Kaiser

Kaiser wasn’t a believer. She didn’t believe in anything and would never be influenced to lean that way. If there was a ‘God’ who determined her fate, she believed it was herself. Only she herself would be the one who controlled the outcome of her actions. No one or thing had the power to do that, in her opinion. Although she would never go out of her way to make others believe the same thing, Kaiser thought of the people who believed in a ‘higher power’ as weak, especially the ones who depended on that ‘higher power’ to make their life easier through prayers and the like. However, if someone was trying to influence her beliefs, she was the type of person to be an asshole and make fun or mock them. It was a fine Thursday morning when Kaiser woke up extra early to visit the local temple. The only reason that she had planned to do this, was because she wanted to turn it into something else...maybe an amusement park. Since Illumin was more popular in Fiore, the churches were more dominant and the temples had only monks and not many worshippers most of the time. Since the monks also lived within the temple, they were usually the ones present at all times.

After having a refreshing bath and getting dressed up, Kaiser left the living quarters within the guild compounds of Daeva Eye. She was dressed in a simple outfit that was entirely black and snug, so it was showing off her curvy features as well. The goal for today was simple. She was going to the temple, see if she could get to an agreement with the monks to give the land to her. She was feeling a little fancy, so she took a carriage.

It was a little tricky to be honest. Kaiser had never dealt monks or other kinds of clergymen, so she did not exactly know the right thing to say to them, but she planned on just winging it and playing along with whatever they said. Arriving at the entrance of the temple, she was greeted by one of the monks. How did she know he was a monk? He was bald, had a necklace of beads around his neck and wore yellowish orangish robes. This was all signs of being a monk, right? At least Kaiser knew that much. The monk greeted her politely, and asked her if she was here to go on a ‘spiritual journey’ and ‘find’ herself. To be quite frank, this weirded the fuck out of the vampire. Did they always just ask this whenever someone stepped into the premise of the temple? She was very tempted to ask that, but kept it to herself. Instead she said, “I’m here for a different purpose. Can I see the head monk here?” She almost slipped up and said ‘top dog’ instead of ‘head monk’, though she was unsure if that was the right way to put it anyway.

Luckily, the monk at the entrance did not smack her straight in the face for saying ‘head monk’, so she was probably right in her choice of terms. With a satisfied smile on her face, she followed the monk to where he led her. The temple was really nice actually. Since Kaiser had never really been inside the compounds of one, she observed the buildings and the landscape. It would be a lie to say that it was not aesthetically pleasing. Kaiser liked to look at things that were aesthetically pleasing to the eyes. And not just places too.

Kaiser

Being led around the temple gave her ideas of what elements she would keep when she turned the temple into something else. It was known to her that the monks’ living quarters were within the temple compounds as well, and she would have to come up with a place for them to relocate to, if the monks agreed to giving up their land to her. She kind of had doubts about that, but she already had some ideas on where she would relocate the monks’ living quarters to. She would present these ideas to the head monk of course, when she got the chance to meet him. The whole thing about monks being superior to nuns totally turned her off about this whole religion. She heard that only males could go to some holy places, where women were not allowed. Such a sexist religion. It went against her whole guild’s ideology, even though the guild is being sexist by not allowing males as well. This was a result of the society anyway. It was bound to happen. Women would rise up to power to prove that they were equal, and at some point hopefully in the near future, it will all work out this way.

The monk she met at the entrance did not even ask for her name and did not bother giving her his, so she went out of her way to ask him, since she was tired of thinking of him as ‘the entrance monk’ in her head. His name was apparently Monk Aang, and was one of the newer monks here so he was assigned to entrance duty, or something along the lines of that. Kaiser introduced herself as well, just to seem friendly. She also told him her position of Guildmistress in the local guild.

Kaiser

The monk did not seem at all moved by the fact that he was meeting the guildmistress of the local guild. Kaiser was momentarily offended, but she understood that monks did not really desire worldly possessions and a title probably went in that category as well. Or at least, they would be trying to practice to not desire worldly possessions, she imagined. Kaiser took note of the things that she liked about this place on her lacrima pad, the landscaping and such. The temple compound was spotted with little ponds here and there, which in some of them, she found ducks, koi fish and then there was this lake that had a small piece of land right in the middle of it, with a little bridge that connected it to the rest of the compound, on which she saw a monk meditating in peace. Apparently she was being led here.

