Looks like we’re ready to set off… A slow sigh escaping the lips of Sofia Serena as she closed the saddle bag of the beautiful beast upon which she had arrived in the village and yawned a little, despite how charming this little settlement was the sapphire siren would soon be pleased to be back in the sky and heading toward her home, and not least because she was rather looking forward to a nice nap in a comfortable bed or more accurately the luscious lady she expected to find within it when she finally arrived back in Hargeon.
Though, I can’t help but feel bad, taking this much from a village this small… There still one thing that was bothering her however and that the items that she had just stowed in her saddle, even though mages were used to getting rather sizeable rewards for their work and this vision from Valerica no exception to that given the things she had been up to in the couple of years now she had been working as one, it still made her feel awkward to take something handsome from people who seemed to have so little. Unfortunately though, all too soon she would have little chance to worry over such seemingly small matters.

“KYAAAAAAAAA!!!”

“Damn demon!”

“Get the hell away from here, you monster!”

What’s going on? Not given all that much time contemplate their comparative prosperity before she found her attention being drawn toward a bunch of murmurs and shouts occurring none too far away from her, it was no overstatement to say that it seemed that the whole village was gathering around something, and even though there was plenty of reason for Miss Serena to ignore this her sense of curiosity and perhaps a healthy dose of dread as well denied her the opportunity to do so.
Oh no… Another?! Moving to where the crowd had gathered and suddenly seeing something that made the hairs on her neck stand on end, the sapphire siren felt her pulse quicken as she saw another furred and fanged figure standing on the opposite side of the group, and found herself wondering if she would have another fight on her hands so soon after the last…

“Damn thing, I bet it’s here for revenge!”

“Yeah, it’s gonna kill us all!”

“G-Get away beast!”

Damn, they’re pretty worked up… The words of the people around her really rather heated as Sofia stood there looking toward something that would frighten even her, the mocha mermaid tried to swallow down a lump in her throat as she watched them call out to the furred figure that had shown up, and could understand their feelings for the most part. However, something seemed to bother her.
I can’t blame them but… Not given any conventional reason why the scene before her made her feel uneasy aside from the obvious impact of a wild werewolf entering into town, despite the danger that this figure presented the people that had gathered once she saw a stone sailing through the air and clattering against the chest of the beast that had visited them the vixen couldn’t help but feel a little sympathy, even if she knew she should have known better. And it seemed she wasn’t the only one.

“W-Waaaaait! WAIT!”

The old guy? A slightly shrill voice seeming to pierce through the air and the words and weapons that filled them, even with desperation so very heavily laden in his language Miss Serena found a sense of familiarity as she heard Cameron crying out, and even before she had turned around to see him romping up toward the rowdy gathering she knew who was approaching them without even having to look. Honestly a little bit impressed when she did however, even with his body wrapped in bandages and some of them seeming to show a worrying sense of redness the man lurched forward on wobbly steps, and looked determined as ever when he inserted himself into the scene.

Seems pretty frantic… Clearly not the calmest of fellows of course but that only making him like the folk that surrounded him, once the crowd had parted enough to let their leader through them the man made no attempt to break his stride at all, or at least not until he had reached a spot that placed him between the group and the fearsome fiend they had been staring down. Certainly ballsy, especially when one considered the fact that he would turn around and offer the beast the chance to swipe at his back with little issue, Sofia could only watch on with a sense of worry in her heart and maybe just a little bit of mana rushing to her fingertips as well…

“He’s not our enemy… Stop!
Don’t hurt him!”

“You have my thanks, Chief Cameron…
Your leader is right, I seek to do no harm here…”

The peace that was provided by the man in charge something that the furred fiend could exploit and also appreciate, since Miss Serena had been expecting the wolf-man to howl or snarl or do something other than speak in a fashion that seemed clear and slow she was surprised to find him seeming so similar to the monster last night, and yet at the same time also so different.
This one sounds… Calmer? That kind of primal fury that the mauling monster that the mocha mistress had battled the night before seeming like it was entirely absent in the voice and behaviour of the new creature that had appeared before her, even though this fellow looked like he could be even more ferocious if given the chance he definitely seemed more measured and controlled than the one that she had battled, and for one reason or another that seemed to put her a little more at ease looking at him. Well, she assumed that it was a ‘him’, at least.

“Unfortunately, I cannot say the same of my brethren,
which is why I have arrived with a warning, out of respect for the peace that exists between our people?”

Offering the beast a chance to air its voice even if she did not let her guard down, despite her earlier experience with a werewolf and the savagery with which they were capable Sofia could vaguely recall rumours about some of these beasty folk managing to resist their animal impulses, and also placed some faith in the assurance of their leader as well. Hoping that this strange figure would make the most of its chance to talk and it seeming to try to, even though some among the crowd were quiet and showed at least a little patience and respect, not everyone among the number did so and that was somewhat disheartening.

