Steel and Erebus are considered ten meters from each other.Erebus sat at a chair two cards in his hand, three revealed on the table... He glanced up reading multiple different facial expressions through a dim candle light by the cards, true to the saying of poker face, at least one other person here was as unreadable as he was, blessed by the game. Erebus raised two racks in chips, revealing a pearly white smile and a wink to the other somewhat decent player, as the rest scrambled their thoughts to process how they would be able to pay that should they meet an unforgiving loss at the ends of the trickster.
With it being such a high risk game, they were likely to be offed by someone in the nearing future and only Erebus was really able to defend himself here. Making him the only one worth enough to throw around his money, and also furnishing him as the best at the table, despite not being the dealer himself.
That was when he heard metal bend and creak around twenty-five to thirty feet behind him, then a door smacking the ground in it's aftermath. He normally wouldn't turn, or do anything-- best to mind your own business in the gutters.
In a situation like this, instead he reached to the table and raised a half-smoked clip to his lips, pulling his dangling green bangs from out of his face; he lit the cigarillo with a silver zippo lighter, simply opening it to reveal a flame. It was when
his name became audible that his interest in this card-game ran sour and forced him to fold by force of forfeit; well not literally, but it was likely that in the next few minutes he would be busy.
Erebus was a Rogue after all, and a pretty high-stakes vigilante across Fiore in these recent months, pushing his chair to spin around, the dagger-wielder stared in the hammer's direction, eye contact flicking off from after he noticed the suited individual. No mistaking it this stranger was geared for war, and was holding a legendary war machine, his day had finally came & now he had to fight or goto prison...
Erebus scoffed, somewhat annoyed by those thoughts, he then sighed noticing every finger in the room now aimed directly at him, affirming that he would need to address the situation directly. Cheeky.
"You sure you want to push this? I don't look for any problems, and I'm sure you don't want this one. What's your name?" He pardoned himself the luxury of offering the Spellsword that much, rather contradicting himself as he was indeed a compulsive gambler, and he'd take his chance rather than retreating outright.
Besides, Erebus was wanted for being so well at what he did, that he pulled swindles on his own quest-givers. Known for taking more cream out of the crop from those fuckass underpaid desk job snobs...
Erebus had already untucked his dagger as he spun around and made that partial-formality. However, no later than the last worst, and Erebus had flickered out of sight in the dim cellar room, the whole act was just him giving light time to pour his mana into his own cloak. With the dimness of the room added to this scenario, coupled on top of his near-invisibility, seeing the fine details that would've given Erebus away at all were next to impossible. The Rogue had an advantage in spaces so tight, where one could not hope to escape nor counteract him.
The street peddlers, and mafia members were almost inherently aware of this kind of situation, and could only hope it would end quickly without casualty to
their lives. Though, for a Rogue, the term '
take it outside' didn't apply, and Erebus wouldn't honor that code of warfare, he had no use for it. The cunning fighter could outwit the prideful one any day, as the art of war clearly indicates...
Erebus would be able to move silently, and without sound to accompany his stride, walk, or lunge to the ceiling, which he had already done; upon instant of fading out of sight. Above a wooden ledge Erebus could tightrope around the ceiling and drop down whenever necessary, or move around tables below, as six decorated the cellar room, with a bar on the opposing end. Now, if Steel hadn't done anything that provoked necessary movement on the actions of Erebus, Erebus would cartwheel in one lunge to the far left of the boards above the room, and lunge to the walling above the door, from that spot he'd mounted above, Erebus could fall and strike Steel in one fell action to cut clean into Steel's back, neck or head if not stopped or actions avoided.
