Videns gave a polite smile to the Neko as she offered to do another job with him. “I'd love to. Should we head to the quest board then?” Videns asked, more rhetorical than anything as he was sure both of them would make their way to the board. As they walked Videns was surprised at how social he was being. Usually he wouldn't bother tagging along with anyone on a quest and would rather work solo as per the norm, however despite the fact the two ,ages were only a quaintness he could feel ages though he was getting a drive to work from her, so,ethnic he was lacking in the past. Videns only hoped he wouldn't let the Neko down again like in Magnolia. He regretted not being more helpful to her like she was to him. Videns made a mental vow to try and repay the girl to the best of his abilities. “So Alice, you said you were ranking up soon. Is that in your rank in the Rune Knights or as a Mage in general?” Videns asked hoping to be more social. Videns was genuinely curious also as Alice had mentioned she could talk to higher ups about the poorer district and made it sound like a menial task. 214

Alice turned to ask Videns to tag along on another quest. She still had no idea what it would be as she had not checked the quest board since her arrival in Era. There was much to do, much people to talk to and catch up with, but she would be fine to do a few things today as well and become better acquintences with Videns, ”Yes, let’s shall go there.” she said as she started to walk back towards the huge city centre and out of the poor region, she was a bit focused on herself but soon turned her attention back to Videns as he called her name, ”Oh that. It’s a bit of both. There are rumours that I will be the next Lieutenant as I’m starting to reach what they call A-rank of being a mage as well. Which is a weird thing to say as I’m not really great with magic, all I do is store items in an invisible pocket and get them out when I need them.” She shrugged, ”This however is that I’m working my butt off to get that rank I want. I am summoned to the Headquarters but I like to make them wait.” She said with a wink because she couldn’t help it, however she might soon show up, as long as she needed to make sure that the details of Magnolia’s incident were still perfectly hidden.

Videns gave an involuntary chuckle to Alice’s reply. “I have to say I really admire that. Going for what you want with such drive and enthusiasm and best of all you aren't even taking any crap!” Videns said praising her as if she had cured an incurable disease. He himself had always wanted to do something to be remembered by however as of late Videns wasn't sure if he was making much head way and though that such a feat of becoming recognised within Fire was a distant dream at his age. “To be honest that kind of ambition gives me hope. I myself want to move up in the world and be well known, and seeing you reach a Lieutenant status at your age has kind of rekindled my ambition, so thank you.” Videns said now smiling broadly at Alice.  He wondered if he was flattering her a little too much, but as they walked he couldn't help but feel like those words were more true than anything he had said in a while. It wasn't long until the two had exited the poorer district. As they made their way to the centre of town they passed by a bar on the main street on the way to board. “Hmm, maybe after we could get a drink there? I can properly thank you for inspiring me and also to celebrate your ranking up a little.” Videns said still beaming.240+214=454

For some unexplained reason she had to blush when Videns thanked her for rekindling his ambition, she basically didn’t do anything but told him what was happening with her as she worked hard, ”Oh well you are welcome.” she tried to chuckle it off as to avoid showing how shy she was about this. She didn’t want to boast about herself as she wasn’t even sure if she would be made a lieutenant, maybe it was smart to head into the headquarters after this job or after that. But she wouldn’t say no to a drink but she would skip the alcohol, considering how she felt this morning, ”Oh why not. Please tell me about your plans for the future, any goals?” she asked as she entered and set herself at the bar and order a tonic. She would wait for Videns to order as well and make sure that she would sit a bit sideways so she could properly face him. Who would have guessed that they would hang out considering the disaster first meeting in Magnolia, but she didn’t plan to bring that up yet. She didn’t mind it for now and she thought that would stay for today as well. They would chit chat a little before it was maybe smart to pick up that other job.

