CAITLYN, THE CROWNED HEIR

■ 213 WORDS ■ "I will serve you in your next life." ■


It would be a matter of time before Mikiko would rise to her fame, but until then, Caitlyn would have to blindly serve. In her next life, she would find the power and the freedom she desired. Perhaps in the next life she would be born of the blood, and perhaps she would serve her goddess much more closely...

She sat there, staring into the hole, the woman laying there, refusing to die. It was none her fault. She was the strongest of them all, it was nothing that wasn't expected of her. Caitlyn was weak, she was useless, and even by her hand she could not end a life that was so above her own.

"My apprentice should be here soon. If you wish, we can take her life as well." As well. It was a strange thing to add. Perhaps her sanity would slip away, but perhaps she would have an ear that the god's voice would finally fall upon.

But was that the burden? To die just as all of predecessors? That was the cost of the purebloods. Perhaps she would die an animal, just as her precious Les did.

She would find whoever was responsible. She would find the man that made her heart soft.

And she would tear his own from his flesh.

FINAL GOODBYE
THIS IS ALL BARON'S FAULT
She sat at the bottom of the pit holding onto her stomach, the sword bloodied and beside her. She would wait for the girl so she would know the truth of this family. She was nothing more than a nameless shrine maiden. Chisu would send her to Oak as her final wish, to tell Shura the fate she fell to. It was something that would shake the man, if anything at all. It was her intentions to cause a shift in that man, and with it Phantom Lord would finally be in the place it needed to be. When the second face would appear it was then that swords would surround the woman and peek over the top of the pit she would be laid to rest in. It would be her new room, home, and grave.

She would not allow these mortals to infest Fiore any longer. If everything went to plan, Shura and Miah were lost in Crocus causing havoc and death just as they imagined. In the slim case that they had a change of heart, the outcome would be the same for them all. Bodak would make sure the change of a master would be easy and minimal. Perhaps even she would ascend the ranks.

I WONDER WHAT MAKES YOU TICK

She threw the doors open, the ill and elderly would move at the force of the sound. She would sprint within, worried, lost, confused. There would be none one this level of the temple. It would only lead to one outcome. She would bow to the shrine before swinging the second door open and descending the steps down to the dark basement.

Candle light would hold the room in a visable texture. Her mentor would be before the hole, staring down into it. Her body would call for Mikiko to stand beside her, of which she would obey.

Of that spot, they would both look below and see their heir hanging on to the last of her life. She needed help, medical attention. She was going to bleed out, and with her gaze, a message. No words needed to be said.

Swords would fire upwards, as if to kill the both of them for their treachery but would fall short. It was not for the sake of a low amount of power, but rather a different intention. She was not going to kill them, instead she had a message for the both of them to pass on.

And Mikiko would hear it, and she would take it to where it needed to go.
