Akira Shimada
Akira yawned and stretched as she finished her fries. Lazily she watched as the other two, her teammates, finished their meals as well. Tsuru of course made a bee-line to the room, he had been wearing that look of exhaustion for a while now. Akira lingered awkwardly, she too wanted to thank Asura for her help today and trusting Akira to handle things despite her small hitches... But the girl wasn't too good at stuff like that. 'I'm not too sleepy...' she mentioned softly, wondering how exactly to invite Asura to spend some more time with her. They were in a team of sorts now, it only made sense that they got to know each other a little better. Almost all the occasions, on which Asura had met the lunar mage before, were unusual and Akira hadn't quite been herself.

The girl tried to tuck away the wayward hair that insistently fell into her eyes. Nervously, she rotated the dark belt like wristband around her wrist. 'Are you?' she asked, considerately, if Asura was as tired as Tsuru, but just better at hiding it, then perhaps now was not a good time. However, if she wasn't... 'If you aren't, wanna go for a walk or something?' Akira asked, her voice a soft mutter, and her gaze quickly shifted from Asura to the window over the counter at the back. Akira found it difficult to rest her eyes on the blonde's face after asking the question, she was afraid of being disappointed, in case Asura betrayed lack of interest. No one liked to be turned down. However, it would be even worse if she looked like she'd rather not, but said yes anyway... Akira really didn't like pretention.

So she stared idly, at the scene framed by the window, seeking solace from the moonlit street outside. The time was ripe for her usual midnight stroll... 'It's alright if you'd rather not...' she added, safe guarding her feelings from hurt and giving the woman an option to just deny the request. Not everyone was as nocturnal as Akira... That would be reason enough for the sixteen year old not to take it personally.

Asura Nightshade
After a long day of work, it felt nice to finally sit down and rejuvenate for some time. The food filling her stomach slowly did everything to quench Asura's tiredness and by the end of it, she was refreshed and awakened. It seemed as though Haru was far too tired after the trio's little escapade and rushed to his room to rest up, which the blonde could understand. She'd probably be tired too if she hadn't slept the entire day away and was now, as awake and well-rested as she had ever been. Asura wondered whether Akira would go to sleep, as well. Maybe, she might considering that she neither of the two were very talkative and so, it could become awkward. Hence, Asura decided she'd head to either to her room and read or maybe head outside for a while.

However, she was surprised when the raven muttered about not being too sleepy and asked whether Asura was tired. It seemed as though someone was rather chatty today. The raven did seem a little self-conscious of Asura's response as she could see her anxiously fiddling and could note the emotions transpiring through her face. At Akira's question of whether she'd want to go for a walk, Asura wondered whether she had mind reading skills. She quickly said it was okay if Asura didn't but before, the raven could finish, the blonde shook her head lightly.

"I'm not too tired." She said, "Well, after all, I did spend my entire day sleeping so I'm rather well-rested and awake now. The walk sounds like a good idea." She would lightly attempt to smile towards the raven's direction and would hope that it didn't look too weird. Asura got up and removed her apron as she motioned for Akira to follow her out of the kitchen. The restaurant was pretty empty as they made their way out of it. Asura stopped and turned back to Akira. "Wait here for a moment okay? I'm just gonna grab a sweater for both of us in case it's too cold outside." If Akira agreed, the blonde would quickly race to her room, grab two sweaters, her pair of rounded glasses and head downstairs. She'd hand one to Akira as she put on her glasses and say, "Ready to go? You can back out still if you want, no pressure." Of course, if Akira had changed her mind in this short while, the blonde would go out herself as she had initially planned to.

Asura seemed to brighten up at the idea, even though it wasn't too easy to tell from just her tone. Akira's watchful eyes did finally snap towards the other girl though. She could sense any hesitance or doubts on the blonde's face. It gave Aki a small sense of hope. 'Right? Most people like sunrises and sunsets, the moon should get some love too...' The lunar mage added softly. A starlit sky was a riot of joy for the girl. The silence was a fair bargain in her mind, the day lent a pretty scene some color, but the night offered it peace and serenity.

It was nice when her attempts to be forthcoming and social were gifted with an agreement. A smile tugged the side of her lips as the blonde mentioned and explained that she was well rested, Akira wondered if this suggested that their walk could be a long one... But maybe she was getting ahead of herself. She merely nodded and softly added, 'Lucky you, although I can't say I did much myself, just strolled around for patrol duty...' That reminded Akira that Asura was a Rune Knight too, was she shirking duty, or was today her day off... She didn't look like the sort to ab,andon her post, briefly her eyes narrowed, but she filed away that question for later, Akira didn't want to scare Asura away by becoming some sort of an interrogator.

