"Oh, darling. I love you, it had always been you." A few days earlier, Masami received a letter from a man who was named Ocha, and it was specifically given to Kita Masami. While nobody knew what he was up to, Masami decided to finally complete the quest by going to Crimson Quarter alone. His outfit made him look extraordinarily feminine, and nobody would even assume that he was actually a male despite the physical developments his body underwent for a few months now. He needed to make an effort in dressing up, otherwise he won't look convincing enough to even pass the part one of module. Even though Masami went there alone, few of Ocha's men guarded him in the shadows, thus making sure that he won't lose the job and die. After all, he was an S-Rank now, thus he should be able to do it, right? Masami entered the party with extravagant clothing, including hair pins and inking in the face, and then anklets. He was supposed to look for a big man who was known in the Crimson Quarters as Kodo-kai, and the paper described him as "having an appearance of a young man, whose old age covered up by magic". They mentioned him having an intimidating appearance which makes everyone listen to him in a single order. Nobody dared to talk nor fight back, as they say, but Masami will still the judge to those rumors. Along with the letter was a painted portrait of Kodo-kai, and indeed he had an appearance of a young boy, seemingly older than Masami, however, but that was reasonable enough for Masami to tuck the letter in his overcoat's pocket as he walks onward, looking for where the gambling will be held. Tonight, Masami is an adult, or at least he was playing the role of it. Maybe he can do a gamble or two? 316/1700 「-15% WC reduction via Guild Perk.」 北正美 |

He found himself a private vehicle that lead to where the gambling and auction is going to be held. Apparently, along the letter was a certain ticket that made Masami some sort of a Very Important Person, thus giving him free ride on the way to the venue hall, and perhaps back home as well. Joya didn't have these sorts of vehicles, the ones that bring them to a hundred places in a minute. Although it was a metaphor for good rides, the vehicle that Masami rode at the moment seemed to bring that to life. In a span of thirty seconds, he was already in front of the building of where the gambling and the auction is going to be held. The building was far from the point Masami stood a few seconds ago, this was definitely not normal at all. Magic-infused vehicles are apparently a thing now. "Thank you." Masami nodded after thanking the vehicle driver, along with the assistants inside, and then he proceeded to gaze over the building before presenting a card and then entering. From then on, Masami is known as one of the richest residents in Crimson Quarters, at least it was a role he was taking. He'd be joining an auction, and then assassinating a certain someone. Even though he had already done a lot to provoke the wrath of the evil beings in Hosenka City, apparently, Masami found himself disguising quite more often. His own mother, Kurisa, does not know that he is in this sort of place and that she doesn't need to know. He will come back home, and perhaps back to the guild as well, with more things to be proud off. All of these were achievements to Masami, even if it costs his dignity and his reserved innocence. 616/1700 「-15% WC reduction via Guild Perk.」 北正美 |

Entering an extravagant building made Masami gape over the view, as it wasn't comparable to the previous buildings Masami was in, at all. While he walked at the halls, the custodians handed over a glass of wine in a quick motion, placing them inside Masami's hand to hold and then leaving, as quick as that. Knowing that it was alcohol and that Masami cannot afford to embrace a drunken state tonight, he held the alcoholic beverage and refrained from consuming it, finding the right time to leave it on a table. The people who saw this would think that Masami was being sassy for refusing to drink the beverage, but none can truly say so. Masami would find his way to the gambling area; fully decorated by strings and dark red walls, it was definitely a place where only adults can enter in. Not the type of style Masami wanted, which were supposedly vibrant and glossy, a safe and joyful atmosphere. That said atmosphere is no longer present, sadly – when Masami browsed through the different games and gambles, he did not know where to start. Instead, by instinct, he went to the bartender and showed the card that was given to Masami along with the paper, and the bartender recognized this as he revealed such a shocked expression. He dropped everything that he was doing and went off of the counter. "Please follow me." he said, walking to a hallway in which Masami did not go to. That wasn't just instinct, apparently he had received some sort of telepathy from Ocha's men, as they promised they would help. While following the bartender, nobody else minded them, thinking that Masami is their equal or perhaps, even lower in certain ranks. Eventually, he was brought to a place only Masami could enter, and the door was left open for him alone. 925/1700 「-15% WC reduction via Guild Perk.」 北正美 |

