Odin †

Another evening, another quest from the Bishop that involved murdering a group of heretics. The night previous to this one, the one known as Santos had requested the use of Odin's skills to brutally murder a house full of men, women and even a couple of children. Interestingly, out of all the ten people that had been in that room, the only one to ever commit a true crime had been the only one to walk out alive, that being Odin himself. He had been tasked to eliminate innocents simply because they wished to depose the Bishop in power, someone who they believed to be an evil man, unworthy of the power which he had given himself by being the head of the church. Ironically, they had been correct, and died because of it. Odin had met many ambitious men like Santos, although he was the first to openly, while not directly, deal with those who tried to end his reign. He had his power, and he was not planning on losing it any time soon. His ambition and cunning were traits to be admired, although it was doubtful that anyone in Dahlia would feel the same way, especially not the target's of today's mission.

Another priest arrived, running up to Odin to give him a letter from the bishop, detailing what it was that was required of the Lich. Another priest, who once again became terrified of Odin's form upon simply looking at him, having not believed that a true Lich could actually be alive, or as close to it as Odin was, and definitely not believing that he would ever come into contact with one. It was truly a shame, as they all feared the dark mage's abilities, despite not even knowing what they were. They were judging him purely based on his looks, which surely meant a few of them suspected they knew what Santos was asking him to do. Not that it mattered, as the priest ran away soon after delivering his note. During the previous night, the note had simply been an address of people Odin was to kill. This time it was slightly more detailed, and written in a hand of one who wasn't afraid to do what needed to be done.

The note from the bishop told Odin all he needed to know. Flyers were being put up about the church, as a way both to gain new clergy, as well as put the fear of God into the people of Dahlia. The only problem was that these flyers were being taken down overnight, and the Bishop wasn't a fan of this. Odin was tasked with finding out who was tearing down these pieces of paper, and disposing of them in the same way that he disposed of the conspirators in the bolted up house. It didn't, interestingly enough, mention what Odin was supposed to do with the bodies after killing them, but the dark mage had plans for what to do. First of all, he had to find his targets.

Odin †

Discretion, while a necessary aspect of one's character when assassinating people, as well as a large part of the career of a dark mage belonging to Grimoire Heart, was something Odin had found increasingly difficult now that he had become a Lich. It wasn't that he was less able to sneak around a room than he had been beforehand, he had retained all his skills just as before. The only change, while a monumental one, was that he was less able to naturally blend into a crowd. Not only was this because of his form being easy to see within a crowd, but the simple aspect of needing a crowd was something that was now going to be ever more difficult than it had once been. No one in a crowd would remain in that position if a skeleton appeared standing behind them. It was the equivalent of trying to blend in while being covered in blood and gore, in other words night impossible. Because of this, Odin only really had one option for sneaking about the place and keeping an eye on his opponents, as well as tracking them down without arousing suspicion, and that was to stick to the rooftops.

It only took a few moments for Odin to be standing atop the roofs of Dahlia, overlooking the entire town from his vantage point. No one could be seen in the area at all, but it only took a few moments of hanging around one spot with a poster in view before two men, at least they appeared to be male figures, approached the poster and ripped it down from the wall where it had been stuck. That made it easier certainly, as well Odin had to do now was kill them both.

Odin followed them quietly, having made it down from the rooftops, but eventually they caught sight of him and, from his appearance, no doubt just assumed that he was after them. Correctly guessing the situation, the two men sprinted away from Odin, who kept up at good pace before they ran into an alleyway like fools, as this was also a dead end. Odin had worn a cloak with hood over his face, covering it in darkness, so only his hands were seen as skeletal, something that the men finally noticed as one of them shouted towards Odin in defiance.

"Do you know what is scarier than the monsters who hides in the light and shows its teeth in the dark? The monster who does not hide in the light but hides its teeth behind a smile."

At this, the dark mage simply laughed, and removed his cloak, before speaking in his dull, hollow voice. "And you will now learn that there are things scarier than that." Equipping his Asuma Knives, Odin watched the men approach him trying to attack. They went high, swinging sticks above them that they tried to bring crashing down. Each man was on either side of Odin, allowing him to dash between them, his body low and his blades raised, allowing him to slice them right along the throats of the men, killing them slowly. As they fell, and Odin dried his blades, he noted their sad expressions. They had done what they believed to be right, and died because their foe had greater funds than they did. Odin almost felt bad for them. Almost, as he walked away to receive his reward.
