#1Jan Ren

Cleaning Duties [Quest] Empty Fri Aug 21, 2020 11:32 am

Jan Ren
Making his way downtown. Walking fast, faces pass and he's homebound. --Actually, city-bound.

Today's request started off with the Sinese walking down Crimson Quarter in search of a specific detective's office. Apparently one of the more talented in their workfield, yet still needing to request such minor tasks from wizards. Seems that everyone had their own troubles with day-to-day activities... As for the first time in a while, Jan Ren's assignment wasn't anything dangerous or involving anything potentially bad; it was, simple cleaning. Yes, that simple.

However, "--Uwah..." When he opened the door to the office, the young man was greeted with the site of numerous books, papers and the like stranded everywhere on the floor; hiding it completely. Seriously, even some of the furniture had some of these papers laying on them. In particular, the decorative plant. Already beginning to work, disgust clear on his face as the odor finally caught up to him. The Sinese' developed sense of smell had come in handy lately but in this case it only backfired as he could smell the very bold odor of sweat, coming from under a pile of books.

...Hold on, that's the detective!

Waking the middle-aged man up to greet him, the two had exchanged a nice conversation over a cup of coffee (after Jan Ren had recruited his strengths to fully organize the assortment of books and papers left on the couch). From the looks of it, Weirdlocke was an, odd person; but definitely not a bad one. Despite their conversation being short-lived before the detective laid out everything he wanted cleaned (to which the Sinese had simply said "Yeah, I figured."), Jan Ren's impression was quite good. Bit unorganized, but very eccentric. Refreshing, to meet a person like that.

While the old man had left to work on his own pressing business -- speaking to why he fell asleep behind a pile of books in his office, the young man got to work. First, organizing the several books and documents if possible; and on his way due to sheer chance, the Blue Pegasus wizard learned that the primary case at hand was a fight between two rival gangs in this city. Again, gangs and crime. It seems that everywhere he went these days, he'd encounter it one way or another. Seriously, people these days had no morals and no manners... He'd consider himself flat out superior to them in that he, is actually decently mindful of others.

Scrubbing the windows there, shelving books here. Sweeping the floor, shelving books again. File papers, then again shelving books. The amount of documents Jan Ren had observed in his short stay at Weirdlocke's was impressive, a number fit for a small library. It wasn't just documents about criminals or cases; inspirational books, documentaries about influential figures and crime stories. This man was an avid reader, and despite being unorganized at the moment, an awfully dedicated worker.

In time, Jan Ren had finished his work for the day; bidding Weirdlocke farewell after a generous pay, for such an "easy" job.