Akira slipped off her stool and followed Asura's actions, removing her apron and hanging it over the one the blonde had put away. After which she ducked out of the kitchen as per Asura's directions. When the older girl asked her to wait so she could fetch some things, Akira nodded but pursed her lips. Her pessimism floated to the forefront again and she started thinking that she may be stood up and this was just another way to say no, that Asura would never return. She paced and tried to assuage her crippling thoughts. She heard glasses clink in the back and noticed Batra arrive to wipe down his bar. He wished her goodnight and thanked her for her help, just as Asura returned carrying some woolen garments and her glasses. 'Oh! Thank you!' Akira gleamed, she was so glad to have been proved wrong and additionally grateful for the concern. So Asura had a considerate approach and also apparently possessed the foresight Akira lacked. She plucked the sweater out of the woman's hand and slipped it on. 'It'll definitely get cold, silly me... Thank you...' she said again, softly, still mumbling, but her tone was bright and sweet, not as jaded.

'I'm not going to back out! I have the sweater on and everything!' she exclaimed, gingerly holding out the knitted piece to show it off. She made it out of the bar as Batra called out after them to stick together and stay safe. She still had her finger clasped around the sweater when she curiously asked. 'Where did you get this from? Its so soft...' It didn't look like the usual knit Akira found in the shops here, she wondered if Asura got it from home or something...

Asura Nightshade
It certainly appeared as though Akira's mood had gone up quite a notch, as she could note from her tone which had become enthusiastic. The soft way she uttered her thanks, not only once but twice made Asura realize the fact that Akira was still a kid. The blonde let out a little giggle at the raven's insistence of not backing out from the walk and she motioned for Akira to follow along as the duo would exit the bar just as Batra told them to stay safe. "Thank you for your concern, Batra. Good night." Asura would say to him and closed the door behind her as Akira had already exited.

At Akira's mention of the sweater being quite soft, the blonde let out a little smile at her as she put her hands in her coat pocket. "Do you like it? You can keep it if you want." Asura said, "As for where I got it, well, I stitched it myself. Surprise, huh? I probably don't look like the type." The blonde would then, go forward as the moon's rays descended on the two girls. There was hardly a soul out in the streets of Crocus, the city was quiet although, some drunk laughter could still be heard in the distance. Asura had to make sure that they wouldn't pass any sketchy people. While she was sure that Akira could take care of herself, she'd rather avoid any form of confrontation especially, when it was nearing almost one in the night.

Asura would walk in a particular direction, one that led to a small, nearby park. She had went recently there to train some kids and had met Fenrir by chance. Maybe, she and Akira would walk to the park, sit for some time and come back, afterwards. Regardless, at her improved enthusiasm, even the blonde found herself to be somewhat glad that Akira asked her for a walk.

"So, now that I think about it, we don't really know much about each other, huh?" Asura commented as she was walking. That fact was true. Asura had met Akira when the girl had went missing; even then, they didn't talk much. They had met in the bar too but for some reason, the blonde's memory of that night was extremely fuzzy and so, she didn't remember much. And, then they met today so while Asura knew Haru to some extent, with Akira, she was still rather clueless and hoped to get to know the girl during this time.

Akira's eyes widened, had she just backed Asura into a corner, this was a common occurrence, if someone had borrowed something and praised it, the other would often feel compelled to let them have it, at least for those that were gifted with a benevolent nature. 'Oh... Its... very nice, but especially if you've put in work into it, are you sure you just want to give it away?' Akira asked, her voice for some reason was a little more timid than usual. She'd embarked on this journey, but she was as out of place here, without Tsuru as she was in the kitchen.

When Asura mentioned that she expected Akira to be surprised, since she didn't look like the sort of girl who'd knit, Akira responded thoughtfully. 'I've stopped trying to judge people by type... Because... I used to hate it when people judged me just based on my appearance.' she reassured. To ensure the conversation didn't lilt of any dark tones, and to avoid slipping into unpleasant memories of her past she added '...Besides quite a few look like warriors, but I'm sure they do other things and on the flip side, there are so many who don't look like warriors, but we were all defenders in the last attack...' What are you doing Aki, stop talking about sad things all the time... a voice in her head reprimanded her and she cleared her throat to hopefully serve as a distraction, hopefully, the wouldn't start discussing war stories again.

Usually, Aki knew her way around, having done this so often, but she let Asura take the lead, it felt nice to not have to dwell on what route to take. It reminded Aki that the company of people did take away the burden of decision making sometimes. The moonlight split the dark skies, peering from behind the wayward clouds the slunk past that white orb... Aki looked up in amusement like she always did.

The blonde couldn't help but let out a little chuckle at Akira's hesitance to take the sweater once she'd learned that Asura had been the one to make it. This girl was very much like a child and it felt almost refreshing having someone who was perhaps, a little more clueless than the blonde normally was. "It's fine, you can have it, I mean it." Asura reassured the raven, hoping that she wouldn't feel obligated to decline it. Plus, truth be told, the blonde wanted her to have it. "I would appreciate it if you did take it actually. I've never had anyone to give anything to and if you'd accept it, then, you'd be the first one to and that would make me happy. Because it's kind of sad when you make things only to not have anyone to give them to." The blonde had murmured the last part of her little dialogue as she really did not intend for this to become some sad escapade.

Asura shook her head lightly as Akira remarked that she had long ago, forgone the habit of judging people by their appearance as she had been judged many a times too and frankly, Asura could relate. The blonde nodded in appreciation and said, "Well, that's a really good trait to have. More people should have that quality in them." It was true in the sense that although to most people, Asura Nightshade was a blank canvas, if they took the time to look deeper, they'd see that she was filled with colours just as vibrant as the world's were.

