Steel

It was a hot summer’s day in the month of august. The sun was shining high in the bright blue sky, the wind was blowing through the trees and tall grasses and birds were singing. Steel had been looking around for some dude called Erebus for a while. Ever since Zane told him that this Erebus was some kinda guy that could help them in their task. They had to do a break in so Steel hoped it was some sneaky type because neither him nor Ko were really the stealthy kind of guys.

Narrowing it down, Steel had gone from village to village on his wyvern asking around about this mysterious person that he only knew by name. He had narrowed it down to this one little place in Rush valley. The cellar of a building was rumored to be some sort of gambling hall and the entrance to this shady establishment was down a stairway to an outdoors cellar entrance in a side alley next to the building. Walking down to the entrance Steel was wearing all of his equipment. The Vanguards Armor, Mjolnir, his Pyaar earrings and the haste ring. Other than that he was wearing a gambeson under the armor and over it he was wearing a large cloth cloak that was really only there to keep him from becoming hot in the armor.

The door had almost no features except for a blocked unpickable lock and a door eye slot. It was made of steel reinforced oak wood. Now Steel big and strong as he was could probably force the door open but he would try to be nice and sensible first so he knocked three times on the door hoping that was some sort of secret knock. Sadly however the slot in the door opened and some person's pair of angry looking eyes with a dark manly voice answered “Password!”

Steel immediately due to the fact that he did not know the password started slowly answering “Excuse me… Do you perhaps know…” Before he could finish the slit in the door closed and Steel once again looked at this mostly featureless door. “Well that was rude, Now I have to break the door down” He thought to himself. He stood there for a short while before he slowly backed off and then raised his right leg. With all his might he kicked into the door and destroyed the hinges making the door fall into the building. Sadly the door had also crushed the man that opened the door eye slot earlier. And as Steel walked into the room with his hammer at the ready he walked on top of the door and shouted “Excuse me does anyone of you perhaps know a guy called Erebus?”

Erebus

Steel and Erebus are considered ten meters from each other.

Erebus sat at a chair two cards in his hand, three revealed on the table... He glanced up reading multiple different facial expressions through a dim candle light by the cards, true to the saying of poker face, at least one other person here was as unreadable as he was, blessed by the game. Erebus raised two racks in chips, revealing a pearly white smile and a wink to the other somewhat decent player, as the rest scrambled their thoughts to process how they would be able to pay that should they meet an unforgiving loss at the ends of the trickster.

With it being such a high risk game, they were likely to be offed by someone in the nearing future and only Erebus was really able to defend himself here. Making him the only one worth enough to throw around his money, and also furnishing him as the best at the table, despite not being the dealer himself.

That was when he heard metal bend and creak around twenty-five to thirty feet behind him, then a door smacking the ground in it's aftermath. He normally wouldn't turn, or do anything-- best to mind your own business in the gutters.

In a situation like this, instead he reached to the table and raised a half-smoked clip to his lips, pulling his dangling green bangs from out of his face; he lit the cigarillo with a silver zippo lighter, simply opening it to reveal a flame. It was when his name became audible that his interest in this card-game ran sour and forced him to fold by force of forfeit; well not literally, but it was likely that in the next few minutes he would be busy.

Erebus was a Rogue after all, and a pretty high-stakes vigilante across Fiore in these recent months, pushing his chair to spin around, the dagger-wielder stared in the hammer's direction, eye contact flicking off from after he noticed the suited individual. No mistaking it this stranger was geared for war, and was holding a legendary war machine, his day had finally came & now he had to fight or goto prison...

Erebus scoffed, somewhat annoyed by those thoughts, he then sighed noticing every finger in the room now aimed directly at him, affirming that he would need to address the situation directly. Cheeky. "You sure you want to push this? I don't look for any problems, and I'm sure you don't want this one. What's your name?" He pardoned himself the luxury of offering the Spellsword that much, rather contradicting himself as he was indeed a compulsive gambler, and he'd take his chance rather than retreating outright.

Besides, Erebus was wanted for being so well at what he did, that he pulled swindles on his own quest-givers. Known for taking more cream out of the crop from those fuckass underpaid desk job snobs...

Erebus had already untucked his dagger as he spun around and made that partial-formality. However, no later than the last worst, and Erebus had flickered out of sight in the dim cellar room, the whole act was just him giving light time to pour his mana into his own cloak. With the dimness of the room added to this scenario, coupled on top of his near-invisibility, seeing the fine details that would've given Erebus away at all were next to impossible. The Rogue had an advantage in spaces so tight, where one could not hope to escape nor counteract him.

