The day was young, as Zanto made his way from the hotel room and onto the busy streets of Magnolia. However, as he walked along the dusted brick road. He could see that the people didn’t seem as cheerful as before. He knew this feeling and had seen it often during his stay in Baska. A sickness was coming around. Now, Zanto got sick as well, but he hated the idea of getting sick from other people and that just sort of through him off. Having awakened the magic that was given to him for a plenty fee. Zanto hadn’t been acting quite right. His mind was nearly always consumed with rage. Even if it was the slightest thing, like a fly moving around him. And being surrounded by sick people would only cause a vein to form on his head.

His eyes would sort of glaze over as he made his way down the strengths. Trying hard not to let the beast that was in him come out because that would mean the death of everyone. Soon, he would come to see a cathedral. What way best to control a demon by visiting a church. Walking to the doors, he didn’t know that he was about to meet someone that could probably change his life for the better.

Quest Link

It was gloomy; the gray clouds were a veil over the Hargeon Town that was evidently a foreboding warning to the trouble ahead. There was a sense of restless here and there among the civilians, but the stranger in a silver mop wasn’t the least bit interested in the situation – or at least he thought so. The young man shivered from the harsh gales that blew across the land and pull his coat closer to his body, in an attempt to prevent his body’s warmth from seeping out. Coming from a country where it was summer all year round, this type of season was no good for him, not that he minded although it would certainly take him more than a few months to get used to such weather.

At his foot, the man would kick at a stray pebble with a frustrated expression, watching it rotate over the dust for several turns, unsure of what he should do for the rest of the day, and doubtful of his own desire to even do anything. His aimless bout led him to the Kardia Cathedral and it wasn’t as if he was any religious, nor had the belief that gods existed to end up in this place. Albeit, a glimpse of scarlet caught his attention, and he would find a man standing by the oaken doors. A peek through the gap, he would see people laying in hospital beds and nurses running back and forth from one ward to another.

”Quite a sight, isn’t it?”

As infrequent as it was, King felt sorry for those who were affected by the sickness, and relieved at the same time that he wasn’t among the victims. It seemed like growing up in the harsh climate had provided him the advantage of being slightly resistant to sickness.

As the silver haired man opened the door. Zanto would also get a peek inside. He could see people lying on the floor on top of make shift beds. It was clearly the same thing that had been going on in Baska. It was quite unfortunate that the same thing had been going on here. As if it was being injected with blood. The vein on his forehead would grow even larger as he did his best to try and hold the anger in. “Yes, I’ve seen a situated just like this in the past. I just hope that it isn’t gonna be as bad as before.” Said Zanto with a grunt. The demon in his body that he tried so hard to hold in would try to make his way out. Anyone with any sort of sensing abilities would be able to tell that if he wasn’t able to get under control now, it would be a rude awakening for anyone near him.

Ba’al was a demon of pure carnage and he saw humans as lesser beings. A race that he fed upon as if they were rodents. He could feel his body heat up as he would begin to sweat. Zanto was having a mental battle with the demon within and he wasn’t going to let him come out, no matter what it took. His hand would come to lean against the wall of the cathedral. He wouldn’t say anything, but to the newcomer it would appear as if Zanto has caught the contagious sickness as well. He just hoped the man wouldn’t try to help him.

The stench of hospital was sickening—he never liked being in places like these, though it wasn’t as if he particularly hated them. ”A situation like this?” Confusion crossed over his features wondering if a sickly event has occurred before in this town, or perhaps in a different area. King wasn’t sure what he was doing in such an area, although if he had decided to walk out on this he would have felt horrible afterwards. The young man entered the church further and his eyes would glaze inside the building. So far, it seemed that they weren’t attracting any attention from neither the patients nor the nurses, considering how busy they were.

His attention would shift towards the man that he had just encountered and seeing him lean against a wall caused him to frown, slightly worried about his well-being. ”Are you alright?” King rushed to his side and peeked at his features underneath his long crimson hair. ”You look rather pale, do you want me to take you to the doctor?” He surely didn’t want the man to pass out right in front of the entrance as that would cause quite a scene. Perhaps, he came to visit the doctor to receive treatment. The thought crossed her mind and speaking of which, a man with a white coat swerved into the scene, coming to his rescue.

