Auberon O'Leary

Personal

Name: Auberon O'Leary

Age: 19

Gender: Male

Sexuality: Gay

Class: Berserker

Rank: D-rank

Guild: Guildless

Tattoo: Left collarbone, electric blue.

Face: Shouyou Hinata, Haikyuu

Appearance

Height: 5'11

Weight: 175lbs

Hair: Short, curly. A dull orange.

Eyes: Orange

Overall:

Auberon has a rather lightweight air about him, on that's energetic and caffeinated without being hyper. His build is toned but not bulky, but his muscles are still very visible when in combat. His skin is pale, as usual for one with natural ginger hair. A slightly longer than average neck holds up his small yet angular and youthful visage. A sharp nose points towards his full red lips. Large almond eyes showcase dark hazel eyes framed by equally hazel eye-brows. His ears stick out rather cutely, absolutely fitting his face.

The clothing normally worn by Auberon could be considered lightweight. If by the ocean, and if he's wearing a shirt, it's normally just an off-white color long sleeve shirt worn with brown khaki shorts. On his feet are either  dark brown leather sandals or athletic shoes. If it gets really warm he may just ditch the shirt, but if it gets too cold, he has a nice black parka lined with fur stuffed away in storage.

Extra: ???

Personality

Personality:

Auberon is a rather adventurous soul, craving exploration to satisfy his never-ending curiosity. Born from a desire to sail the seas and conquer new land, his ambitions to see the unseen have driven him far in life. Once he hears tale of a hidden temple or some kind of treasure, his eyes light up and he's instantly dead-set and focused on finding that thing or seeing that sight. To him, nothing is better than laying down on an unexplored beach and just enjoying the raw and  pure nature.

People would say that Auberon is stubborn and tenacious. Once his eyes are set on something, he'll get it one way or another, better or for worse that thing he desires will eventually be his. His mother had a hard time rising him due to this, but she came to admire his dedication and drive in life for everything he put his mind to.

Auberon is a good story teller. His words are addictive, people gather far and wide with open ears to digest his tales of lands far away and even a few of the jokes he cracks. Although muddied by his accent, people still find his baritone voice soothing and calming. Nothing is off limits for him to talk about, his openness about everything is one of the things that makes his stories interesting, Auberon doesn't spare the details.

Salt water runs through Auberon's heart of gold. A maritime man who enjoys all things ocean, he has that hospitality and kindness known to small fishing villages. He strives to be as kind as possible, helping people with any problem they appear to have. People are sometimes unsettled by his friendless and tendencies to chat up random strangers as if having known them for ages. Some people aren't a fan of his lack of minding his own business,  but others are enamored by his familiar yet foreign mannerisms.

Likes:

  • Beaches: Most of his days, you can find Auberon on a beach, either laying in the sun or just swimming among the fish. The water is inviting to him, the smell of ocean and salt calming to his senses. Generally, he tends to stay away from those touristy beaches, and instead favors the hidden getaways away from other people where he's free to do whatever.
  • Drinking: Unsurprisingly, like a pirate, one of his pass times includes getting drunk. His liver probably hates him for it, but the sweet burn of alcohol is something he always enjoyed, especially the sweet buzz that soon followed. Auberon is a friendly and flirty drunk, one that people look forward to getting a bit tipsy to keep the party raging hard. Any kind of alcohol will do, generic or brand name is fine by him.

Dislikes:

  • Liars: White lies or innocent lies are one thing, but purposeful and malevolent deceit just gets his blood boiling. It's a semi rational dislike, but he sometimes finds himself embarrassed by the amount of frustration it brings him.
  • Snobs: One kind of people he never relates to are the pretentious snobs. Nothing can be done for him to ever relate to them, but he finds that they tend to look down on his small-town heritage, often choosing to insult his perceived lack of intelligence among other things. He also tends to find that these snobs think they're better than everyone else, which is also another dislike of his.

Motivations:

  • Wealth: His hometown was rather poor, and the day he set out to join a guild, he promised his mother that he'd return with boatloads of cash in order to help out everybody in need. That's not to say he wants to gain it by nefarious means though, but he'd never give up a good old-fashioned treasure hunt.

