So tell the gun to sin Like an angel with the dirty wings Tainted by tastes of the soul This is another level Deep in | The sound of idle chatter and the commotion of busy bodies making their way through the streets of crocus engulfed her sense of hearing as the blonde clutched within her hand the letter that she had received that very morning. It's content stated the urgency of her arrival and the need for the client to meet with the Knight. What had turned out to be surprising was the fact that her client happened to be no one other than the famous and well-respected sorceress Merlin whom she had helped last time with Phoebe. It appeared that she needed he help again. It took her about twenty or so minutes to arrive at her destination which happened to be Lady Merlin's study. She strode up the familiar staircase and ended up before the wooden door that was there a few days ago as well. Just as she was about to knock, the door swung open as the presence of mana lingered in the surroundings and on the door knob. "Come in", the words came from behind the half opened door, causing her to open it further and walk inside, only to see the back of a familiar raven-haired woman who turned to greet her with a smile. Through the smile, the knight noticed the look of concern she had tried to hide. "I'm glad you could come and my apologies for the short notice. Ms.Queen, I require your assistance." After simply stating those words, she began to tell the blonde haired mage her concerns regarding the delivery of the item that was set to arrive in a few hours. Merlin was afraid that they transporters of her item may damage the asset upon pr during delivery. The blonde wondered about the item that seemed to be so precious to the famous mage but didn't question any further after she was given the order to escort the caravan that was hired to transport the item as they were not very well known for the delicacy with which which they handled fragile goods. There was a high possibility that the well awaited magical item may be damaged. If the item was as valuable and precious as the blonde Knight imagined it to be, then she could definitely see why the sorceress wanted someone, especially a mage to escort it. Without uttering another word, she simply nodded as Merlin smiled before setting out on a rather long walk to arrive at the gate of Crocus, through which travellers and merchants enter or leave the town. Lilac eyes skimmed through the people that walked in, some wearing backpacks and glancing at the town entrance in fascination while others simply either walked in or out. It was then that her eyes landed upon a small caravan being moved around by a bunch of men that gathered around it like it was an entourage. Assuming from the way they pushed the small wooden caravan, she knew that the rumors Lady Merlin had heard was probably true so she didn't really mind putting a stop to such roughness. |

So tell the gun to sin Like an angel with the dirty wings Tainted by tastes of the soul This is another level Deep in | Walking up to them, the blonde looked at the three tall men who were all heavily built, covered in dirt as their clothes had perhaps become stained during their journey. They looked at her with a tired, questioning gaze which she returned with her own stoic one. "My name is Xandra Queen. I'm a Rune Knight. I've been told by Lady Merlin to escort you throughout your journey in the town." The men looked towards the side, at one another before staring back at her and attempting to say something but she raised a hand and stopped them, "I don't really think you're in a position to be objecting." Glancing at the caravan, she watched as they followed her line of sight towards the secret item hidden inside, "It doesn't seem like you're handling it with care. That's an important item. I can't have you damaging it. So if you have no problem with it, let's get going." She stared at them with a raised eyebrow as they sighed before following her. The knight was ordered to sway away from any routes that may potentially harm the item inside. Her curiosity increased but she had to perform her task first, only then could she actually see what was inside the caravan. As they walked, the blonde ensured that they moved at a steady pace so that the speedy way with which the men walked would not harm the asset inside. It was then that she heard a groan behind her. "Ugh, this is taking way too much time. We have other things to do too." She halted her steps before turning back. Her monotonous expression emphasized her glaring gaze that looked at this, "This is to preserve the quality of the object. We will be done much faster if you silently follow instead of complaining." That had seemed to done the job as the man shut his mouth. Others, taking the hint, did not attempt to complain either. The heavy sounds of the populated areas grew closer until they were not far away from the main streets. The main streets of Crocus were quite well known for being crowded, as people pushed their way past one another in a hurried manner. It was no surprise that many people suffered minor injuries from just walking around. Not to mention the pickpocketing thieves. It was quite easy for someone to steal the item that Lady Merlin wished to protect. A part of her duty was to take different routes and use whatever means necessary to ensure the safety of the object. Her steps halted as she looked towards the road at the right, which diverted away from the path towards the main street. "Alright, we'll be taking this route." It seemed as her previous words were still valid as the men did not dare to speak up again after that and simply followed her as she guided the caravan down the path which had lesser people but was much longer than she had anticipated. As she walked, she realized that they had taken twice the time that would be needed if they used the main road but regardless, her job was more important. The safety of Merlin's object was more important than the time taken. |