Monk Aang brought the vampire to the bridge and then said, “Would you like me to talk to him for you, or would you like to do that yourself?” to which Kaiser replied by saying that she wanted to speak to him on her own. Monk Aang then bowed to her with a hand to his chest, and then just left her with the meditating monk. Honestly she did not know whether she should just go up to him and straight up start talking about her plans, or like wait for him to stop meditating? She realised that she should have asked Monk Aang that before she dismissed him. Now she just stood awkwardly at the end of the wooden bridge, staring into the clear lake water. She was trying to be civil since she wanted to make a good impression on her prospect. She wanted to sell this idea.

Kaiser

It was more of a persuasion effort rather than an ‘idea selling’ thing since she wanted the monks to be out of here and relocated elsewhere. According to the research that she conducted before coming here, there were a lot of things she just learnt about monks and temples and the religion itself. Kaiser was the type of person who liked to do proper research on things before she started to take action. Hopefully she did not miss out on anything. So according to the study, the monks were supposedly peace loving, not interested in worldly possessions and usually give in to negotiations. Based on these facts, Kaiser had a good feeling about the outcome of her objective today. It was unbeknownst to her, however, the actual result of her attempt today, which was vastly different from what she had imagined.

About three minutes had passed since she was left alone here by the other monk, who had completely disappeared and was nowhere to be found at the time being. It only took three minutes for Kaiser to be like ‘ok fuck it I’m going there’. But it seemed like the monk on the island either finished meditating or stopped because he noticed her presence somehow. Just as Kaiser was about to step on the bridge, he moved, eyes opened and turned to look directly at her. She had a feeling that he did not just stop though. The island was so small that literally only one person could sit on it at one time. Kaiser just stood there, waiting to be called or something because she did not know whether he wanted her invading that tiny little space that he was in. Kaiser was doing it again, considering other people’s wills over her own. That was some wild shit.

The monk then got up from his tiny space, lacing his fingers behind his back as he began walking along the bridge towards the vampire, torturing her further by taking painfully slow steps as he did so. He was much older than the first monk she met, as his eyebrows had turned gray—almost white. Kaiser put on a small smile, since she did not want to appear like an idiot by giving him her usual maniacal grin. Since the bridge was about a few meters long, Kaiser felt like an epoch had passed by the time the monk finally arrived at the end of the bridge that she was standing at. The expression on his face was completely blank, rendering the brunette’s ability to read people completely useless. Only when he was finally off the bridge and standing on the neatly cut grass, the monk returned a friendly expression. “I see that you’ve been waiting for me for some time. How may I help you today?”

Clearing her throat, Kaiser began by saying, “Oh uh yes Monk Aang brought me to you. I’m sorry to disturb the peace, but would it be possible to discuss something that has to do with the land area of this temple? I’m looking to—” and was cut off by him opening his mouth and saying:

“Ah, alright, please follow me then. My name is Monk Gyatzo by the way.”

“Okay. My name is Kaiser Bo. I am the leader of Deava Eye,” Kaiser introduced herself as well. Once again, this monk too was unmoved by the fact that he was talking to the guildmistress of the local guild, though he might have had a reason to, being the head monk of this temple or whatever, even though that was not really how it worked.

Kaiser

Kaiser was once again following a monk deeper into the temple. Even though monks were supposed to be peaceful people, she still had her guard up because she did not trust anyone. There was the chance—a low chance however—that these monks were actually evil creatures and captured people to kill and eat way back inside the temple or something. It was a wild ass thought, but there was nothing that proved that it could not be the case. After all Kaiser had met a lot of different people of different races and ethnicities, and she knew that creatures like for example the daemons could take on the form of a human and blend in with them. It was possible that a daemon could be hiding in this temple as well, disguised as a monk and appearing to be a peace loving human, while eating people in a secret lair within the temple when everyone was asleep. Just a thought.