"So," she started, "while we're at it, let's do a game of 20 questions. I ask one question to you and then you ask me one." Asura hoped that this would do an effective job to make their little walk a bit more interesting. "I'll go first. If you don't want to answer, you don't have to." She said, hoping to the raven more comfortable. "How do you and Haru know each other?" She looked at the raven through her rounded glasses and patiently waited for a response.

It seemed they were headed for the park, which was so starkly different at night, in comparison to its state in the day. Asura pointed out that they didn't really know each other, and Aki nodded in agreement, their encounters in the past were not truly an embodiment of who they were as people. Akira waited for the older girl to offer a solution.

When she recommended twenty-questions, Akira's quizzical look must have been enough to get her to explain. She felt silly for needing clarification, to begin with since the name was a pretty obvious indication. 'Ok...' Akira said tentatively, she was a little wary of the questions that were going to be thrown at her. Perhaps Asura was as keen as she was and sensed this apprehension, she was quick to provide reassurance, but Aki shook her head. 'No, no... I'll try my best to answer every question, I don't want to be a spoilsport...' she muttered as she waited for the first question.

Asura's choice of the question while not unfounded, caught Akira off-guard. It made sense, she'd always seen them together, but for some reason, Akira expected something more related to just her, at least this was sort of easy to answer. 'We joined the Rune Knights on the same day and one of the higher-ups paired us off...' she said, furrowing her eyebrows as her thoughts flitted to that day. 'Kinda been stuck at the hip ever since. Apparently we complement each other or something.' she muttered the last part, eating her words. 'My turn?' she confirmed eagerly before offering her question. 'Why did you join the Rune Knights?' she asked, it was a question Aki could never answer for herself, some insight from others was always appreciated.

Akira's determination to try to answer as many questions as possible caught the blonde a little off-guard. From the little meetings they'd had, she hadn't pegged Akira to be such a boisterous person but as she herself said so, looks can be deceiving. Hence, when the raven replied to her question with an answer the blonde had already guessed or assumed previously, Asura merely nodded her head and said, "I thought as much." At her eagerness to ask her question, Asura kindly nodded at her to go ahead. Normally, the blonde would hesitate to disclose much about herself but today, underneath the moonlight that radiated upon the two females, Asura felt at peace. Something that she hadn't felt in a long while. It were as if the harsh waves had calmed down, the rough winds had become serene and the world, for a moment, stopped moving and became still; became peaceful. Maybe it was the emptiness of the city or maybe it was the presence of the figure beside her, with her quiet voice and soft persona but whatever it was, Asura appreciated the little break.

So, when Akira asked her why she joined the Rune Knights, the blonde had already expected that question. She put a strand of her hair behind her ear as she adjusted her glasses. "Well, to be honest, my reason was the same as everyone else's, really." Asura said as she got a little more comfy in her coat, "Maybe a little more personal, though, I suppose. If you want to know the whole story, that'll take a bit of time but short version is because I want, in some way, to make a world where everyone feels like they belong. There's too much evil in this world and maybe, even in ourselves, that sometimes, we don't recognize it. It'd be nice to have that go away and to just live without worrying about being shunned, about not being loved, about not belonging. I think that would be a...peaceful future to have." Memories enraptured her mind, of her youth, of her parents, of the orphanage, of places where she didn't belong and nostalgia took her over for a minute before she shook her head and looked back at the girl.

It was strange how easy it was to slip into being someone she thought she wasn't, it came down to the other person, apparently. Aki was not unkind, she believed people had ulterior motives quite often if she could sense that they hoped for something dodgy in return, so far Asura had not mentioned a single thing she expected in return for the sweater, except the company which Akira had already offered. Asura... felt like home. 'I do judge them pretty fast by what they do and how they behave though...' Akira added, as a frank and fair confession. She shrugged as she mentioned it, that too like the trait of not judging by appearance, was one of value. If she noticed a behavior pattern, she could make logical assumptions to safeguard herself from hurt, occasionally it worked the other way around, she'd see kindness and offer her own kindness to someone like that, with abandon, it was just that... unfortunately, kindness was rare.

Once they started their game and Asura mentioned that she had assumed that answer, Aki let out a soft giggle. 'Wasted your first question then...' she teased, in a soft playful singsong voice. Following which she paid close attention to Asura's response to her slightly loaded question. 'The noble sort then...' Aki whispered interjecting softly, ensuring she doesn't break the woman's flow of thought. 'And hopeful.' she added, feeling a small wave of poignancy crash on her, as she realized she may be the only one missing such optimistic goals and reasons behind her choice. She had slowly started admiring the sort of people who truly believed this, perhaps that too was because of how steadfast Tsuru had been with his beliefs, probably rubbed off on Akira.