Fears:

  • Being Disliked: One of Auberon's well kept secrets is that he is very self-conscious to the point of obsessing over slight insults or petty disagreements. Everybody must like him, he wants to be seen positively by everybody. He thinks it stems from a lack of friends as a child, but he doesn't really care about the cause. Given this fear, he is very sensitive and often doubts himself.
  • Heights: One thing that makes Auberon quiver is a cliff. His body shuts down when faced with a ledge, his brain opting to make his body get down low and grab on to the nearest thing and hold on for dear life. Needless to say, he doesn't like towers of any sort. For some reason, this fear probably surpasses his fear of being disliked, based out of pure primal dislike.

Magic

Magic Name: Storm Surge

Magic Element: Electricity

Magic Description: Auberon's Magic is focused around a blue tinted electricity that often has a nautical or oceanic flair. His offensive spells are generally quick melee based punches that strike fast and hard. Generally, his electricity is imbued within his arms and delivered upon contact along with other desired spells. Combos are something that Auberon loves to pull off, his flashy magic making his combat very aesthetically pleasing. Before battle, Auberon will most likely invigorate himself with a self buff that would increase either strength, or endurance. A fault in this magic is that it has little in the way of defenses or ranged attacks. If necessary, Auberon could pull off a supplementary spell, like using his electricity to charge something.

History

History:

Born in a small and poor fishing village, Auberon oftenly went hungry. There was little to do besides explore the glacial flats and thick boreal forest. His mother was a baker and father a fisherman, an unlikely but fitting pair, as described by every other villager. Just because they were poor didn't mean he had a bad childhood. Generally, Auberon was a gleeful kid, enjoying spending time adventuring with his friends generally wherever the northern wilderness yielded to them.

If not in the wilderness, upon reaching adolescence, he was usually partying and getting drunk, ignoring his studies just a bit too much according to his mother. Acedemia wasn't his strong suit, but english was his favorite subject by far. The least favorite subject of his was math, it just seemed unnecessary. Their school was small, only having one teacher that taught every subject to different people at once. Unfortunately, this meant it was a little more difficult for him than if he had gone to some fancy school on the mainland.

One foggy morning, the whole town was startled awake by a sudden crashing sound. Already awake for nefarious reasons, Auberon rushed out to see what the cause was. The fog made him trip over a few loose roots, but he could clearly see why the noise was so loud upon reaching the sand dunes.

A large boat had run ashore. Worried about potential casualties or injured sailors, he scouted the area to see if anybody had crawled or tried to swim ashore. There was nobody around, and from the sound of it, there was nobody aboard either. Stacking a few lobster traps on top of each other, Auberon made a make-shift stairway on which he climbed shakily. From the looks of it, the ship appeared to be a cargo one. Curious to see what he could plunder from the ship, the youth descended into the hull. Inside, it was pitch black besides a soft blue glow. The pattern of light was similar to the refraction underwater, the light show ethereal.

The source was an aqua green orb, glowing atop a marble pedestal. Confused, he approached the orb with caution. He could feel the orb tugging at his soul, it was calling out to him like the song of a siren, but silent all the same. As soon as his hand touched the orb, he felt electricity in the air while a salty sensation filled his mouth. Suddenly, the ship's existence wavered before abruptly blinking out of reality, leaving Auberon to fall into the salt water currents. The cold water was like pinpricks on his body, which screamed at him to get out of the water. Thankfully, the youth was an excellent swimmer that was able to make it back to shore, where a crowd had gathered and had witnessed the strange scene.

His mother was the first to ask questions, but instead, Auberon simply held up his arm on which electricity crackled. The villagers were not very used to the idea of magic. They knew it to exist, but had never encountered it in their busy lives. Generally, magic was something on the mainland, the villagers too busy to concern themselves. They were intrigued, but also excited. Of course they knew of tales involving mages becoming rich upon joining a guild.

Honestly, the town was a bit too eager to send Auberon off to be the town breadwinner, but the new mage didn't mind in the slightest, as he might as well use his newfound powers for good. His mother made him wait a few years before sending him off, but when she was sure of his capabilities, the young man took the nearest boat and sailed to the romantic port town of Hargeon.