“L-Liar! I bet he’s trying to trick us!”

“Yeah, the second we drop our guard he’s gonna kill us all!”

“If he’s half as strong as the one I fought last night, and wanted you dead, he’d have killed you already…” Some among the number that had come to see the spectacle not capable of containing their anger or their fear, or perhaps both of them, even though Miss Serena tried to remain impartial to the situation because of the fact that she was essentially an outsider to both of their perspectives she couldn’t help but speak up to try and quiet them, and seemed to have some success in that endeavour.

“Perhaps you would do well to listen to what he has to say, while you have the chance?” At the very least the loudest of the souls around her seeming to stifle themselves to take a role in disgruntled mumbling rather than outright vocal defiance, once the shouting had settled back into a relatively meek murmur the ‘manimal’ was offered another chance to speak, and also gave away a small and curt nod of appreciation to the efforts of the marine maiden as well, before continuing.

“I thank you stranger, and to everyone I say that I am sorry to darken your door,
but the situation demands I make some effort to intervene…”

He’s quite civilized for a wolf man, huh? Contrary to her own expectations and perhaps many of those around them the wild looking figure showing himself to be surprisingly articulate, having already been mildly impressed with his calm and collected bearing the blue beauty could only raise her brow as this ‘beast’ continued with his explanation, and was likely not the only one. Especially when he clarified his reason for coming here a little better.

“I come to you a beaten man… My brother has usurped leadership of the clan through dishonourable means, and unfortunately now seeks to slaughter you all.
His ambition, and his love of power have driven him mad, and he must be stopped…”

The werewolf certainly seeming to spell out the fact that he had come to the village not on a simple whim to chat or otherwise wreak havoc but more out of a sense of desperation and no shortage of worry, it quickly became apparent that much like the folk that had gathered around him the furred figure had not had the most wonderful experience of life lately, and wished to make a rather bold change in that regard.
I think I know where this is going… That perhaps understandable given the sounds of the things that he had been through, even before he had asked what he was going to ask Sofia could guess the destination of his discourse, and found it flooded with dread, which others around her probably would experience as well.

“Unfortunately, I cannot hope to defeat him and his whole pack, especially when I am wounded myself… So I seek aid of any who can lend it among you, and should we prove to be victorious, I will ensure than neither I nor any that remain in my clan will ever bother humanity again?”

This no simple social visit and chance to check in and catch up with how the other half lived but rather a call to arms, it sounded like the trouble that both parties had faced recently was merely a prelude of worse things to come, and much worse was on the horizon waiting for them. Which, as one can expect, was rather worrying…

It’s a big ask. I bet most would wanna run away, but… Will they really make it down a mountain like this before the wolves catch up to them? The murmuring quickly abating once the real message had been told to the village, instead of a group of gossiping wives and concerned husbands Sofia found herself surrounded by nothing more than shapes and silence, and knew exactly why that was.

“Even if every single one of us alongside you, would we really be that much of a challenge for pack of werewolves out for blood?” No doubt the people around her even more shocked to discover that the trouble they had been through was only the beginning and not the end of their problems and simply reduced to shells because of this, as the people around her remained stifled it fell upon the visiting vixen to speak up on their behalf, and mention how mad the plan sounded. Certainly there not looking like there was much hope in any of their options but the idea of a bunch of people from a village besting a pack of beasts seeming ludicrous, since Miss Serena had seen one of their number in action she couldn’t help but scoff at the chances of Mr or Mrs perfectly normal holding a candle to any of these bloodthirsty brutes, and had to speak out against the notion if no one else had the mind or mouth to do so.

“If you face them directly, then no… You probably wouldn’t?
However… There might be a way?”

It seeming that she was not the only one who held this line of thinking, as the murmuring began again Sofia was surprised once more when the wounded wolf himself seemed to agree with her, and quickly seemed to fire back a bit of sassiness because of this.
“Oh, do we need to gather seven skilled warriors or something?” Their whole situation seeming like it had been plucked straight out of a storybook that she had read when she was little, the sapphire siren couldn’t help but share that fact in a sarcastic manner as she poked at the thinking of the beast before her, but it seemed that despite her efforts he had a plan in mind for how they might proceed.

“You may only need one?
I take it you, stranger, are the one who bested one of our crazed deserters from last night?”

“Somehow, yeah?” The feral fighter seeming to know something that she did not and pointing out the fact that at least one among the people who stood before him had managed to get the better of a ferocious furred fiend like himself, apparently that seemed to be the key to the situation as a whole for reasons that Miss Serena would not entirely understand right now, but soon would. This no simple brute but rather a beast that was blessed with brains as well, he had an idea about how they might be able to save the day with as little blood spilled as possible, and soon after would share that with her in the hopes of winning the girl over to his side…

“Good, then we just might have a chance…”
