Noel

Noel Raion.

Jūryoku Ōkami @ Advent World

Noel had noticed the impacts of his ill-gotten reputation changing the regular equilibrium in his normal life. He figured if he were to die, there'd be a lot of people happy - and think back of him as someone wicked. He'd been thinking quite a while about ways of changing this general opinion of him. An answer to this question had become apparent to him a few days ago, where he decided a celebration of art in his name might sway some around. Today was about putting that idea into motion, and testing out if it could yield results.

Deep in the night before, Noel had sneakily entered one of the shops near the center of the town. Sneakily due to him having built quite a reputation, this was a cloak and dagger operation - simply to acquire some hardware in order to put together several different posters. It was quite innocent in retrospect, he avoided the eye of the public while drawing up the advertisements to his grand idea.

It was a contest, more specifically; a poetry contest. On the poster, he'd jot down the details of the location and the time in which he'd accept submissions. So that all interested participants would know where to be. The participants are asked to submit a piece of poetry based on the picture presented to them. A drawn concept art of the actual painting in question was presented on the poster.

He'd spread the posters to a couple of street urchins, dividing a fair share of jewels between them to encourage them to tag the posters around town. Before the contest started, he'd setup a small exposition in the mentioned place. The painting he'd brought over from the Majura Painting Gallery in Oak was put on a nice display. A table had been put in front of the painting along with many different blank pieces of paper. A quill with some ink accompanied this, along with a chair providing those who were willing to participate with comfort as they wrote their poem. Participants were encouraged to include their name in the poem, and once they were done to put their poem into a wooden box that had a slit in it in front of Noel.

To break the ice, Noel decided to be the first one to make a poem. He'd take a seat on the chair in front of the painting, and take a piece of paper and start writing a poem that matched the scene of the painting. He chose the theme of his poetry to be an epic. After being done with it, he'd read it out loud.

"By the shore of Hargeon,
By the shining of hill Marigold,
At the foot of adventure,
In the pleasant Spring afternoon,
Discovery stood and awaited."

After expressing his poem to the streets of Marigold, he'd put the paper he wrote it on in the box next to the painting, he'd stay by the painting with both arms crossed, ready to answer any question and generally safe guarding the painting and the poems. "If anyone would like to make a submission, please feel free to do so." Noel said to the cautious crowd who were somewhat interested to what he was up to.

Steel

Steel had changed clothing from travelling and was now wearing jeans, An open jacket with nothing underneath, socks, shoes and sunglasses. He was standing in a crowd of people on the third avenue of the streets of Marigold. He had seen some posters about a poetry competition and had decided that he would enter. It wasn’t a fight and Steel would still be happy even if he were to lose. He stepped out of the crowd and up to the podium where the man had set up the poetry contest.

He grabbed a piece of paper from the table and a pencil and started pondering on what to write. He then started scribbling a bit on the back side of the paper and crossing out the words that he didn’t like. He went back and forth holding the paper up as he wrote. It was a bit theatrical to walk around in front of a crowd like this but Steel thought it built up the suspense among the people for whatever he was writing

Three deer stood atop a mount.
Free the wind carried through a sea of grass.
Three deer stood atop a mount.

A hunter hiding in plain sight.
Killed three deer atop a mount.

A hunter stood atop a mount.
Free the wind carried through a sea of grass.

Steel wrote on the paper and then put it in the box where the other man had put his own piece of paper earlier. Steel then performed his poetry to the crowd.
“Three deer stood atop a mount.
Free the wind carried through a sea of grass.
Three deer stood atop a mount.

A hunter hiding in plain sight.
Killed three deer atop a mount.

A hunter stood atop a mount.
Free the wind carried through a sea of grass.”

He then jumped off the stage and joined the crowd again.

#3Leah Black

Leah Black
Leah’s trip to Marigold went smoothly, almost like a whisper between time and distance inside a train. It had been a while since she’d traveled like this; with no real duties or intentions in mind. Only the exciting uncertainty of finding the unexpected and getting carried along with the flow. Since she was a small girl, her immense hunger for knowledge was put into a strict leash along with a yearning for adventure. However, at this moment of her life, the Stellan just realized the power inside her own convictions and heart. Thoughts of this kind clung into her mind as the beautiful green landscape was left behind.

Once the road was over Leah went off the train not carrying much. Humming a cheerful melody as she walked through the narrow station, getting a complete vision of the city. Her violet eyes tinkling to no expectations ahead, only the mere idea of entering a new adventure. After reaching the entrance of the city, Leah could not hold her desire to go around all the place. It was huge, filled with a cheerful aura in the air. She didn’t really know where to head, yet she had always been good at situating herself wherever she went.