Asura Nightshade
At Akira's glee of being the first person who had ever accepted something from Asura, the blonde couldn't help but let out a little soft smile. It was obvious; the emotions that the young raven was showcasing were her genuine emotions. Facial expressions tend to tell a lot about a person's personality and beliefs and over the years, Asura had watched and watched until she could read the little curve of the lips, the crinkle of the eyes, the scrunching of the nose and from Akira's eyes that were filled with the purest form of joy, the blonde indeed, felt like she had done the right thing.

The girl next to her stated that she does judge people by personality and Asura offered a nod in return. "And that's the way it should be," she said. It was true most people nowadays were judged by appearance. A relatively good looking man or woman by society's standards was bound to earn higher favours and options during the course of their entire life than someone who was well, not that good looking. Which was honestly sickening. It was good that Akira developed that since a young age. Asura knew that feeling all too well; her monotonous face would irk people and they'd scatter away from her. Which is why she was glad that the people she had met had given her a chance; a chance wherein now she could smile at the other girl without worrying about how it would come across.

"If you'd like to know more, I'd be happy to tell. But, for now, it's my turn." Asura winked lightly at the girl as she proceeded to think of a question. "Well, is it alright if I ask the same question? Why did you join the Rune Knights? You're rather young to be stuck with a bunch of oldies like us." Hopefully, Akira would sense the joke and reciprocate and hopefully, Akira would answer her question as well.

'I do want to know the whole story though...' Aki said, curious to know what sort of situations would propel one to make such decisions with pure intent.

The night grew cooler as they finally settled down on a bench, at Asura mentioned that she'd be willing to offer more, but it was her turn now. Aki playfully narrowed her eyes and whined. 'But no fair, that wasn't the complete answer...' but she understood the goals of the game now, the curiosity would have to be channeled into specific questions to receive just those answers, anything more or less would require another turn. She nodded, probably taking the game more seriously than it was intended. 'I'll get you...' she said smirking, which was quickly wiped off when Asura deflected the question onto her.

Akira was acutely aware of the cold bench suddenly as her mind habitually looked for ways to just change the topic, conveniently forgetting that she had given her word and would answer the question. 'Er...' Aki started, her hesitation was obvious, finally she phrased her answer as a question which betrayed her insecurity around the subject. 'I just joined because I didn't think anywhere else would accept me and turns out, even Rune Knights weren't too keen... I just thought... I have a magic, might as well as work and put it to use, that's not a bad thing is it?' she finished, her voice dwindling and not too steady. Tentatively, she asked 'Is it my turn?' and assuming that what she'd said would have to suffice for the time being as well Akira inferred the confirmation and quickly asked her next question. 'How would you have abolished slavery, if you had the chance?' she asked cocking her head, wondering the kind of means people would usually adhere to, to eradicate something that was unfair but had become so entwined with everyday life, that no one questioned it any more...

The blonde let out a little laugh when the raven joked about wasting her first question and as she answered Asura's own question, the blonde could sense that Akira's tone was almost uncertain. As if she didn't know the answer herself and closed up. That was odd. She had thought that perhaps, Akira's would be like hers and in a way, it was; to help people but there was the air of hesitance around it. When she asked if that was a bad thing, Asura quickly shook her head and said, "No, of course not. In fact, it's a great thing. If you're gifted with magic, which is not something everyone is born with me, I mean, look at me, then you should use it in whatever you can to do something. Your cause is a good one and frankly, I can see that in everything you do, even the small ones, the pure intentions. You should be proud of yourself and never second guess what your instincts tell you to do." She didn't know why she had said almost a monologue of sorts but Asura felt as though, maybe it was something that the young girl needed to hear.

They sat down on the cold bench, the blonde snuggling herself deeper into her blanket as she nodded when Akira asked her whether it was her turn next. The woman wondered what the raven would throw at her this time. They had started off with basic questions and might just remain within that territory or may delve deeper into something. Regardless, she anticipated it. But, when Akira hit her with the question, for a second, Asura was confused. She looked towards the raven and blinked, wondering where the question even came from. This was a full zero to hundred jump real fast. Asura opened her mouth but then closed it again and she did this for 2-3 times until her face scrunched up in thought. What would she do to abolish slavery? Hmm. "Well," Asura started, "first of all, that's an interesting question. And second of all, if I did have the chance to do something, I feel like I'd change it from within. No person is truly evil, they were never born evil and so I feel as though, most people can change if they're just guided to the right path. Of course, that doesn't apply to everyone. But I would probably work my way to a position where I had the power to do something about it, just try to avoid as much violence as possible. And, then abolish it, ban it, arrest those who were a part of it, punish them for what they've done and if they truly show remorse, then forgive them only after giving them what they deserve." And, the woman was a true believer of that. A person getting what they deserved.

There was a general aura of almost giddy happiness around each other. Asura made young Akira feel welcomed and liked like she was home. It was strange how the simple act of exchanging the sweater had bought such literal and figurative warmth into Akira's heart. It really wasn't like Akira was cold-hearted, she was just wary, and a little hardened by the way of the world. Having been a victim of all the judgment around her magic, Aki was still very reserved in her ways. But usually, the smallest acts of kindness so long as she could see no obvious self-serving intent behind it usually melted burned through this pseudo-ice quickly. Aki didn't try and hide her joy in some snarky smirk she wore a grin with abandon till they began exchanging questions.