The street peddlers, and mafia members were almost inherently aware of this kind of situation, and could only hope it would end quickly without casualty to their lives. Though, for a Rogue, the term 'take it outside' didn't apply, and Erebus wouldn't honor that code of warfare, he had no use for it. The cunning fighter could outwit the prideful one any day, as the art of war clearly indicates...

Erebus would be able to move silently, and without sound to accompany his stride, walk, or lunge to the ceiling, which he had already done; upon instant of fading out of sight. Above a wooden ledge Erebus could tightrope around the ceiling and drop down whenever necessary, or move around tables below, as six decorated the cellar room, with a bar on the opposing end. Now, if Steel hadn't done anything that provoked necessary movement on the actions of Erebus, Erebus would cartwheel in one lunge to the far left of the boards above the room, and lunge to the walling above the door, from that spot he'd mounted above, Erebus could fall and strike Steel in one fell action to cut clean into Steel's back, neck or head if not stopped or actions avoided.

Steel

Steel had not really gotten accustomed to the lighting in the room yet. But due to the fact that he had the sun at his back and his person cast a shadow through the doorway he got accustomed to the light and tone of the room pretty quickly. Quick enough that when everyone pointed at the green haired guy and the green haired guy stood up, spun around, pulled a knife, spoke a few words and then disappeared from view due to the dim lighting in the room and some weird magic Steel was capable of seeing it.

Steel due to the way the man said the words coupled with the action of drawing a knife and turning nearly invisible understood that there had been some sort of mistake. Well Steel was not really able to see the guy in this lighting so he stepped back out as fast as whoever apparently was Erebus turned nearly invisible.

Sadly Steel wasn’t a good honorable guy anymore. Maybe this Erebus guy would have to be tamed like a wild stallion. Or maybe all that was needed was some conversation. Well to start with Steel wasn’t gonna have this fight happen in some rundown badly lit cellar but it seemed that had to be the way. Before doing anything else he would be courteous enough to reveal his name “My name is Steel.” After saying that he raised the gorget(neck protection) so that it covered up to his upper lip this would make the rest of his words sound very deafened.

Then after raising the gorget Steel reached forward with his left arm, the arm that was not holding a weapon and said the word “step” A magic circle formed behind him and he was sent forward five meters into the cellar room at 7.5 meters per second. Meaning the move into the room was slightly quicker than a second and placed him halfway between where “Erebus” and himself had been earlier.

Erebus

Just as Erebus would disappear it seemed a second later and his enemy had sprung, a magic seal could be seen framing before it's magic could ignition fully, with another appearing at it's location on him, with that last thought in mind his enemy was on his position. Fortunately for the Rogue, and unfortunately for Steel, Erebus had touched down with his feet on the ledge overhead his location prior in just enough time to react accordingly. Being barely within a striking distance for Steel, the Spellsword would have a hard time landing a blow that Erebus couldn't draw advantage from. With the high ground belonging to Erebus, he was an Unavoidable force, ripe for reckoning upon the enemy. This spot meant he had a plethora of escapes or opportunities to gun for striking radius.

Await the enemies next movements simply by evading or parrying; or, he could fire downward just before a swing of that thunderous hammer. Erebus aimed his dagger forward, within location it could take him no acceleration time to move into line of fire at Steel in 0 seconds at 30 meters a second. However, Erebus was privy to his location, he wanted to wait until the moment drew dire to capitalize on the attack, instead, he simple hopped shy of attack range and remained invisible in the darkly lit backside of the room. Until Steel was ready to come up, and when Steel came up, Erebus could drop below and evade around tables; a game of guerrilla warfare, where he slowly picked at the enemy from different angles. In a war of speed though, the Rogue was the unyielding master. Steel may have had magic speed on his side, but nothing could beat the old school agility in terms of reaction. Erebus wielded much lighter weapon and would always have the pinch if he could stay ahead.

Steel

Steel could not see nor hear his enemy as he scanned the darkness with his eyes but could not see the one he was looking for. He was however not about to play the man’s games of hide and seek. Instead Steel would make his way deeper into the gambling den until he was by the tables. The moment he got there he would pick up a group of candles from a table. Getting the candles he would light them and then use them to light one of the wooden pillars on fire. All of the wooden pillars were connected by wooden arcs and so when the fire Steel had started would blaze it would in time reach all corners of this underground gambling den. To make sure the fire wouldn't go out from anything small, Steel ripped off the cloth cloak he had been wearing up to this point and tossed it on the fire.