In the end, he found himself in a completely normal office. The man who sat in front of the office table had exactly the face that was painted in the paper given through the letter, but Masami wasn't so threatened so far, now that his target is right in front of him. There were two assistants that sat upon the couches before the office table, and all three of them gazed at Masami's presence. "Ehh, this was the slave? Doesn't look so darn flashy." said one of them, then continued reading their magazine. The other assistant didn't say anything, thus Masami found himself in an awkward position, just standing in front of the door without saying or doing anything. Kodo-kai stood from his seat and approached Masami, then caressed his cheeks and hair. Masami found this uncomfortable, enough as to accidentally slap Kodo-kai's face away and then backing off a little. Expecting that he would get hit, Masami met disappointment instead. If Kodo-kai hit him first, then Masami has a reason to fight back, but instead he would have to wait a little longer than that. He was, however, pulled towards the office table to sign a certain paper. He felt that he should do as Kodo-kai said (in a telepathic way), thus he stamped a finger in red ink, then tapped a certain spot on some sort of paper. Kodo-kai guided Masami's hand while they did so, and just like that, the contract was signed. For some odd reason, Masami felt like everything was going the way he wanted, especially when Masami was suddenly carried by Kodo-kai on the way to the main auction hall, and made him sit on a decorated couch. Apparently. the main subject and the apple of the eye of the auction was, in fact, Kita Masami himself. 1228/1700 「-15% WC reduction via Guild Perk.」 北正美 |

Before Masami was revealed as the final auction item, he sat in a dark storage room, along with the decorated couch that seemed to match tonight's outfit. Masami was carried through the couch when they finally revealed him, and instead of awe and cheer, the audience seemed to question instead. Who was this person? And why should they pay for his auction? Don't worry, Masami had the same thoughts. However, as immediately as that, the host introduced Masami: "The legendary Joyan performer, landed in Fiore a few months ago. For those who don't know, he is a keepsake; the third child of the Kita house, the owner of Hinoki Theater." Like a doll, accompanied with his porcelain-like face, Masami sat quietly without moving an inch from the couch. He was presented right in the middle of the stage, all the lights shone on him. It was so bright that he had to look down, otherwise he would blind himself. The host, who was merely reading a page of information, continued. "Son of Kita Yoshimitsu, and Kita Yasuko; Kita Masami remains as the—" apparently, from then on, Masami could no longer hear anything else. Whose child was he? Why did they say "Yasuko" instead of "Kurisa"? With a surprised expression, he suddenly faced the host, trying to gain more answers. Immediately, before he could even stand up, he felt like his body was electrocuted, thus he was forced to properly sit down in the exact same posture as earlier. His ears rang, but the host continued to speak. "Started his training at the age of three, Kita Masami debuted at the age of twelve-years." it looks like the host won't stop until someone starts raising the price, and to Masami's surprise, it was Kodo-kai who shouted: "Thirty-million Jewels." from a distance, and then everybody started to echo their offer, trying to calculate how much Masami was actually worth. Even if it was just materialistic money, it had an effect on Masami. When he pleased the judges, it was always about the money—he had to be the best. When he pleased the audience, they received more, and he had to remain the best. When he pleased the court, he needed to be more than the best. When he burned down the court... When he burned it down...? Where exactly where these memories coming from? The sounds of numbers and the rising of prices covered Masami's senses until he only saw the pitch darkness when he closed his eyes—now, he focused a vision of a woman's face. His mother, not Kurisa, but the reason why he left for Fiore. He needed his mother's cure, which was why he left Joya for Fiore. With fire, the same flames that burned the court for justice, Masami had engulfed the same flames within him, turning himself into a form that he did not want people to see. However, if it was for the best, then maybe Masami would be willing to hold his breath. 1728/1700 「-15% WC reduction via Guild Perk.」 北正美 |
