"Did they succeed?"

Malachi was patiently waiting for her to say something as he was staring outside the windows of the Rune Knight's headquarters. He wasn't the worst. He clearly understood that Phantom Lord had aided them when needed against Grimoire Heart, but in the end a move had to be made to investigate a report that had been sent to them. After a brief discussion among a few members of the Council, they agreed that attacking Phantom Lord would be the easiest way to find out whether it was true or not. Even if they excused Phantom Lord, they could not excuse that person for his prior crimes. To fake ones dea- it was too soon to get ahead of himself and jump to conclusions. Malachi sighed and kept staring outside, still waiting for her to reply.

"Still nothing."

Nicole replied with a tremble in her voice as she tried to concentrate on her spell. Her pupils had disappeared entirely. Instead a deep blue light illuminated out of her eye sockets. With her spell, she could target a location and use her clairvoyance to summon an eye which allowed her to witness everything through it. For this situation, she had carefully summoned one near the ongoing battle in Oak to oversee everything properly from a high perspective and witness the progress of the mission. Unfortunately, nothing of interest was being observed yet by her.

Nicole let out a painful scream. Her spell got interrupted in a way the caused some serious damage to her. She placed her hands on her eyes as blood began to drip out of her sockets. She then stood up, one hand still placed on her right eye but the other held onto the chair tightly to keep her balance. Slowly, she departed from the room while letting out some angry words towards Malachi.

"Cesare is dead, Malachi. You were wrong. The malevolent aura that was observed was his younger brother, Dante. We've got a bigger problem on our hands now. You will take responsibility for this covert operation in the next meeting and state that it was all your doing."

Malachi got startled when Nicole started to scream. He knew something went wrong. Perhaps he was right after all and Cesare was not actually dead. A grin appeared on his face as he thought about the next meeting in which he would reveal his covert operation and its success. He completely disregarded Nicole's pain and suffering. Then Nicole suddenly stood up and walked towards the exit. Malachi's face turned white after hearing her words. He realized he had failed miserably. Out of the three brothers, Dante was the strongest one. They were lucky that Lance was good natured and led a prestigious guild, Cesare however was a thorn in their eye but if necessary they would be able to keep him in check by using Lance to confront him. Dante was a whole different case. His powers exceeded both his brothers tremendously. That man was nothing less than a monster. With a distressed expression on his face, Malachi rushed out of the to go his chambers and concoct a new plan.