Nervously, she explained her reasons for joining the Rune Knights, but from Asura's expressions, it was quickly apparent that her anxiety was for naught. Nonetheless, Akira was surprised by the reception of the answer she had offered. Her doubt slowly faded at each reassuring word that the blonde issued. Asura also revealed that she did not possess magic, it made Aki admire her more since she had followed her noble pursuit despite perhaps being at a disadvantage of sorts. Neither girls' answers were some dusted, rusted responses brewed up for the questioner to drink up. Asura explained her reasons and while they were similar to others Aki had met, Asura didn't seem to be just giving the right answer for the sake of it, not to show off and to pretend she was some kind hero. So, in turn, Akira opened up to her about her uncertainties.

'Thanks Asura...'  the girl said softly, her fingers caressing the knit fiber of, the sweater, the loops and the knots, which somehow wove so much of what the blonde girl was... and tied their new found relationship together. 'You see, unfortunately even with the Rune Knights things haven't always been smooth...' Aki added, muttering as usual. 'But I guess they'll look up now.' Despite the optimistic words, her tone was dejected. It was her hopeful hypothesis based on the fact that she had light magic now, this information had started diffusing through the ranks she knew because a lot of people's behavior had suddenly changed around her. She wasn't sure if she was imagining it, but even Tsuru, could've become just a little bit more tolerant after the addition of light. But in his defense that could also be because they'd been through a lot together, and initially, she wasn't the kindest to him...

Asura Nightshade
To think that it was because of Asura that the normally stoic girl had let out a genuine grin did a lot to warm her heart. Ever since they began their little walk outside, Akira had been receptive although, a little hesitant at first and the blonde could really see it take form now with her light chuckles and firm opinions. In a way, it felt nice. To be the reason for someone's smile and Asura had to admit in their short time knowing each other, the raven had firmly planted herself in Asura's life. Of course, it was very sudden thing; their first meeting was extremely rocky, their second meeting was filled with forgotten and hazy memories, their third one was filled with a chaotic kitchen and now this. So, to think that they beat all those awkward moments and were suddenly, in a position where they were walking under the moonlight, saying words that they've never said before, was a little odd yet, endearing. Asura finally felt like she knew what it meant to have the desire to protect someone dear to you and not to mention, the fact that Akira looks like such a small and vulnerable child certainly brings about the protectiveness in anyone.

Regardless, that question had certainly come out the blue, maybe it was due to the recent happenings with the kingdom that Akira had questioned it? So, she looked at Akira and asked, "Now, it's my turn. Where did that question come from, I'm just curious, and what are your thoughts on it?" Asura laid her chin on her hand as she stared at the other girl.

When Akira mentioned her worries of being in the Rune Knights, Asura felt irked. Not at her, but at the behaviour of the Rune Knights. With the recent turn of events, it wasn't hard to guess why they were acting as such. It was very widely known and believed that dark magic was associated with evil and this narrow minded thinking existed even within the Knights. Akira's recently attained light magic was quite obviously the reason for their change in demeanor. After all, it was the "purer" magic. Asura felt sick to her stomach and this explainable feeling of rage took over. "Hmpf." Asura remarked, "Well, clearly the Knights don't know what they're missing out on. Honestly, to treat you in such a way just because of what you have. That doesn't determine what your values are. I'm pretty sure you're stronger and can do a lot more to help people than more than half of them can." Asura was angry indeed, to treat someone in such a horrible way was unacceptable and the fact that Akira had been subjected to this for the longest time made the blonde so frustrated that she almost wanted to slap everyone who did this to her. She briefly wondered how Haru treated her, from the looks of it, they got along well and he was extremely worried when she disappeared so she was sure their relationship must be fine.

It was sort of cute the way the blonde covered herself with that blanket, her new friend giggled softly upon noticing that. Almost as a reflection, since the gesture from Asura reminded Aki of the cold, she lifted her knees to her chest and wrapped her arms around her legs for some more warmth. Then the lunar mage shot the loaded question. The moment she finished, she could tell the fellow Knight was a little blindsided by it. Aki smiled apologetically and was about to reassure and say that she need not answer and that she could just go with something simpler as Asura displayed hesitation. But luckily for Akira, who was curious about Asura's methods, her new friend began answering. Interesting was probably code for what-the-hell-kinda-question-is-this, Aki shrugged apologetically and braced herself for the response.

'You're very... optimistic.' Aki said, peering at the girl once she was done. 'I see what you mean, but yeah... There are definitely some people with... well... let's just say some have a higher tendency to give in to their darker sides than others.' She retorted, but there was nothing disrespectful about her disagreement. The fact that Aki was discussing her thoughts this openly, already meant that Asura was special, most other people would generally receive just a scoff and an eye roll. 'The problem is their ruthless instincts often land them in positions of power, I feel Arthurias played a sort of... tit for tat game.' she finished.