So tell the gun to sin Like an angel with the dirty wings Tainted by tastes of the soul This is another level Deep in | It took them some time but they finally arrived towards the construction site that laid just ahead of the main streets. They walked in silent which was more often than not interrupted by the glares of the men that walked behind her carrying the caravan. Occasionally, she heard panting and couldn't help but sigh as she realized that she was perhaps a bit too harsh on them. Once again, she halted her steps. "We should take some rest for a while." Looking at the men who stared back at her as if in disbelief, "Well, you all look like you drop dead any second." It seemed as if they were just surprised that she was concerned about them as they started releasing a bunch of sarcastic comments to which she simply threw a glare. That caused them to shut up as they put the caravan down and sat themselves down on the grassy ground, panting and heaving heavy sighs. Heaving a sigh herself, she walked away from the men, noticing that their gaze followed her as she walked into the nearest shop and purchased some water and juice for the men. as she returned, she tossed it to each of them, which they catched surprisingly. They looked at her with awe, possibly moved by her gesture but she knew she had to set things straight. Noticing their gaze, she simply said, "What?", in her low, monotonous voice, "I can't have you tired and sloppy while carrying that. What if it falls and breaks?" Ah, that explained it to them as their expression yet again became uninterested while they chugged on the drinks they had received. It was true, she did do it so that the object would more or less be secure. Another reason was that she didn't want to make them so so much labor without any rest, that would just be cruel but a tiny part of her also felt annoyed at their constant groaning so she hoped that this would shut them up. They rested for about thirty minutes as she kept an eye on them. Once it seemed as if they had rejuvenated their energy, she once again ordered to continue the journey. They picked up the caravan and the four individuals set out again, closing in on the area where the construction work was going on. The blonde was aware of the construction work but didn't exactly know what it was that they were fixing. She looked around noticing a man wearing a helmet. Telling the men to wait there, she strode over towards the man wearing the helmet, whom she presumed to be one of the workers working at the construction site. He informed her that the roads ahead were being repaired, not only because they were previously damaged but also because the war that took place had damaged them even further. Not only would taking that route be stupid but dangerous too. She sauntered back towards the men, "It seemed as if there's construction going on. Taking the road ahead would be dangerous." |

So tell the gun to sin Like an angel with the dirty wings Tainted by tastes of the soul This is another level Deep in | She placed a hand on her chin as she fell into thought. What could they do to ensure the safety of the item, "Alright, we'll be taking the route through the alleyway." Another groan was heard which was again shut with one glare but she knew that more would come. As they walked through the narrow paths of the alleyway, they had to take occasional twists and turns to get through the pathway which again earned a murmur of colourful words from the men. "Instead of complaining to yourself, use that energy to move a little faster. You wanted to get done with the work faster, am I right?" She was quite aware that she was coming off as someone rather ignorant but never had she cared about the opinions of others so why start now? Instead, she walked over to those men and helped them lift the caravan. That was the least she could do and of course, she had more than enough strength to do so. They began walking again after the had kept their mouth shut. She no longer heard them murmur unnecessary words or comments. Instead, every time they wanted to complain, they simply looked at her and she could feel their gaze on her. The twists and turns that were exhausting soon came to a subtle end, fading away into wider streets that were mostly straight. It seemed as if they were reaching the end of this part. The blonde herself had managed to explore more parts of Crocus that she knew. It was always jobs like this that she managed to explore towns. The adventurous side of her which quite loved the idea of moving around town and just observing was rather happy but the journey itself was starting to get exhausting. It was better that they got done with it fast and fortunate for them was the fact that despite her bad sense of direction, she could tell that they were not too far away from Lady Merlin's study. She had been lost in these parts of the town too many times to not know this much by now. It was just a little further, that's all they had to go. She did feel slightly guilty towards the men but with a sigh, she reassured them that they only had to walk a little further. It appeared that they weren't too satisfied with that as she could feel their threatening gaze pierce through the back of her head. Alas, there was no way she could please these grump men. Perhaps she shouldn't feel sorry for them. After all, she was only trying to help them do their job better.Instead, perhaps they deserved this after all. It's their job to take care of the goods they transport. If they don't do their jobs properly, they shouldn't be paid the money that they are paid. She recalled Lady Merlin telling her that the payment was already made and such a heavy payment requires a bit of labour. They should at least live up to what is expected of them. |