Alice had asked Videns what he had planned to do as they entered the bar. Videns knew the answer but was not sure how to word it. “Well, I guess I just want to be remembered. My parents worked hard all their lives but had very little to show for it, and i would rather avoid that. I’m not sure how I can do it but I just thought doing a lot of jobs around the place would help with it.” He said. Although he had thought long enough to answer it, he still did not like how he answered. At least Alice knew what she wanted to do and was making progress, while he was there with a vague dream he wanted to do. Although ALice did give him muse to work hard, he thought of how would he really be remembered. As a guy who did a lot of quests? That didn’t seem very appealing to him and as Videns ordered a beer at the bar he thought harder about what he really wanted to be remembered by. His hard work, but hard work needed to be done on something and he was not sure what. Videns quickly found himself with his brow furrowed and looked up. “Sorry just thinking about something.” He said as he heard someone speaking about how a crest was stolen from them not too long ago. Videns turned around and asked if they needed a hand. The man agreed to let him and Alice help. 252+454=706

Alice couldn’t help but smile, ”Wanted to be remembered seems a nice idea.” she mused out loud as she thought about her amnesia shortly and turned to look at him and see him frown very heavily, she shook her head and took a sip of her tonic. She didn’t like the bubbles for some reason but didn’t feel like acting ridiculous so she turned to see if Videns got back to this earth surface, she shook her head and waved away the time that he thought, ”No problem.” that’s when she heard someone as well. There was a guard talking over his beer, on which she frowned, he was complaining about the family crest of the family he served that was gone and she turned around completely too as Videns asked if he needed a hand. The man showed her a picture of the family crest that was missing and she took the picture from him, she could easily reach it and took it closer to her to see it better before handing it over to Videns if he wanted to see it, ”Any idea where it was last seen?” the guard told her that he was almost sure someone stole it and sold it. His master needed it soon but couldn’t find it as he was on a job himself, he asked Alice and Videns to help search as his master would pay for it royally. This meant that they needed to hit the streets to ask people, ”It seems the quests come to us. We don’t need a board.” she said with a little laugh to Videns.

Videns was still deep in thought when Alice had complimented his hope. If he had heard it he would have smiled but being so deep within his mind he made no reaction to the comment. Luckily when he did come around she did not seem to mind. Videns smiled graciously to her. Not too long after the guard behind them began to complain about how he couldn’t do his job. Well that was how Videns saw it anyway. He had then showed them the picture of the crest. Videns had thought he had recognised it as one of the original families of Fiore’s crest. “Oh yeah it’s pretty rare. That kind of historical item would sell for loads on the black market.” Videns said as Alice would hand the paper to him. Videns examined the detail of the crest and it’s material. “Although it is a copy it’d still be valuable since very few were ever made.” He went on as he rolled up the piece of paper like a parchment roll. The guard raised his beer thanking them for doing this for them and said he’d be waiting here when until they returned. Videns smiled politely at Alice as she said the quests were coming to them. “Yeah, they surely are.” He said. Videns kept his eyes on Alice for a few second before heading out of the bar. He thought she had gotten paler but was sure he was imagining things. Her tone of voice also seemed softer to him but once again he disregarded this. Probably a cold. He would think to himself. Once on the street Videns would ask any passers by if they had seen any sign of this crest. Most shook their heads but on the third person he had told them of a man who had that under his arm and directed them to go to the outskirts of the poorer part of the city. Videns smiled as he knew where to go now and lead the way. There they found the man the person had described. He seemed to know Alice as a knight and gave the quest back without any force at all. Once they got it the two mages would head back to the bar to receive their reward. 381+704=1085

Alice remembered as Videns explained a few things that his parents did something with history. It’s how he told her about the Neko and the people worshipping cats, she nodded to herself simply for remembering this, nothing wrong with her brain so far. She shuddered as she chucked the tonic and jumped off their chair to go and work on the job. Which would mean that she would ask people in public if they had seen the family crest recently. She would wait for Videns to be done with his beer before she would follow after him out of the pub. Time to ask strangers but she didn’t had so much luck, mainly because she wasn’t holding onto the paper and only had been able to describe it. However there was a man that knew and thanks to Videns they found that man. He described a place where they could find it and she wasn’t really paying attention but Videns would take the lead as to where to go. Which is when they sort of bumped into Gaud and she said hello and chatted shortly with him before bringing out the point that he had something that was stolen. Turning pale he immediately fished out the family crest of the Messer family and handed it to her without much ado, he didn’t want to have anything like that in his possession. She thanked him dearly and headed back to the bar with Videns, ”I should have thought about him immediately. Ah well, this job was easy.” she told him while again entering the pub and showing the crest to the guard whom paid them both equally. ”Any more plans for today?” she said as she took her seat at the counter again, no tonic this time but what would she drink now?