Aki was expecting the next question and had sort of rehearsed the response. She cleared her throat and grinned wide, Asura probably didn't recall her drunken rant with clarity and apparently didn't remember Aki coming to Arthurias's defense either. 'Er... Remember when we all got drunk together, by the way, Tsuru was super unhappy that I'd taken a few too...' she said almost reminiscing though it couldn't have been too long ago. 'We all sort of gave our two cents about the attack, and you...' she paused, smiling and shaking her head. 'and Fia, seemed quite upset with the ways of Arthurias, I was wondering how you'd have gone about it differently.' She paused, as she thought of her own standing on the subject.

Asura Nightshade
After Asura answered Akira's question, she was a little surprised by the raven's mention of her being optimistic. A light giggle left her lips as she nodded and thought about it. "I wouldn't say optimistic," Asura commented as she scrunched her face in thought, "More like realistic. I just think that people need to be given a second chance unless, of course, they're completely hopeless which is why a few, yeah, can't do anything about them." When Akira mentioned about the ruthless ones going to power and that Arthurias played a tit for tat game, the blonde couldn't help but agree. After all, it was true, given the recent turn of events that those who were ruthless and selfish made it to the top and had everyone wrapped around their finger, exploiting them, the people who trusted the nobility with their lives. Arthurias changed that in a way but were his methods right would only be answered when they would see how he would lead. "We'll just have to wait and see how that turns out."

Akira's reply to Asura's other question of why she asked it had the blonde slightly surprised. Truth be told, she didn't remember much of that night. All she remembered was that she woke up in the kitchen of all places with a pounding headache and Batras looked like he hadn't slept all night. When she asked him what happened, he just gave her a blank look and walked away. Asura hadn't thought on that much ever since then however, now that Akira mentioned that she and Fia had gotten rather rowdy, flashes of that night entered Asura's brain. She had no idea how she would act when drunk as she had never drank enough to render her in that state and the blonde scratched the back of her neck as she tightened her sweater around herself and got more comfortable on her seat.

Akira Shimada
As they strolled around, Akira wondered if such interactions were unprecedented for Asura too. Were they, each other first? The first time, the two felt at home without being anywhere near their respective families? From the little that Akira could decipher from Asura's reactions, it seemed so. The two girls were in uncharted territory and were happy with what they'd discovered. In retrospect, leaning on Asura, the very first time she'd laid her eyes on the blonde, perhaps had been indicative of such a relationship from the very beginning... The giddiness from having her magic fixed that plagued that interaction, had perhaps allowed the young dark haired girl to blossom amidst the her team, in a manner she never had before, maybe that is why, she hadn't sabotaged her chances at a friendship with Asura from the beginning... Like she usually did with most others, barring Tsuru of course, who, out of duty stuck it out with her and eventually went on to discover her less sharp sides.

'In all fairness, I have no idea... I am still working on trusting my instincts, I'm good at short term strategies, but this is a long term problem and... I tend to get hopeless with systems that are so ingrained in our society.' she said, it was a pessimistic answer, but it was the best she had. Racism, slavery and other unfair practices that were rampant, always annoyed Aki to no end and they were so ubiquitous that even the mere thought of riled Aki up, an anger which she swallowed and portrayed as cynicism. She shook herself out of it... 'Anyways... Onto lighter subjects... Its my turn and I want to know if you've seen anyone you like around here.' she asked her implication pretty clear in her expressions.

She let the tone lighten by chuckling nervously when Asura assumed she was strong. Her hand rose to the back of her head as she grinned. 'Er... I don't know how strong I am and all that... Don't think I'm too good actually...' she admitted, now staring at her own toes, feeling a little guilty that she didn't actually bother putting in an effort to hone her skills more. 'Perhaps that is a bad thing... I mean I should be working harder, it isn't enough to just have magic and to want to use it for good, if I actually want to make a difference, I should find it in myself to work harder...'  she admitted softly. Then, swiftly avoiding making this a conversation about confessions that made both the parties feel guilty and not good enough, she jovially added. 'To be fair though, you're right, a lot of the other Rune Knights seem lazier than me too...' her chuckle returned, it was seemingly omnipresent this night. She couldn't recall the last time she'd laughed this much and with such abandon. Asura's company was doing wonders.

Asura Nightshade
"Well, I'd like it if you forget that. I'm pretty sure I sprouted some nonsense, the in-the-moment type of thing. While I won't deny that I was angry, I still would like to think that what he may have worth it, I suppose." She paused for a second, thinking on her words and then also added, "And yeah, I can understand why Haru would be angry. You're underage, you shouldn't have drank in the first place, young lady."

When Akira gave her answer, Asura lightly nodded her head. It was understandable, even Asura hadn't ever thought of something like that happening so the answer was based on what she thought she could do, but it doesn't mean that it has to happen. Though, when she mentioned being hopeless with the system, Asura let out a grunt in acknowledgment, she could completely understand that. "Yeah, we need a change. A big one and who knows how long that might take."