So tell the gun to sin Like an angel with the dirty wings Tainted by tastes of the soul This is another level Deep in | "Hey, Stop Right there. You are under arrest.!" The sound of the yelling and hurried footsteps bombarded the vicinity. If the blonde Knight had to take a guess, she'd say it was perhaps another Rune Knight employed in this area who was chasing a robber or a thief. Not many murders occur within this town, possibly due to the current abundance of mages so she didn't find the reason to worry too much. A rune knight would be more than capable of handling the task themselves. She looked at the men, knowing that a criminal chase may perhaps damage the object if not completely destroy it. It was best for them to take yet another detour so that's what she decided to do. It was their best option. The Knight diverted the carriage away from the commotion of gasps and chasing footsteps until they faded into nothingness. What seemed to be a short while left turned into much longer than she had hoped as they walked and walked. It was expected for these short tempered men to reach their end limit really soon and that's exactly what happened. One of them yelled enough. This halted the steps of others and herself as the blonde simply sighed before turning back to face him, "What now?" "You've been treating us like dogs. We've taken so many different routes just to ensure that your delivery item is safe. We've been doing this job for years, we know how to do it. Whatever it is that you have, we won't break it. We didn't have to take so many routes." He put the caravan down before kicking it. "If only it wasn't for that stupid damned chaos you mages rose up. The city would be in perfect condition and we wouldn't have to take so many routes." The female simply heard him and let him finish, obviously throwing a hardened glare at him when he kicked it. Once he was done, she simply sighed. Instead of getting angry, she approached him in an eerily calm manner, "You've been doing the job for years, you say? Then of course you should know how preserve it's quality during the time of delivery. If you know so much, you should also know that when a high tier mage like Lady Merlin asks you to deliver something, it's going to be something important and precious that can't get into the wrong hands. You should know that with such an item, walking through crowded streets could be dangerous because it might get stolen. Not only that, but you people, the delivery men may also get injured." "If it's such an important object, you should know that damaging it could backfire on you. What if it's something dangerous? What if it getting damaged opens a seal or something? In that case, of you die, you wouldn't blame the client right? Because you knew exactly what you were doing." Her words seem to have silenced them but she was far from done at that time. |

So tell the gun to sin Like an angel with the dirty wings Tainted by tastes of the soul This is another level Deep in | "You say you know how to handle objects with care, then tell me, have you ever delivered an object unharmed?" Their silence proved to be the answer to her question but instead of just that, they seemed afraid as well because of the words she had previously stated. "You mages and your magic." He walked towards the caravan and opened it, pulling out small glass orb and handed it to her. "You take care of it yourself. We don't want to lose our lives. This is as far as we're going." Ah, it did appear as if she scared them a little too much. Was she too harsh on them? Perhaps. Did she need to say all of that? Probably not but before she could force them to stay, they lifted the caravan and began making their way away from her. Sighing, she realized that she was perhaps a few meters only away from Lady Merlin's study. It would hardly make a difference whether they delivered the object here or there so without being too bothered about it, she turned around and headed towards the study where she was to hand over the glass orb to lady merlin. It was far from what she had expected the item to be. Alas, it could still be powerful but it looked so small and harmless. Nevertheless, she knew not to judge a book by it's cover. Her curiosity had been satisfied. As the blonde knight sauntered through the streets, she stared at the small glass orb more than the street, moving more or less on instinct every time she almost collided into someone. The more she looked at it, the less dangerous it seemed. This did make her feel a little guilty for the harsh words she said to those men. It wasn't their fault. However, she also knew that it was not an excuse for them to slack on their work. Even though they didn't deal with precious items that often, they shouldn't handle the goods so recklessly. Shaking her thoughts away, she arrived at Lady Merlin's study, striding over the staircase and through the door where she greeted the sorceress who looked at her with a questioning gaze, wondering why she had come without the delivery men. Once again, she let out a sigh before explaining the situation to her. The knight was quite used to giving detailed reports so she told the mage everything from the beginning of their encounter to the long route and the break. She also told her of the construction route and the police chase to which Lady Merlin was quite happy, knowing that the blonde had done her job. She then proceeded to tell her about the men suddenly abandoning the job and she seemed to understand. The sorceress didn't get too angry but rather showcased disappointment at the caravan delivery men. Nonetheless, she didn't forget to express her gratitude as she thanked the blonde knight and proceeded to hand her the promised reward along with some extra jewels which Xandra accepted with reluctance. It was a long journey indeed and the blonde found herself quite exhausted. A treat would perhaps help her at that point. |
