the world that, if you provoke a lion too much, you're basically signing your death warrant.
The next two years were pretty calm, although she had to live on the streets, as a thief, sometimes an assassin you could contract. At that point, Elvira had realised that she had distanced herself from rules and the law too, and although at first it had seemed pretty terrifying, she had ended up accepting it, and seeing it as a positive thing. Legals had to obey the rules. She?
She was finally a free soul.
And one lucky day, as she likes to call it, she discovered about the existance of magical guilds. All type of people that could perform magic, people like her, joined one of those, be it legal or dark, in order to earn money through putting their extraordinary abilities to use in diverse missions. The idea of joining one of those guilds charmed Elvira immediately, as she finally saw an opportunity to go somewhere where, not only could she use the curse that was placed on her family to earn money; but also to be in an environment where she was at least accepted, somewhere where she could be free from prejudice and hate. And that was the moment in which she decided to join Phanotm Lord. A place where the fact that she disliked rules was appreciated, where she could discover the true limits of the curse and abuse them, where she could finally be herself and do as she please, without having someone blame her for it.
