Eva’s eyes narrowed. There was something about this person that made her feel strangely suspicious. She didn’t want to be one of those knights that picked on someone with just their so called “gut feeling” but she agreed that in their line of work, they were made to have so many experiences with criminals, both powerful and weak, to know when someone looks guilty and not. She was not going to show it but she was going to have an eye on this man.
Eva felt a smile curve up her lips behind the line of her tea cup. He had apologized out of reflex but smoothly covered it up. Inside her head, down the road of rationality, Eva believed that this man was not the culprit. She couldn’t guess how this naturally fidgety person would ever work up the courage to rob someone or anyone. He didn’t even know how to hide himself and while she didn’t want to admit, there were so many other reasons as to why this man was nervous around her. She had also met those kinds of people that strangely got nervous around a figure of somewhat authority despite not having a single red mark in their history.
“Indeed,” she started. She placed the cup down. “It is unfair how we are sent out to take care of other people’s incompetency. If he didn’t know how to keep his things his own, he would have been better off not making those possessions,” she continued, her eyes still on the red haired man. “But then again, I suppose we exist for those –fools- unfortunate people,” Eva left out the word she wanted to say, opting for some kinder remarks instead.
She paused for a little. “After all, we wouldn’t have to be this worked up if it wasn’t for people who could not be satisfied with what they have,” She pointed out, wondering if he would give her some sort of reaction to that.