The head monk, known as Monk Gyatso, led her to a three storey building that looked like their headquarters where they discussed temple business. He asked her if she had eaten, and the vampire nodded with a smile. She had eaten actually, for the week, and she was feeling quite energetic still. Besides the food that humans ate did not really fill her much, just a tiny fraction of how much feeding on human blood replenished her. Monk Gyatso then took her up a flight of stairs, and then another one, until they reached the third and final floor of the building. On the first floor, she saw young monks playing a board game that was not really Fiorian. It looked more like a Sinese game, but she could not be sure. On the second floor, it was their dining area.

Kaiser

Kaiser noticed that a lot of monks were gathered in this building, although she spotted monks here and there all over the temple grounds while she was being brought to this establishment. On the top floor was what seemed to be Monk Gyatzo’s little office or workplace. “Is this your office?” she asked, to which the monk replied with a soft chuckle. He did not say yes or no, but Kaiser implied that it was. She did not expect monks to be having to deal with matters that required them to have an office of their own. Monk Gyatso gestured for Kaiser to take a seat opposite to where he situated himself. There was a teapot ready to be poured and the monk did so for the both of them. Kaiser reached for the cup and allowed the warm liquid to course down her throat, virtually calming her down as it did.

The vampire was ready to launch into the presentation of her idea that she had been preparing before coming here, but the monk opened his mouth first and said the most unexpected thing of him to say. Kaiser was speechless, and her eyes expressed the shock and confusion she was feeling. What he said was this:

“Although it may be rude of me to say this, I have to for the sake of this temple and those residing within. You are not the first person who has come to us to make a deal to take our land and I have encountered so many of these people. If that is what you are here for as well, before you start your proposal with your ideas I would like to request you to leave the temple,” he said with that same smile that he gave her at the bridge.

Kaiser

Needless to say, the vampire was taken aback. The way that he spoke triggered her so much that she went into full ‘fuck you and your goat’ mode. Hurting her pride was a big mistake, and she was going to show this monk and his other bald friends just how big of a mistake he had just made. Calmly placing the cup of tea back on its little saucer, Kaiser allowed a small smile to creep on her lips. The monk continued to give her that smile that Kaiser was just looking forward to peeling off of his face. “Does that mean that I have to use force? I was going to be nice about it, but that doesn’t seem to be working. I did some research on your practices, and way of life before I came here. It was a waste of time after all, since you’re all dense idiots who don’t realise who they’re dealing with. I am Kaiser. I don’t take no for an answer,” she said.

Before Monk Gyatso opened his mouth again to speak, Kaiser opened her palm and conjured up a storm of crash energy that would break anything within its effective size. The monk was knocked out of his chair and off of the third floor, all the way down to his demise. Of course this caused a commotion downstairs and the younger monks were screaming after seeing their head monk with a snapped neck and a bent form, lying in a puddle of his own blood. The sorceress then moved down from the third floor and then proceeded to level the building with another one of her crash techniques, killing all of the monks who were present at the time. She was not done though. She was not leaving any witnesses here.

Kaiser

The bloodshed was glorious. It had been a long time since Kaiser did anything this spectacular. Strewn across the temple grounds were bleeding corpses of monks, painting the once vibrant green grass with their fresh blood. Kaiser knew that leaving a witness would be bad for herself and her guild, which led her to slay every last one of the monks, using her magic most of the time and other methods that were necessary in some cases such as using her physical strength or some random wooden sticks that she found. She assumed that these were the weapons that monks used to practice with, and her assumption was confirmed when a few of the monks tried to fight her back with those wooden poles. Some were even made out of bamboo.

Kaiser took her time to be sure that none of them were left alive, and then came back to the body of the head monk that was just outside the three storey building, which was now just a huge pile of rubble now mixed with body parts of dead monks. She was covered from head to toe in the blood of these monks, it was as if she had bathed in them. She lifted the corpse of the head monk and dropped it into one of the ponds that had the koi fish in it, watching his blood contaminate the water. She then returned to the lake where she found him meditating and took a dip to clean off all the blood on her body. After cleaning up and making sure not a drop of blood could be seen on her, she sneaked out of the temple and headed back to the guild. Once the officials took care of the mess and put the land up for sale, she would try to bargain for it.
