”G-GET AWAY FROM THE LIGHTHOUSE! NO, STAY AWAY FROM IT, AND DON’T GO ANY NEARER!”

A roaring voice filled with panic came from an elder male with a cane who was clutching his shirt as if he was about to have a heart attack. Only a dozen meters ahead of him, Daiko was walking the opposite direction with Coda on his shoulder, and once the elder man spotted the much younger one approach the very lighthouse that he was warning people against, Daiko suddenly spotted the old man cling onto him and push him back.

“N-No! Do not… I beg you…!”

Daiko was, reasonably, confused, but he had to grab the old man and prevent him from falling down in exhaustion. “H-Hey, calm down…!” he warned the apparent tourist - Daiko could tell by his choice in shirt - and helped him to a nearby bench with bushes behind that revealed the shore further ahead. Once sat down, the old man caught his breath and looked at the other tourists at the street turning away after having heard his warning.

“*huff* I… wait, you’re a mage from B-Blue Pegasus, right…?” the old man asked the Fire Mage, to which Daiko nodded in confirmation. “Yes, I am,” he replied quickly and with pride, to which the old man found it necessary to explain what he had experienced.

“T-There’s a monster in the lighthouse, and it’s threatening to kill any who stays there! It almost got me in its claws… and it can phase through walls! It’s a ghost, I tell you! I knew it, all along! Me and my crew should’ve listened to Billy; the founder of the lighthouse… it must be his vengeful spirit!”

“A-A ghost?!” Daiko exclaimed in shock, “Woah, you’re lucky to have escaped unharmed! If there’s a ghost haunting you and your men there- w-wait, what are you guys even doing in a lighthouse?”

“Don’t you… *inhale* Don’t you know? We’re the ones who watch the shores and waters from the lighthouse… or we used to, before the nobles left and we didn’t have anyone of authority to report to…”

“Damn, you guys too? I’m starting to really hate those nobles who just left Hargeon… first pirates, and now a ghost.”

Daiko was sitting down on the bench next to the old man and chatted, getting to know about the guard who used to live in the lighthouse and signal the ships from afar with the giant torch at the top. And Daiko had previously made a deal with ex-pirates who were happy to guard the town’s port for a solid salary, and they would benefit from signals from the lighthouse… and if it came out successful, then perhaps that could draw in more ships, y’know, ships with things to sell etc. Daiko had a brief, faint but understandable idea about business overseas and stuff, so he would gladly help give the lighthouse a purpose again. However, that required getting rid of the haunting ghost…

Daiko Flayme
The door into the lighthouse was opened up wide and quick by the bashing hands of Daiko Flayme as he entered with a sense of authority that he had never felt before. This was going to be a nice outpost for the old man’s crew to guard the seas and the town as well - the lighthouse looked well over 100 meters tall, perhaps over 200, and it was wide enough to fit a living complex inside for a small family.

But enough about that. Where was this darn ghost?

Shockingly, Daiko didn’t have to venture the hallways and staircase like a classic horror story character, for the ghost floated down from the stairs like a hound pouncing at him with its claws pointing forth. A hissing voice shouted at him, and instead of frightened by the idea of a ghost haunting this place, Daiko was mildly shocked like he was when a bandit tried to mug him.

Daiko instinctively punched at the ghostly entity - it was dark-blue and foggy in form - but his punch phased right through, and so did the rest of the ghost when trying to pounce on him. However, as the ghost was now behind him, it grabbed onto him as if it was still able to physically contact him without the vice versa being possible. What a cheat!

“H-Hey, let go!”

“NO! I’VE WAITED FOURTY YEARS FOR A YOUNGSTER SUCH AS YOU! YOUR BODY IS MINE!”

The ghost proceeded to leak into his skin from behind, suddenly fusing straight into Daiko’s core completely. It looked as if it had possessed the poor Fire Mage, and it only confirmed so when a crooked smile rose on his lips.

“YEEEEEEEES! AT LAST, I CAN ESCAPE THIS PLACE! HOW LONG HAS IT BEEN?! OH WAIT, FORTY YEARS, RIGHT! I JUST SAID THAT! YAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! NO MORE LIGHTHOUSE! SUN, HERE I-AAAAAAAARGH, WHAT THE HELL…?!”

The possessed Daiko suddenly saw his hand smashed down by Mero’s Gauntlet still attached to his left knuckle. The mage cried in pain as the left hand kept smashing it down in an attempt to scare off the ghost.

Once when Daiko walked outside again, his right hand was splattered. He didn’t show it to the old man, but what he did show was the farewell of a ghost that decided that moving on to heaven was better than getting tortured like that. Daiko had to hold back some tears, though… the pain was immense.

"So... the ghost is gone?"

"Yup. It wasn't really... it didn't look like a watchman or anything. I think it was just *ouch*... some random dude's spirit."

"... W-Well, if that's true, then... wow, you solved that pretty quickly. I guess you can always count on Blue Pegasus to deal with these problems."

"Of course! Does that mean that you can move back in with your crew again?"

"S-Surely! Our lighthouse is safe and sound again, I can't wait to go back in...!"
