Rania’s time in Marigold Town was slowly coming to an end, but there were still things to do for the Paladin. After being here for months, instead of just weeks, the woman had gotten acquaintanced with a number of people here, all of which were friendly and also very knowledgeable and sometimes even important in regards to the town. Rania was going to help out again, but this time the task was going to be more unlike something she had done before. It was fine though, after all her magic wasn’t just for healing, it was for fighting too. Most people she conversed with didn’t know this, because Rania believed that she should use her magic for good most of the time, which was usually healing people and making sure everyone was healthy.

But of course her magic could be used for other things as well, such as fighting and harming and defeating those she considered evil. Rania was, on first looks, a simple woman. She was friendly, kind and very helpful – someone who avoided conflict at all costs, didn’t argue and had no bad bone in her body. But her life hadn’t always been easy and while she did seem naive at times, she most certainly wasn’t an innocent flower. A few days ago the Sorceress had been able to attend the Syllas Banquet, a town famous banquet when guests from all over the country were invited to Marigold and the noble family that held power over Marigold Town invited in some wizards to showcase their magic to entertain the guests.

Rania had been one of those wizards and many people had been impressed by her healing magic, something she very much enjoyed and was happy about. There were many things Rania could do with her magic, but it seemed that for now she was going to be offered a new job opportunity. She had received a message from Fernando De Syllas, the young lord, who informed her that there were bandits harassing the citizens on the market place at night.

Up until now, those bandits had always been able to disappear without a trace and it was up to Rania to end their reign of terror. The local stores required protection and Rania was happy to help. Although she had to admit she was wondering why a simple girl like her was tasked with such a task, when there were enough military forces and Rune Knights around to do the trick but she wasn’t going to question that out loud of course. Deep inside she could only wonder. Of course Rania looked like a little girl who was unfit for this task, but as a mage this wasn’t going to be a problem for her hopefully. Her magic was very blinding and could be quite painful when used correctly, so she didn’t worry.

Rania’s plan was to quietly roam the streets near the marketplace and keep herself hidden away for the time being, until the bandits decided to show up. She had to play this cool, because her strength was the element of surprise. She had this new circlet, which was infused with magic and great for surprise attacks, or getting away. She would use this circlet to blind the bandits when she spotted them, knock as many out as possible (preferably the leader) and the bright light would alert the guards to come to her assistance. Of course that way the bandits wouldn’t be alerted by the initial guards presence and everything would hopefully go by smoothly. And if anyone got injured, she could always still heal them and herself.

Rania began her mission by sneaking through the streets at night. She would be tired in other circumstances but tonight she was way too excited to even think about sleep. Rania was pretty excited knowing that she could finally do what normal mages did on the daily: fight bad people, help the citizens and just in general have an adventure. Of course it would be much better if she had a companion or a friend, but that couldn’t be helped right now. She was just as capable on her own!

Rania was quietly wandering through the streets and kept her eyes and ears open. It didn’t take very long for the Paladin to hear some sort of commotion coming from the marketplace. It was ridiculous how confident those bandits had gotten at this point. They didn’t even care that they were totally audible and visible, they just seemed to know that they could do whatever they want. But that would end now. Rania snuck closer and spotted three people in general, not a lot to be honest. One of them clearly stood out as the leader whereas the other two were already on their way to carry goods away. Rania figured that once they were out of sight and the leader was still rummaging in the shop, was a good time to strike.

The Paladin held on tightly to her staff and frankly, couldn’t wait to try out her new circlet. These types of brawlers were often were weak to magic anyways, so this should be relatively easy. And the guards would be nearby and be alerted by the bright light coming from both her magic and her solar circlet. Rania entered the store behind the bandit leader and aimed her staff at him. “This ends now,” she then said to him and he slowly turned around. Of course when he saw her, his first instinct was to laugh at her, she was just a girl after all, but by that time Rania had already fired two beams of light from her scepter and at the man.

Both spells hit right one, and it was in that moment when Rania activated her solar circlet and used the blinding light to blind the bandit leader. He called out for help and rose his hands above his face to shield him, but the light had already taken its effect. He was unable to do much in this situation, especially not fight back since his vision would be blurry for at least sometime. The guards also arrived shortly after and were able to take the job from Rania at this point. She was rewarded a decent sum of money and allowed to leave.