An hour passed by quickly while she walked through the streets. Being her usual self, slowly singing, immerse in her thoughts when a small crowd of people captured her attention. Down at the third avenue, her curiosity sprouted as she discovered what people were looking at. A beautiful painting on canvas was settled at the center of what seemed to be an arranged event. She reached to read clearly what the posters on the sides said. "Hmm… A Poetry competition?", a small smile appeared on her face. She loved to read poetry and even had written some poems by herself. It was obvious that she will be participating.

From where she was, she caught a glimpse at a man sitting in front of the painting. He spent a couple of seconds observing the canvas and then started to write on a piece of paper. From Leah’s perception, he didn’t seem to be the type of person to be interested in poetry. Nevertheless, she didn’t dig deeper into that first impression. As she was not the type of person to judge a book by its cover.

When finished, he read his poem out loud and then placed the paper on a box beside the painting, and proceed to invite the crowd to do the same. A couple of seconds passed as the hesitant viewers awaited for somebody else to join after the demonstration. Somebody followed, and did the same as the first guy.

When the second participant finished Leah turned to look at the others, deciding to move to the front of the painting. Her serious expression might not match with the thrilling sensation on her chest, yet the girl stepped forward to take a seat and view the picture clearly, having the eyes of the crowd following the young lady.

“Destination huh?”, she muttered indistinctively. She took a piece of paper and poured some words of inspiration before standing again, facing the observers to read out loud her poem:

"I foremost seek,
a place between the clouds and land,
a place between my soul and hights.

I beg the deers to teach me,
how to climb the hills,
how to live from grass.

They tell me to follow the lights,
until I reach a place where I'll find the courage to fly.

A destination,
not a place.
It resides inside".

Leah smiled pleasantly to the crowd’s reaction and then went to submit her poem. She’d never done something like that, but she was willing to take a chance.

Karisa

Revana slowly brushed her hair as she sat on a bench. The air was crisp like a welcoming of spring. The hint of flowers could be smelled as it embraced her entity. Her lilac eyes watched the people roam about, but a specific place had her eyes truthfully. There seemed to be something going on which caught her interest. While sitting there peacefully, she heard rumors of a poetry contest going, but what shall she even write? 'You should probably go find out if there's information to be had.' Kuri told her as Kurisa stood up. Coldly, she gazed at the target and walked towards it and went inside.

There were many people sitting down as people were preparing or waiting to listen. She wasn't the first as she heard three others so far. Once they were done she walked up to see the subject of a painting. A painting that made her feel peace, free, and like her dream without the flowers. "Alright then." She nodded and spoke to herself. Slowly, she got on stage and spoke;

"Upon the Lowly Earth
Roams those that guide to the light of great sovereignty
Towards the height of the heavens comes unity
Giving the feeling of Worth

Unknown road to embrace such fate
As one walks alongside the grasslands
Feeling peace with a breeze, not berate
Like after a long journey, returning to one's homelands.
Upon the guiders on the lowly earth
that will make the long live worth."

She wanted to go on, but some people appreciated a shorter version than the long version. Sometimes it makes them want more and many times it makes them feel satisfied. With a bow of her head, her lilac hair flowed behind her as she walked down the stage to enter a corner to watch more. Even if she didn't win, she'll judge the poetry herself.

#5Sage Meilyr

Marigold Poetry Contest (Open) Empty Tue May 12, 2020 11:44 am

Sage Meilyr
It was a beautiful day in Marigold, Sage could just feel it. He was wearing a big white cloak with black shirt underneath, along with black pants that has a big open end. He had his staff in his left hand as he walked the streets, a smile on his face as he greeted the ever friendly people of Marigold. As he walked by, an urchin called onto him and invited him to a poetry contest. He smiled and thanked the urchin as he took the poster and examined it thoroughly. Sage had always been interested in writing poetry, but he had never shown it to anyone before, he wondered if he should join the contest or sinply watch from the crowds, enjoying the poems of others. For him it was rather a hard decision, he was afraid he would make fun of himself as he never knew what the people would think of his poetry.  Despite that, he still made his way to the venue of the contest.

Sage arrived at the venue and joined the crowd, he looked at the painting that was the inspiration for the poems that would be presented. Sage thought that it was a beautiful painting, and he could feel his poetic self being driven by the alluring painting and started to make a poem inside his head. But he was still doubting if he should present it to others ot not. So he waited, he waited for other contestants to present their poems, and Sage fell in love with all of them, he had never seen such a poetic and meaningful scene.

