Hair: Bluish/Teal (Dyed, natural color is brown) Eyes: Green Overall: Raphael has a fairly regular body type, with nothing particularly about his stature standing out. If it weren’t for his brightly colored hair he would blend in pretty easily in a crowd in regular conditions. His standard dress-code goes even further in preventing such an event from happening: Raphael wears mostly blue clothing, to the point where he might be assumed to be a member of Blue Pegasus. While the various style of his clothes often differ, he generally wears a blue coat (it’s heaviness based on the season) which covers a black T-shirt, along with blue pants. The most outlandish part of his wardrobe is, oddly enough, not blue though. Raphael more often then not will wear a red eye mask, wrapped around almost like a headband. In cold weather he will usually have a red scarf on that matches it. Extra: N/A Personality Personality: Raphael, from a young age, identifies with the characters of the stories he read, yearning to be the hero like those he read about. When he unlocked his magical potential, he realized that now he had the opportunity to be just like them. As such, he decided to act as much as he could like the heroes he read about, to the point where it has become a natural part of his personality. He has a flair for the dramatic, and will do what he can to make situations more entertaining to him. This can come from adopting an over the top serious attitude, or a more goofy, klutzy sort of demeanor. Raphael, when he isn’t trying to act differently is at heart a caring person. While he can be quite selfish and attention seeking at times, he genuinely cares about those whom he is close to, such as his guild mates. He truly does believe in the ideals of a hero, and while he does goof on the roll a little, he always ends up taking it seriously. Raphael is deceptively smart, and while he doesn’t usually draw much attention to it, when he wants to he can be quite strategic about situations, despite putting up a naive act. As a rule, he does his best not to show negative emotions in front of others (the hero never cracks) but he does in fact feel them. While he acts like nothing can offend him, he can hold large grudges towards those who have slighted him; and his confidence is not nearly as limitless as it might seem. His years struggling to get by on his own helped him with that. Overall, Raphael is an odd case. He is borderline delusional in his ideas of heroism, though he is aware of this fact, and thrives in it. He acts with the best of intentions, though how much of it is true selflessness and how much of it is self-fufilling is unclear. Likes:

Magic Magic Name: The Sacred Language Magic Element: Light Magic Description: Users of this magic have gained knowledge of a magical language. Through the use of this language, they are able to use spells that are formed via the letters from it. These spells have quite a bit of versatility, as each letter can employ it's own unique effects. In fact, at higher levels, the user might even be able to mix letters together in order to generate combined effects! This does not mean multi-function spells, but rather, spells which have different attributes from different letters. For example, the letter alpha repulses, and the letter theta creates an orb of light around the user to defend them. A spell using both of these letters together could create a wave of energy emanating from the user in an orb that repulses an enemy. It would be a unique spell that would have to be created separately from the original two letters, but would take aspects from both spells. However, there are some obvious limitations to the magic. For one, despite the varied and unique functions of the magic's letters, they all share the same element of light, obviously. This means that there is a certain weakness to nature based powers, along with the added strength against darkness. Another restriction is the fact that the letters have specific effects, which means that the user's ability to make up spells can be hampered. The magic allows for offensive, defensive, supplementary, and self-strength buffing spells. History History: Raphael was born into a very wealthy family. His childhood wasn't particularly unpleasant; his parents were kind to him, he could always get what he wanted and he generally just lived a life of comfort. While he didn't hate it, Raphael couldn't help but be unsatisfied by this way of life. He spent most of his time reading, and couldn't help but be enthralled. The stories he read were filled with magic, adventure and an excitement that was lacking from his life now. As Raphael read more and more, he couldn't help but wish for that sort of life. Yet, he knew that it was impossible for him; even if he was able to free himself from the obligations of his birth, he still couldn't use magic. However, this all changed for him when he discovered a book in his family's library at the age of 13. It was very old looking, and seemed different from many of the other books that he had read. It had a certain energy to it and upon closer observation it seemed almost like a sort of textbook rather than an actual story. It had some sort of odd writing on it that Raphael couldn't recognize, and he thought of just putting it away and grabbing something else. For some inexplicable reason though, he didn't, and carried it off to his room, with the goal of attempting to decode it. He spent a good three years trying to decode the book, while staying on top of all his other responsibilities as well. It was a slow process, but he felt like there was an unseen force helping him along. As he worked his way through, understanding more of what the book said, he began to realize that this was a spell book. He wasn't sure what that meant, but he was excited, it felt just like the stories he had grown to love. He worked harder and harder to make the push to finally understanding the language, until one night he finally did it. He had taught himself this ancient language, and was now capable of actually reading the book. He stayed up late into the night reading, and as he did, he felt an energy filling him up. He couldn't put the book down, reading about all these different spells. By the time he had finished, he felt almost electric, and once he had closed the book, he realized why. His whole body seemed to be exuding some sort of blue light. He was surprised by this sudden development, but the surprise quickly turned into excitement as he realized what had happened. He had gained the powers of the book he had read! It was a situation so similar to that of the protagonists of the books he had read he couldn't help but think maybe he was the hero in this story, the story of his life. Realizing that with this power in his hands he suddenly had the freedom to become someone powerful, he decided to take advantage of the opportunity and leave his boring life behind. He planned his runaway as carefully as he could, but he quickly was apprehended. However, after a spirited talk with his parents, and a demonstration of what he had learned, they, in an act of goodwill, allowed him to strike out on his own. In addition to this, they told Raphael that he could always come back if the whole "legendary magician" thing didn't work out for him. He could sense his parents weren't too keen on what he was setting out to do, but he was happy they weren't putting up much of a fight. He left his home with a little bit of money to get him by for a little bit, a few belongings, and an excitement for life that he had never felt before. He was going to become just like the characters he read about, and become someone worth remembering! Of course, his journey was not nearly as romantic he thought it would be, and was subject to quite some hardships. In the grand scheme of things he was quite weak, and was barely able to make it by. He quickly realized that in order to grow, he would have to join up with a guild. There he would be able to meet strong magicians, have access to better jobs, and if he got powerful enough, could make a name for himself! He did his best to look into many of the guilds, and eventually settled on Lamia Scale. He lived there for a while, developing his talents, meeting guild members, and working hard at whatever missions he could. He grew to greatly appreciate the bond he had with his guild, and was truly happy he had chosen it. As a few years passed, he realized he was growing stronger and stronger, and he couldn't help but feel like everything was coming together with his development into the hero he wanted to be... |
