RI BRIGHTE Reaching Era wasn’t the hard part for the electrical mage. Exploring it, on the other hand, posed a far greater obstacle than he had imagined. Ever since he arrived, from the entrance onwards, the streets would only get more and more convoluted, and even if to others they seemed to be easy to traverse, not seeing a city for more than two years can mess with someone’s perception of it. Not to mention the fact that reading a map was completely out of the question. Only at the half-way mark, did Ri realize that he had forgotten his glasses back in the inn, and before he can find a new pair, he is effectively unable to read anything: including maps and books. That wasn’t to say he didn’t try, though. But as soon as he laid eyes on a piece of paper that had the writing smaller than his thumb, he was unable to discern anything from it. Maybe he should go see a medic of sorts. This can’t be healthy. With that said, he continued to walk around the city, hands pocketed, and eyes always looking over the signs- while they were at a distance that is. He cursed his bad luck when one of the street signs was written in a smaller font, unable to be seen from a distance- and for him- unable to be seen closely as well. Said streak of bad luck seemed to disappear when he stumbled into something. He looked down, and he saw that the “thing” he had stumbled into was actually a child, who looked towards him with big, cute and innocent eyes. “May I help you, mister?” He asked, and Ri couldn’t help but blink. He quickly nodded a few times, motioning to his surroundings, afterwards, “Do you know where I can find an inn? Or a tavern?” As he spoke, he bent down slightly, a smile spread on his face, warm and welcoming. The child looked around, eyes narrowed, almost as if making sure no one would hear them. Then, he leaned towards Ri, and brought a hand to the side of his mouth, so as to whisper to the mage, “I’ll do it. For a few jewels.” Clearly, the mage thought no bad can come out of that. Clearly, the mage was wrong. When he had nodded and accepted what seemed like a fair trade, and he took out his wallet, he quickly found it snatched from his hand, and present in the child’s. He blinked, and for the next couple of seconds they just stared at eachother, before the kid broke into a sprint, the opposite way. “Oi! Oi!” Ri yelled, running after him, “Come back here! That’s my lunch money! Oi!” And just like that, he found himself in an all out sprinting match with a kid half his size, through the streets of Era. |

RI BRIGHTE You’d think that because of Ri’s considerably larger height that catching a small child would be a piece of cake. You’d be wrong. Unlike Ri, who was struggling to push his way through the crowd, apologizing to every person he pushed out of the way, the kid had no trouble ducking under legs and sliding between people. At one point, he had his arm reach out for the child, only for it grasp the bag of a random lady, who then quickly gave him two slaps upside the head. She would have assaulted him more, would she have caught him in his mad sprint for the kid. “Come back here!” He suddenly yelled, done with the whole chase- And because he was starting to become more and more tired. Seems the kid had more experience in stealing than he did. Who would’ve thought? In their mad run, the both of them had passed a darker alley, which Ri spared a glance to. Seeing nothing, he quickly returned his attention to the matter at hand, ever approaching, but never reaching. At this point, it actually surprised him that no one reacted, but it might just be that either they didn’t hear it, or they didn’t care. Might be a bit of both actually. Just when he was so close to giving up hope and letting the kid get away with his money- Not because he was giving up, but more-so because his side began to hurt from the strain- The kid slid to a halt, hitting the legs of a man much larger than him. That was a rare sight. Usually, he was the tallest of the group, but today it seemed he met his match. The moment the child stopped, Ri seized this opportunity and quickly reached for the scruff of his neck, lifting him up by his clothes. “Aha! You- You thought you’d escape, huh?” He tried to appear intimidating, he really did. But through the huffs and puffs that escaped him, only desparation could be seen. With a final huff, he reached for the kid’s hands and snatched back his wallet, before placing him down. “You have anything to say for yourself?” He asked, arms crossed and eyes set on him. Before he could answer though, he lifted his gaze to the cloaked figure and gave him a small wave of his hand and a large, friendly smile, “Hey, thanks for the help.” |

RI BRIGHTE Ri watched the child quickly scurry away the moment he was let go of, probably off to nick some other people's wallets. Damn luck. This is the last time he trusts little kids in big cities. Fool him once, shame on you, fool him twice, shame on you, fool him thrice... Either way. He sighed, as he thought over his next course of action, but was interrupted by the mysterious man's words. He turned to him, smile present on his face and listened to him speak, only giving a sheepish nod in return. "Yeah, I'm kind of new around Era. I've been here before about...One time. In the past years, that is. Don't really remember the city layout is all." He shrugged. The fact that the Rune Knights- Quite literally the ones who were meant to protect this city- were not doing their job kind of saddened the mage, but he already knew that life wasn't fair and you can't get everything you want in it. Including a fair justice system. Then again, the system isn't fair for all, but that's a topic he'll have to get into on another day, because now he's talking to someone who's starting to- Wait, why is he unbuttoning his shirt? Is this one of those weird guys he keeps hearing about? Oh. Alright. He's not taking his clothes off. Alright! Cool! Thank the heavens he avoided that situation. He watched as the man described the way he kept himself safe, and his eyes set on his gauntlet, watching it with great curiosity. "Looks expensive." He commented, before hearing what else he had to say. Alright, he'll take the turning into gold into consideration. Hopefully that won't turn out to be a threat. Once he had introduced himself, Ri gave a grin, and a nod, "I'm Ri Brighte. Pleasure meeting you. And- Yeah. Thanks again for the help. You didn't really have to, but I'm glad you were here. Those were my last jewels." He paused for a few seconds, and looked around, before continuing. "So, uh, do you live here, or are just passing like me?" |

RI BRIGHTE The mage watched the hooded man gaze upon him, possibly with some interest. He couldn't say he didn't feel awkward, standing in front of him, mute. Thankfully, he spoke in the end, and Ri couldn't be happier to keep his friendly attitude as he did. Unfortunately for him, the subject at hand wasn't as positive as expected, and in turn, his smile dropped for a neutral, maybe understanding expression. "Oh. I'm sorry to hear that." He spoke, with a light nod. The moment the man turned, Ri blinked. He wasn't expecting his conversation with the man who had just saved his money to end so soon. Hell, he might have even taken him out for a drink to celebrate. But, he did suppose that suddenly going out with someone you just met might be a bit weird, so he does understand his wish to leave. He returned the goodbye, with a smile, "Yeah, it was nice. I hope we meet again as well." His other comment gave him pause. Did this man know him, already? Have they met before and Ri just didn't remember? Or, maybe...He was a stalker. That would explain some things, but he wouldn't think that a stalker would just come out of their hidey-hole to speak with him. Even so, Ri kept his hope in the world, and that he wouldn't have any secret admirers that would kill for him. As the man disappeared in the crowd, Ri cursed his luck for not grabbing his attention sooner. With a sigh, he looked towards his wallet and shook his head. This day was getting weirder and weirder. That said, he still has to find his way around the city. Damn it. -Exit- |