It was strange how their conversation seemed to shift from more somber topics to those that were relatively light-hearted within the span of a few seconds; there were no awkward pauses, no shifting feeling of non-comfort, just a raw and pure sense of calmness and belonging. It worked in a weird way how two people that were so different yet, alike could manage to fit with each other like puzzle pieces. Both of them were rather on the quiet side but not afraid to show what they believe in; they were those that would avoid unnecessary meddling but at the same time, would put their life on the line to protect the innocent. But both of them were also different in the way that they approached things, in some of their mindsets. Whether that was a result of gap in their age or the way they were brought up remained an untreaded path for either of them. Regardless of that fact, Asura could sense a form of pureness in Akira that she had never seen before. Or, maybe she had. The youngling was far too mature for her age, having stumbled upon aspects of life that no sixteen year should have to witness and maybe in a way, Asura knew what it felt like to be forced to grow up before your time.

The next question surprised the older Knight as she wondered about what she should answer Akira. Does she have anyone she likes? As far as Asura knew, not really. There were of course, good looking people but the blonde was highly inexperienced in this area and so she shook her head. "Not yet. Maybe soon. I'm not too sure and I don't know if I'm looking for someone." She shrugged and turned to the other with the knowing smile. "So, what about you? Anything with Haru?" Asura had wondered this for quite a well and it seemed she would get her answer now.

Akira Shimada
It was the second time, someone had firmly stood by Akira, despite her magic. Even Tsuru had shown some reluctance, which she had taken her own sweet time to forgive. She only extended such a courtesy simply because his infraction paled in front of his loyalty, sense of duty and honor. The other person, who had portrayed a similar broad-minded attitude, was Alisa. Though she had not been so verbal in defending Akira, nor had she shown such as much disgust towards the attitude, perhaps her experience had caused her to accept such flaws in the world. Aki herself had accepted it, only... much more bitterly since she saw herself as a victim. 'Sometimes I feel that prejudice only serves to drive people towards becoming evil...' Akira muttered, giving Asura a slight insight into the struggle she had faced. It was a choice Aki had to make consciously... Her attitude was barbed, her demeanor prickly and appearance foreboding, since she surrendered to literally wearing the assumptions people made about her just to keep them at bay and avoid interactions. Despite all that, she had never deliberately acted out in malice against anyone, but it had taken much effort.

As Asura went on to explain her optimism, Aki echoed her giggle, the two girls shared a very different kind of realism, one was tainted with hope, one with hopelessness, perhaps they'd compliment each other well... It would make for a more wholesome team if nothing else. The dark-haired girl sighed when the conversation turned to their new king... It was a touchy subject for most, at least the two girls could talk about him without the moment becoming tense, without it causing friction and heated arguments. Aki giggling intensified as she thought of the night they'd all gotten drunk, her memories of it were perhaps a little clearer than Fia's or Asura's. 'I don't think I wanna... It was kinda hilarious...' Her laughter morphed into a guilty expression when Asura sided with Tsuru and accused her of drinking while being underage. Had it been anyone but the healer or the blonde, Aki would've snapped and asked them to mind their own business. But she could tell the chastising from these two, came from a place of concern and it made Aki feel... cared for. 'Well... I was curious...' she admitted. For the sake of protecting Asura from guilt, she didn't mention that she and Fia had both provided refills for her glass.

Asura Nightshade
The response she received from Akira was slightly jarring in the sense that the younger one openly claimed that the discrimination that existed in their rampant world was what was most likely, one of the leading reasons why we even had evil in the first place. And, while, that was a fact that Asura had come to accept and acknowledge long ago, the fact that Akira commented on it and even gave the implication that she could have swerved that way made a heavy feeling rise in the blonde's heart. What that feeling was, she didn't know; it was a mixture of relief, realization and helplessness. Relief that the raven chose not to go to the wrong side even though everything around her compelled her to, realization at the fact that those who were involved in Arthurias' plan all possibly hailed from those circumstances and helplessness at the wake of the feeling of not being able to do anything to stop this. It was a rough patch, an odd spiral of feelings yet, the blonde couldn't help the light smile that laced her lips, aimed towards the other female, with her eyes crinkling behind her glasses, in a form of pride that Asura never thought she could feel. "Well," she said, keeping a hand on Akira's, "I'm just glad you stuck around. It must have been hard but I hope that it was worth it. Fate may have treated you badly before but I'm sure there are great things in store for you in the future. Just don't ever let what they say dictate who you are."

Akira's slight hesitance and shyness when declaring that she was probably not as strong as Asura assumed certainly made a chuckle release itself from the blonde's lips. It was cute how she doubted herself when both of them knew that the raven's strength was superior to at least, half of the Rune Knights who commented on her behind her back. There was no shame in admitting as such and Asura would even proudly claim that Akira may be even more stronger than the blonde herself if the aura that she gave out and her performance during the war was any indicator. However, she kept that comment to herself and lightly shook her head at the raven's insistence of not being that strong. "Nonsense, I haven't fully seen what you're capable of but I'm pretty sure you're better than most Knights. Strong is a subjective word so I can't claim for sure though what I am sure of is your potential to do great things in the future and the fact that you're trying to work hard for is an example of that." It felt odd giving someone confidence and appreciating them for their strengths; a sight that Asura had never subjected herself to due to the fact that she would just avoid any and everything. Her hesitance of what lies in the unknown kept her from experiencing a lot of things but after the war, it felt like something had changed. As if the realization that there may not be a tomorrow attached itself to her very core and so, if anything, she wanted to make sure that tonight would hopefully, end with Akira just a little bit more confident and with Asura having a companion to confide in especially, seeing how they both didn't hesitate to point out how unruly the Knights could really be as Asura let out a light laugh at Akira's claim of them being lazy.