After a lady with flowing lilac hair presented her poem, there were no other contestants and the atmosphere began to die off. Sage was struggling with his inner self until at one point he decided to just do it, plus this could be his only chance of sharing a part of his inner self to the rest of the world. He walked towards the table and reached for the pen and paper, he already had a poem in mind, and all he needed to do was write it down on the paper and insert it into the box. So he wrote down his poem and when he was done he looked at the small crowd of people, he was nervous at first but then he looked at the painting again, and a small smile formed on his face,

"I seek for an inspiration,
so I climb up a beautiful mountain,
I observe the way of mother nature,
the way it set things into motion;

I wish for a wonderful life,
and not for damnation,
so i keep on seeking,
for my beautiful destination."

After reading his poem, he could feel a heavy weight lifts off his shoulders, relieved as he got pass that wonderfully. Sage went on and place the piece of paper into the box and return to the crowd.

Noel

Noel Raion.

Jūryoku Ōkami @ Advent World

The first person submitting a poem looked like a young man, his clothes were as casual as any other. From the looks of him, he could be any other regular citizen that wandered the streets. Noel opened the box next to the painting so the male could put in his poem into it. He confidently recited his poem to the crowd. Noel thought it was a somewhat brutalist piece. Maybe this was a reflection off his soul. Noel clapped, and some of the audience began to stick around to watch. "Very good sir." He'd reply to the male who jumped off into the crowd. Another girl joined shortly after the first boy had made his poem. Unlike the boy, she read her poem out loud before putting it on the box. Noel listened intently to her creation. Her poem was very warm, it gave him great feelings of wanderlust. A reflection of firey optimism, creation of a perhaps innocent soul. Noel clapped his hands again, as more of the crowd had joined. "That was lovely miss."

The gaps in time between contestants ranged from short to long. Noel felt a cold drop of sweat run down his spine as the next contestant joined the stage. His eyes slightly squinted at the female who resembled someone from his past. It created a certain desire to call out to her, confirming his thoughts - though Noel decided not to. This wasn't a good moment for that interaction. He decided to keep his eyes on her and follow up with her after the contest had ended. Her poem was very good - it spoke of travel, and unity. This had hit a philosophical note. He'd mumble something about a free chair as she gave the audience a small bow. "Minty fresh miss, has anyone offered you a free chair before?" It was a callback to the past, a test to see if she was who he thought he was. After she had left the stage, and the crowd had grown larger. The next participant was a tad bit nervous at first, but delivered very solidly once his creation was completed. His poem rhymed and bounced with energy, it led a path for optimistic ambition.

After all participants had submitted their poem, Noel read them out loud from the written pieces to the audience so they could vote. He'd set up four spots where everyone listening could vote. Of course, participants weren't supposed to vote on themselves. Noel counted the votes, and announced the winner at the designated time.

"The winner of the first Marigold Poetry Contest is... " A short pause drew the attention of the audience. "Sage Meilyr! Congratulations, your prize money will be wired to you shortly! And you will also of course receive a personal notation in my logbook as the holder of the 'Raionspeare' title!" Noel clapped, some of the watching public clapped too. "Furthermore, I shall ensure all your poems will be listed under the painting in the Majura Gallery in Oak, open for all to witness. Thank you for joining everyone." Noel said to the crowd that still remained, the crowd started dispersing not long after, Noel collected the poems into the box, and stored the box in his backpack. He put the painting under his arm after putting the furniture used back in the places he borrowed them from. Looking around the audience to see if the winner remained around, he'd approach him if he was and invite him to dinner, on Noels dime of course.

exit.

Steel

Steel watched as the person after him went up on stage wrote and recited their poem. It was as if the poem spoke about her wants and a future filled with learning. Most likely it was all based on her personal wants. Then the next person joined the stage and did the same however this time the poem was more about abstract matters such as guidance and purpose. After that person was done she stepped off the stage and seemingly joined the crowd again. Then another one came upon the stage. A boy. He wrote and recited his poem to the crowd. This poem was about seeking inspiration and doing so by exploring the world. It was a good poem.

After that votes were passed and then the result was revealed. Steel's entire being became concentrated on this one event. “Sage Meilyr” The boy who had gone last was the winner. Sure Steel wasn’t happy about losing but then again there was no harm in losing a competition like this. Time passed and Steel decided he would leave the area before he would have to talk to any of the other contestants and so he made his way out of the crowds and away down a lonesome street.
