She couldn’t remember a time where she really had to fight, where she used her magic enough to even leave her exhausted. It was a little known fact that Ianthe was not in fact a fighter. She used many other skills to survive this long but a fight? That wasn’t one of them, violence wasn’t her forte and if she were being completely honest with herself it probably will never be. If she could talk herself out of the situation she was in at the moment she would, but that was clearly not a option. She heard Caius speak or at least she thought she did, she couldn’t understand a lick of what he had said. She knew that it was being said to the three that came and ruined her day. Ianthe didn’t have that language learned and she probably would never be able to learn it unless Caius was willingly to teach her. Her violet orbs bore into the demon, she was thankful that the area they were in was mostly open space with a few trees scattered about until of course they reached the forest. Ianthe had resorted to hit and run tactics, using the environment as a form of stalling the beast that she knew she couldn’t very well outrun. Hope was a word she was using a lot as of late, and she hoped that she would survive this fight in order to live another day. If she did manage to survive Ianthe made a mental promise to herself to start taking her well being a little more seriously, and start training to gain more spells and the like. Up until now her time in Red Hades was nothing but partying and being as high as a kite. She hardly ever had to do dirty work, but she was sure that after this more danger was likely to come her way.
Another tree creaked and cracked as the Great Sword wielding demon used his weapon to once again try to decimate the petite woman. The groan of the wood as the sword nearly cut it down in one swing caused her stomach to twist up. She couldn’t use another offensive spell in her arsenal so soon, she needed more time and running was the only way she was going to get it. Ianthe couldn’t even pay attention to Caius who was no doubt having an easier time with this than she was. Wishing she had wings, she would probably switched places and took on the smaller demons. The large Great Sword wielding demon tried pulling his sword from the tree, taking a moment too long to do so. He must have been trying to kill her in one blow was the only thought that ran through her head as she quickly took off running once she realized his struggle. She didn’t dare look behind her once she heard the terrible war cry coming from the demon, and it only took her ducking behind another tree to realize she was pulling the damn thing farther away from the rift, farther away from it’s partners, and most importantly farther away from Caius. This was good as now if they going got tough for one side or the other they wouldn’t be able to help each other out. It was clear the beast was annoyed and now slashing his way through anything in order to get to her. She wasn’t going to let him get close enough to her but she was going to make sure he was busy until Caius could come help her out. Picking up some rocks as she continued to run circles around the demon, Ianthe began throwing them one by one at him, at his face hoping to catch him in the eye. His size made him slow, the obstacles she ran behind hindered him, and a well placed rock thrown at his face which hit him in his eye bought her even more time. The demon did not appreciate this one bit, in fact he was furious and another gut wrenching yell caused her heart to skip a beat. Since the start of all this she had made it a point to keep the five meter distance between the two that she managed to keep up, but all of that was crumbling down as the demon closed the distance almost immediately.
She was played. He had been toying with her this whole time but she was too stupid to see that. A lack of combat experience was to blame on her end, and she couldn’t complain too much about that. With him so close he swung his blade straight at her belly it was only by luck that he was a few inches off, but still manage to leave a gash big enough for her to start bleeding, but not big enough for her guts to fall out. The sword broke a considerable amount of skin and the cut looked like it sliced from one side of her stomach to the next. The attack caught her off guard of course and as she fell to the ground she bit her lip to suppress the moan that was threatening to break through. Ianthe was thankful that the medicine was still working, she was worried that this modified batch her ringmaster created wouldn’t be as good but it was still in her system. Taking deep breaths she feigned pain, her violet orbs staring up at a smirking demon who licked the blood off of his blade. Even though the cut didn’t hurt she knew she couldn’t keep bleeding out like this. Frowning at the predicament she found herself in her ears perked up as she heard a grunted “ RUN “ from the beastly demon. He was getting excited, he wanted more of the hunt out of her. Standing up she flinched before running towards the river. If he was going to give her opportunities she was going to use them, and her first order of business was to clear and dress this fucking cut or risk bleeding out, or worse it getting infected. She could feel her mana draining as she maintained the upkeep on the demon, he was going to regret keeping her alive.
