After having wandered about the world for quite some time, Vyrst found himself in the large city of Magnolia, home to one of the world famous guilds known as Fairy Tail. Vyrst didn’t find the Fairy Tail guild very interesting as he had always been of the opinion that he should be free and untethered as he traveled around the world. He was more interested in making his way around the town to try some good food and maybe hear some of the life stories of the folks who lived in the city. After having a nice sumptuous meal in a somewhat upscale restaurant, Vyrst made his way to one of the poorer districts in the city, as that was where he was expecting to find the most interesting stories. Those who lived impoverished lives often had to go through much more hardship than those of the upper class. Vyrst was a bit out of place as he traveled through the area, as his hair and clothes were well kept, with him wearing a form fitting, long-sleeved black shirt and some loose fitting pants that allowed for flexible movement. It was pretty casual wear for him.

Having begun to walk through the poor districts he often came upon people working hard or children playing with whatever makeshift toys they could manage to create. He didn’t interfere in the activities of these people and if he was noticed he just flashed them a nice smile and continued on his way, content to observe for the time being. After traveling around for a bit, he came upon a large cathedral that was somewhat out of place in the poor area. It wasn’t surprising to Vyrst that the cathedral was there, as religious figures had always been a bit loose with their coins when it came to showing off their wealth and power. Vyrst wasn’t the religious type, but he was always willing to go inside and see what sort of things the people and priests believed in, regardless of whether or not he thought it to be reasonable or true.

After making his way inside he noticed a very young looking priest surrounded by hordes of what looked like very sick people. They had runny noses and looked to be distraught with fevers and pain. Perhaps there was an epidemic of sorts, but Vyrst wasn’t the type to fear such things, and so he approached the priest and the group of sick folks. The priest was surprised to see someone that was not of the area, but he was quick to come up to Vyrst and say “Welcome friend, I know this is a bit much to ask, but would you be willing to help me treat these poor people? They are wrought with disease and there are far too many people for me to distribute medicine to alone.” Vyrst didn’t have to think about his answer to this question, as it just gave him an excuse to go around talking to the people about their lives and what their dreams for the future are and such.

“Ya sure Father, I’ll do whatever I can to help.” Vyrst said with a smile as he and priest made they way over to where he was keeping the medicine. As they walked, Vyrst learned that priest’s name was Father Jerad, to which Vyrst had replied “You’re pretty young to be a priest aren’t you?”. Most of the priests he had seen were old timers who had been serving the church for most of their lives, so it was surprising to him to see one so young. Father Jerad just chuckled and said, “I get that a lot, but I have devoted my entire life to serving Illumine, and the Lord has blessed me with this position for my piety.” It was obvious to Vyrst that this man’s entire existence revolved around his religious beliefs, and that the man was willing to follow the ideals of his chosen god without a fault. Meeting such a man brought great joy to Vyrst’s heart, as watching people follow their desires with that much passion and fervor was something that he was always keen to see and experience.

After reaching the location of the medicine, Father Jerad said “Be careful with the distribution of this medicine, and make sure to keep yourself as clean as possible. If you were to become contaminated the distribution of medicine would be for nothing.” Vyrst had some vague knowledge of the concept of squalor and carelessness spreading disease, so he was prepared to try and follow Father Jerad’s instructions as close as possible. “Sure thing Father.” Vyrst said as he followed the priest’s instructions and began to make his way over to the sick crowd of people. Having the medicine in hand, he had to make sure that the people did not try to crowd together and form a stampede, as that would make this experience much more difficult for him. Out of a slight sense of morality, Vyrst made his way over the groups of people that had children first, as he felt it was more important for them to get the earliest treatment, both because of his belief that children have yet to be able to follow their true desires, and because they were in much more danger of serious damage than their parents.

Vyrst spent a few hours walking around and speaking with the sick people, making sure to keep himself clean and the medicine sterile. He went out of his way to listen to some of the life stories of the people around him, paying special attention to the older folks, who had much more to tell about themselves. After having helped Father Jerad with what he asked for, the priest sent him off with his own dose of medicine saying, “Take that dose of medicine for yourself, to prevent the illness from affecting you as well. May Illumine bless you for the kind thing you have done today.” Vyrst just laughed and said “Don’t mention it Father, I hope you keep following your heart and devote yourself entirely to your god.” Having said that, Vyrst downed the medicine and made his way out of the cathedral, continuing to search around for interesting things to experience.
