The weather was perfect for training, the sun was shining brightly outside. Sage walked towards the border of Astera to begin his training of the day. He walked into the forest alone leaving the busy city, there seemed to be no sign of other human or animals around. It was, quiet. Sage walked further into the forest until he found a clearing in which he smiled wide as he found it. It was the perfect place to began his training. Sage began by closing his eyes and just breathe. Breathing is crucial to life, and it seemed like many take for granted how powerful the power of a breath is.

Sage breathed in air through his nostrils and slowly release back the air in his body to the environment. Where it is recycled by the trees around him. He had learned the reason why the way he breathed is the most efficient way to breathe, he had studied the human body from medical texts back when he was a kid. Breathing this way gives him the most oxygen his cells could get.

Afterwards, he began to stretch his body in the style of what is known as yoga. It was very relaxing and refreshing. As he was done with his warm up he was ready for his real training. But before he could practice conjuring his spells the ground suddenly trembled. Like a small earthquake was occurring, which was weird. Then he realized, that it had been oddly quiet. There was no breeze, no birds chirping, no frogs croaking, no insects buzzing, no nothing. He began to grew suspicious of the forest. He could feel that something was wrong.

Without expecting it a nine feet tall creature emerged from the ground in front of him, it had strong pincers in front of its mouth, its body long and serpent-like, it had a pair of legs for each segment of its body. Its eyes were blood red, Sage could feel its rage and hunger just by looking at it. The creature dove right towards the mage but he jumped away right in time and avoided its attack.

The white mage landed on one side of the clearing, a few meters from the serpent-like creature. He quickly stood up from the ground, facing the creature in a stance, ready to move if anything happened. The creature seemed to have knocked itself quite hard in the head as it dove straight to the surface of the ground. But it proved that it would take a lot harder than that to knock it out as it regained its stand quite shortly afterwards. Sage’s breathing was then disoriented. He was training his breathing but now as adrenaline filled his veins, he could feel his heart pumping very fast, his lungs expand and shrink quite quickly as well.

He hadn’t practiced any new spells yet. But he could pull off a few horrible spells that would be quite sloppy at that early stage of gaining new magic. The creature arched its back, preparing for another dive in attack. But this time it wasn’t a surprise attack, Sage was ready. He concentrated on the creature’s every single motion. His pair of legs in a stance, ready to move at the sight of the creature going to strike him. His fingers are hardened, concentrating his mana onto both his palms.

Then there it was, the slight motion of the creature moving in, the creature was fast. But the white mage was faster, he leaped to the side with the strength from his legs, and when he was in mid air, two dimensional cubes formed inside both his palms. It would have a purple glow around it but the centre of it was pitch black. The cube rotates inside his palms. Intuitively, Sage threw the first dimensional cube towards the creature. Sage had no idea what the cube does, but he would soon find out.

He watched as the dimensional cube leaves his right palm, swirling across the battlefield, moving towards the creature. Then boom! The dimensional cube exploded as soon as it touched the creature. The creature wailed in pain as a result. Its screech were loud enough to make nearby birds flew to the sky scared. The magus landed from his leap, another dimensional cube was still on his left palm. He threw it again towards the creature, but it missed! Instead it hit a big tree nearby, the dimensional cube still exploded from the contact with the tree, and to his luck the creature was close enough to be affected by the explosion and received damage as well.

The effect from his dimensional cubes made the creature fell to the ground. But only for a matter of seconds because it stood right back up and screeched again. But this time it wasn’t because of the pain but it was due to its anger. Sage could feel it as its emotion travelled across the forest. He waited for the creature to strike again, being in a prepared stance, ready to lunge when it strikes once more. But to his surprise, the creature didn’t arch its back like last time, instead it opened its pincers and the inside of its mouth starts to glow. At first he wondered what was that thing before it was too late.

A gush of green acid shot out of the creature’s mouth and Sage was too shocked by this fact to move. But something weird happened. He felt a sudden sting in his left eye and he could feel a strong magic circulating in his eyes. The green acid disappeared, without a trace, instantly. It was as if the acid didn’t exist at all. Even the creature was taken aback by this. Puzzled by what happened, the creature immediately dug its way under the ground, escaping from the situation. Sage was still on the ground, catching his breath still trying to process by what happened. He decided to call it a day right afterward.

That night, Sage couldn't sleep well. He was sweating like crazy, he felt like there was something his body wanted to tell him. And his left eye stung and made him restless but he didn't know why it stung. He thought that by resting it would all go away but he simply couldn't rest, as if his body didn't allow him to do so. He finally stood up from laying down, sweat trickled down his forehead and he was panting for air. He decided to get up and drink some water, that might cool him off. As he walked towards the kitchen area he suddenly fell down. At first he was completely shocked and confused. He was falling in darkness, he looked around and the bed, the floor, the ceiling were all gone. He didn't know where he was and he finally fell on a surface, it hurt a bit but he had much worse before.

Groaning in pain, he slowly stood up to take a look around and figure out where he was and what happened to him. As he looked around, he was quite perplexed. There was nothing there except for rectangular prisms, all of different sizes and it seemed to continue on and on endlessly. He had no idea where he was and how he got there but one thing for sure, he need to figure out a way to get out of there. So he started walking around the area, trying to find something, anything that could give him the slightest hint. And then he found something, near the place he landed, there was what looks like a jewelry of some kind. He picked it up and examined it closely. The item was made of silver and there was blue crystals around it. Sage could feel the arcane power inside the charm. He believed that it had something to do with all of this, and him particularly.

Out of pure instinct, he wore the charm around his neck like a necklace, and as he did, he could feel something flowing through his veins and his left eye began to twitch, but it didn't sting like the last time. The next thing he knew was that he was back in his room. He still had no idea what happened. But then he noticed something, there was a book on his bed. He didn't remember leaving any books on his bed. The cover was pitch black and the paper of its pages seemed really really old. He sat down on the bed and took the book in his hands, resting it on his lap. He flip the cover and on the first page, there was a title, though it is in ancient latin. But luckily it wasn't a problem for Sage as he knew Latin. The title says 'Arts of Kamui'. He flipped to the next page. As he read, his eyes widened. Now he knew exactly what happened and why. He possess the Kamui magic.