As the door was kept open. The familiar scent of decay would come to roll over Zanto as he tried as hard as he could to keep his composure. He wasn’t sick, but the smell would cause his face to pale a little. The silver haired man catching sight of this would approach Zanto. Asking if he was alright. Zanto didn’t know if he wanted to respond or if he wanted to just leave the place before he was annoyed even more. Zanto would come over his negativity and was about to say that he needed the help of a healing mage, but before he could a man would interrupt him.

A man inside the church would catch sight of both him and the other guy. Looking, the man would begin to approach the doorway of the church. Zanto would assume he was the head of it since he wore the traditional black robes. On the outside he looked like a man of pure holiness, but on the inside no one could guess what he really was. In the past, Zanto had dealt with a priest that had sold him this forbidden magic. A magic that did it hardest to try and take over his body whenever he got even the slightest annoyed. The beast hadn’t taken over his body ever, but he could always feel the malice that it gave off.

“Amazing! Would you two men help me take care of these patients. I am in dire need of help.” Said the Father as he gave a look of sorrow and pity.

The red haired man almost appeared as if he wanted to say something to King, but his attention was quickly drawn towards the man in a lab coat approaching towards him. He looked tired; bags underneath his eyes and his cheeks looked sunken from exhaustion, and yet, the emotion behind his voice stated otherwise as he requested their assistance to help out the sickly patients. Since he had nothing else to do, he figured that he could use this to kill time and nodded, ”Most gladly.” He would shift his gaze back towards the other man, whose name was still not known, wondering if he was willing to take up on the offer despite how unwell he looked. He could use some company, after all.

”Come, follow me.”

The doctor gestured to follow his lead as he directed them towards a section that was filled with medicines, beakers, capsules and almost every other thing that was related to hospitality. The doctor handed them a basket filled with medicines and tablets, only to instruct them that they were to distribute the medicines to the patients. He did inform that some will be quite difficult to handle, though King was positive that it shouldn’t be of much trouble to him. This is quite an easy job.

And this was where their job would begin. After being invited into the cathedral for some light work. Zanto and the silver haired boy would start to help all of the sick people. The Father has handed Zanto some meds, so that he could give them to most of the people that were sick. This led Zanto to walk up and down different aisles of sick. He started from the wall closest to the back of the cathedral and would make his way back down towards the door. Overcoming his annoyance, the demon that raged in his body would try to stop its awakening. That was for the better as Zanto didn’t want to fight the whole of Magnolia if it would have come to that.

Soon, he would come to have given mostly all of the patients their meds. Only half of them as he had left the other half for the silver haired kid to take care of. Coming up to the father, he would say “I’m done. Do you know what type of sickness is going around here? It seems to be pretty nasty?” A look of pity would come to appear over the priest’s face. He would reply, saying “Yes, indeed it is. None of our doctors know what is happening, but we are doing everything in our power in order to take care of it. Young man, your job here today is done. Take this medicine and be on your way to a more secure location. I would hate to see someone like yourself end back up in this place and not under other circumstances.” Said the priest. Having handed Zanto some meds and jewels, so that he could be on us way.

With a basket of medicines in his hands, King was unsure where he should actually begin with his task that was just given to him. Golden orbs glided over the area and all he could see was sick people, sick people and more sick people—and he clearly didn’t want to be here, nor did he wish to attract any of the diseases. ”Ugh,” the man groaned inwardly, though he didn’t hesitate to start the work. After quickly scanning the row of patients, King decided that he would begin from the first row and the closest patient to himself. He would quickly eye the redhead, just to make sure he was alright, despite how he refused to answer him. It wasn’t much of his problem, but he didn’t want another person passing out in the cathedral again. There was already enough sickness in the air.

Hours of handing out the medicines, which somehow felt like eternity for a particular young man named King, he was done with the job—or so he assumed so. The other half of the patients had received had medicines from the man he had just met and the rest: from himself. The mage released a rather stressful groan as he stretched his limbs from bending and whatnot. The task wasn’t as horrible as he had expected; most of the patients were quite eager to be in a conversation with him despite their illness, though he only asked regarding to their well-being, and whether they felt horribly sick to their death or not. Once the job was dealt and done, he’d proceed back to the priest, handing out an empty basket before retrieving his jewels with a grateful smile.