At the other's declaration of not wanting to forget the drunken night, the blonde let a pout envelop her lips as she looked at the raven in a mix of embarrassment and glee. She shrugged, bumping shoulders with the younger girl and said, "Fine if you don't want to forget but don't hold me for anything I said that night even though, I hear they say your true feelings come out when you're drunk...." The blonde pondered on what her true feelings regarding the new emperor were but it wasn't a topic she was rather comfortable with speaking about seeing as she herself didn't know what to feel so she shrugged. "But yeah, just leave the me-insulting-the-emperor part out, please." She lightly pouted at the younger hoping to illicit some type of response and when Akira claimed to have been curious about alcohol, even though Asura wanted to give her a pointed look, she instead gave her a cheeky one. "Well, I suppose it's fine once in a while." She said, shrugging non-chalantly, "Just make sure to only take enough to sate your curiosity because alcohol can be a very dangerous thing. Also, I recommend wine for future tries, much more classy and suitable for us who don't want to get a little too tipsy."

Akira Shimada
'Yep... Change is tough.' Aki said thoughtfully. As her gaze turned skyward. The stars, little pinpricks of light... none too grand, but together, creating a subtly beautiful show. 'It needs people to agree with each other and work together to make a difference, that's often impossible...' she muttered before taking her turn to ask her question, her answer surprised Akira. 'You don't have to be looking to find someone...' the sixteen-year-old said teasingly. 'You're pretty... I'm sure someone has been hoping you were looking... for them.' she added, her eyes tracing the pretty features of her new friend. But before she could tease anymore and perhaps even start talking of prospective people, she was slapped with a counter question that made her blank, she'd avoided it for a bit, but then finally, after a short pause, she decided to respond as well as she could.

'With er.. Tsuru?' she stammered, her cheek pinked up, hopefully the moonlit night wasn't enough to give that away. 'Er... I don't know what you mean... we're... just... teammates.' she said, taking tall pauses as though she had to put in effort to frame her answer. 'Before we all were made into a team, it was just me and Haru, so we spent a lot of time together...' she said, not sure what she was explaining and why. She drew in a long breath, before deciding it was time to poke Asura back with question, just to avoid confronting the feelings she had for Tsuru, whatever they were... 'If you were looking, what would you want in your partner?' she asked, hoping for a quick save, then drawing another shaky breath she let out a peal of laughter, that rang like a bell in the garden. 'Oh sorry, its just... I don't talk about things like this to people very often...'

~~~
The girls would continue sharing laughs and exchanging answers, as honestly and frankly as they could, till the cool air and the night's veil would finally coax them back into the inn... Chirping and whispering till the very end, Aki ended going over to Asura's room, to extend their time together for as long as they could... Finally, their conversation would fade to soft sleepy mumbles and lazy chortles... The tiny Akira would gladly pass out on the couch, curled up into a happy ball and sleep as well as she did when she was at home with her family.
Asura Nightshade
The blonde listened to the girl sitting beside her as she commented on how difficult change can be, only nodding in reply. Indeed, Akira was far more wise than Asura had initially predicted but it was that trait of hers that made their conversation far more interesting.
When Akira said that Asura was pretty, the blonde couldn't help but become a slight shade of red. She was never good with compliments, after all. "Oh stop it, you. I'm pretty sure no one's been looking for me. If they are, well, sad luck for them because they're in for a very boring and bland relationship." She merely shrugged after that, not too keen on dwelling on it. Akira's flustered nature at her answer of what she and Haru were made a cheeky grin escape the blonde. It was clear there were feelings involved but it was also clear that Akira herself didn't know what they were and so, Asura decided to poke this topic another time again. Maybe she could ask Haru what he thought of Akira as well. She'd have to keep that in mind.
"Hmm," Asura said as she pondered over Akira's next question, "What would I want in my partner?" It was a rather, difficult question to answer. Because, after all, there would never be someone who would be able to meet all of Asura's criteria, that was a part of being a human, filled with flaws and imperfections but if there was one thing that Asura wanted, it was this. "I guess I want someone who would want to love me for me and not try to change my flaws in any way. I think that's the purest form of love." She wondered whether she should ask Akira the same but then, wondered whether the latter was too young for this questioning. Then again, she did ask her about her romantic alliance with Haru so maybe she had crossed that line already.
The two kept on talking for a while more, asking questions back and forth, until sleep decided to creep up on them which urged them to return back to the inn. It was well after three in the morning when they returned and the two giggled their way to Asura's room where they talked some more in the early hours of the morning until, finally, they lulled into a peaceful sleep. For the first time in a while, Asura slept with a smile on her face. For the first time in a while, she felt like she had spent a day fulfilled and it was all because of the blossoming place that Akira took in her life.
