Odin wrote:Dashing at his maximum speed, Odin would reach Finn in a fraction of a second, dashing low towards the man's stomach. Having already prepared himself for the attack, Odin's fists were colliding with Finn just as he reached the man, converting all the momentum of the dash into force on the fighter. The first fist went straight to Finn's solar plexus, aiming to wind him. The second jab, hitting just after the first, would strike the man's abdomen, causing severe pain to his stomach.
Having dashed low, Odin had two distinct advantages over his opponent. Firstly, there was no way for Finn to know which way Odin would attack, or even if he would, which would give the man very little time to react to the dash, and even less time to do anything about the strikes. The second advantage was put into place by Finn himself. Having raised his two arms higher, his view of Odin would be partially blocked as the Grimoire mage dashed towards him, which would mean it would be harder to even know the attack was coming, let alone react to it.
Finn wrote:Finn's stance was somewhat akin to a muay thai stance mixed with taekwondo- Two arms up, non dominant leg in front. This was not a stance that obscured vision, but rather one that was made to offer protection for vital areas in the upper body. Lucifer seemed to process the stance in a way that gave the advantage to one who struck low- That, however, was wrong.
Finn was not in a position to sit by idly and watch as Lucifer made his move- To try to play this fight reactionary wouldn't quite be his style, especially not in the first few rounds of the tournament. As Odin dashed forward, Finn had time to process the dash before any sort of attack would be thrown.
The thing with martial artists were that reactions often happened quickly- Both were on edge. Both were prepared. This was not a man getting the drop on an unsuspecting man, but trying to close the distance to a trained fighter. As Odin shot forward, Finn acted. Firmly pressing his left foot to the ground, Finn would spike his right knee upwards.
Lucifer was coming in low, dashing forward with his face on equal level to Finn's chest. Lucifer likely had a plan in how to attack him, but his mistake was that he had to close the distance before he could send his strike. With Finn's forward motion, combined with Lucifer's dash, it would seem as if the distance would close faster than Odin was prepared for- Before any attack was thrown. He would be dashing, full speed and face first, into Finn's knee that was aimed for the exact center of his face.
Odin wrote: However, as Odin dashed towards his opponent, his eyes had stayed on Finn's lower half, as that was where Odin was about to be in front of. From this, Odin saw the tensing of Finn's body, and watched the man's knee come up to meet Odin's face, as the dark mage reached the body of his foe. Odin knew there was no way to avoid the attack, due to the speed at which he was dashing, but still he had a plan.
As the knee came rising up to meet Odin's face, the dark mage would wait and choose. Odin would collide with Finn's knee with his forehead, headbutting the man to cancel out the forces. The knee was still causing the damage, and it certainly hurt, but Odin was able to stop himself from being at his opponent's mercy, and being shot upwards.
