He would quickly explain a few things to her and she assured him that she had cooked most of her own life and that she only recently became used to the luxury life of not cooking at all, but she would handle. She put the apron over her head and knotted the cords behind her back. She flipped her hair over her shoulders out of the cord around her neck and lifted it up to put it in a messy ponytail and get the long orange hair out of her face.
She would start easy with French fries and a hamburger. Now the hamburger was even easier because she never had made French fries but in the end after messing up one, that no one had to know, she finished them perfectly and served them through the door to the bar and Batra would take over from her. That was the easy part, after that there were other orders that she first didn’t understand how to make but she would not screw this up royally, she needed the points to be a nice person, doing whatever job was given to her. She had to be nice when two more hamburgers and five hot dogs were ordered at the same time and she had to hurry to prepare them too, alright the hamburgers were least of her worry but how to make the hot dogs was most of the problem. While keeping an eye on the meat, she would fix the buns and unions, gherkins and sauces and finish it a little later than she had hoped because Batra came checking on her once. She didn’t complain, she smiled, continued and grumbled as he was gone, she would be finished in a minute and put them again on the other side of the door and headed back inside before someone saw her. She was losing her happy mood and her mask to act but fine, most of the people seemed to have ordered drinks and she was off for a while before a breaded chicken wing was ordered and not much later another one. Thank god that wasn’t that hard either.
She would sit at a stool that was in the kitchen and crossed her arms in front of her as it took more than ten minutes for another order to arrive. She leaned with her back against the wall which was cool and she felt heated from standing in the warm kitchen. She closed her eyes but had her ears perched up to keep on listening in case she heard a noise. Nothing happened and she was sure she almost dozed off if she didn’t hear the door again but she jumped up before her eyes could open properly, ”Thanks for your work, Alice.” What time was it? Did she sleep, ”It was no problem at all, I’m happy I could help.” she said but she accepted the jewels obviously. She would take the apron off and headed out of the kitchen to go back to the place where she was staying right now.
