The sand was warm between his toes... He wriggled them to nudge his feet into the crumbly soil. Underneath, the moisture cooled his feet. His fingers followed suit as his palms pressed into the ground beside his hips. He eased his head back, till his face stared up into the blue sky, his eyes clenched shut tightly, to avoid the harsh rays of the sun... And still, instead of blackness, he could see the red-orange hue. Vic's black jacket lay abandoned beside him, along with his white T-shirt. Now, Hargeon was a town he could get used to. The boy had a fondness for beaches... The waves crashing against the shore, to be pushed away, only to return stubbornly... It was repetitive and meditative.
The wide ocean, that stretched almost infinitely reminded him of his biggest weakness, at least against his magic, perhaps it humbled him, there was a certain peace in the acceptance of his vulnerability, the absence of his invincibility. He arched his neck forward, slowly opening his eyes as he stretched. His eyes scanned the frothy line where the water greeted the sand, following it to both his sides... for the most part he was alone, at least there was no one in his immediate vicinity.
A few boys playing a game of volleyball in the distance, far enough that he could barely hear them. He squinted and noticed a figure walking barefoot in the sand... On the other side, far away from the sea, he saw a couple, nestled under the shade of the palm tree... A soft grunt escaped his lips. He could think of a few things that would make this day just a little bit better... Like icing on a cake. He cocked his head towards the lone figure walking idly, he squinted to try and make out the gender. It looked like the figure had long tresses, but they were dark, so it could have just been a part of the silhouette, not to mention several males boasted long locks... He'd just have to be patient and find out. Slowly, his gaze turned back to the sapphire water that glimmered in front of him, feigning nonchalance.