While doing all of this Steel remembered to keep an eye out if he noticed anything like a shadow moving or more importantly if “Erebus” would come out and fight him. In any matter it seemed one of the wishes Steel had had had been fulfilled. This “Erebus” guy that he had been looking for all this time ever since Zagan told them they needed to go to the royal library and steal a book, was someone you could count on for stealth. At least that was good about this situation. Steel hoped he wouldn’t have to drag the person along though because he did not have time for that and doing this kind of thing with someone who did not want to would be literally impossible.

Steel then turned out to look out at the entire room and spoke with a loud voice “I won’t play games with you.” He said as he thought this was a good way of testing “Erebus” abilities.

Erebus

Steel was a brave enemy to keep hunting another hunter. Erebus was of the finest of his class, and in this environment a bloodlusted demon. Steel was strong, but you wouldn't fight a sea serpent under water, and Erebus was the monster in this underworld. Steel was not equipped to fight a Rogue in the dark.

From the last actions taken, Erebus would break from his hop skip quickly, having been following his opposition's movements qith careful stride. With Steel appearing at the end of his dash spell, Erebus angled his form to slip into a jabbing stance. Whereas Steel went for the candles, Erebus was left with a choice, allow the hostile to grab the fire, or snuff it out like the superhuman beast he was. This is around the time Erebus would smile coyly, (-v- time for funsies) In the time it took Steel to reach for the candle, Erebus had kept his dagger exteneded on Steel's form. Noting his fall into stationary status, he was cue to launch at 30 meters in frame of a second, with only a meter or two separating them at his attack point, effectively putting him on Steel who had just opened his guard for the candles. Erebus attempted to strike diagonally downward as he would come to the ground, with colossal strength likely ripping Steel's armor off it's hinges.

Escaping was not impossible, but futile where Erebus had the lighter weapon, higher speed, and more lunges to keep counteracting physical fights. It wasn't impossible to defeat him, but with respects to the strength and speed of movement on Erebus' part, it was with little time for Steel to think before he was swinging. Erebus would attempt at already being upon the backside of Steel there in the moment, leaving him no chance, Erebus hadn't forked over a single warning of caution just yet. Erebus was a warrior privileged to care little about honor, he was weaponized, and took glory in his own world; where no one had to know he was the bad motherfucker that he was. Except him, of course. For this reason, he would fight in the cheapest ways, assuming it brought him a success.

Steel was no different in theory, to the traditional warrior, neglectful of the dangers cascading around them, they were audible, spoken, courageous; physically stronger perhaps, but brute by nature. The agile, precise, and deceptive rogues were ninja against the samurai, they were bred for special operations... Erebus was going to land this strike and if it didn't go through, it would be a revelation of surprise.

The action would have been fast so in the case it happened, because of the distance in separation from the two, at this close proximity, Erebus would use Steel's off balance body, still reacting from impact to imbalance him on the shift to realization, by popping his foot into the backside of STeel's knee, the Spellsword would buckle upon the massive strike, and off his wobbling knees. Phantom Dancer was the ultimate speed machine combined with a Rogue's knack for agility and given acrobatics to their attack patterns at the ground level.

If Phantom Dancer collided it would sting for higher damage on Steel's back than it would have from the front, if it hadn't Erebus would react according to the scenario presented. The armor protecting this mage would surely fail after the first blow from Erebus; but it might leave him alive enough to see that further combat in the case something forced Erebus back onto the defensive. He'd be insistent if the first attack was successful, to pinch for more damage and be greedy, Rogues' were ruthless, and he was no different, especially in the adrenaline shot spur of the moment. With the time allotted to him before Steel was aware that Erebus had provoked hostility, instead of just retreat, as it might have appeared just briefly; he had interrupted and jumped onto the offense.

"Save it, Bounty Hunter!" Erebus spat at the end of his combo, should everything have occurred successful, as he assumed it would. His stance shifted as he spoke so that he could react if needed too during that time, allowing for instant lunge away, or backward roll to a handspring, at a moment's notice he could fight in the offensive or the defensive.

Steel

Steel was just about to pick up the candles when he felt a dagger rip into him from behind and a great force spun him off balance. Due to the fact that the stab didn’t hit him square in the back Steel would use the power from the strike to turn himself around. And whilst turning he would swing his hammer to protect himself from continued attacks. He felt the foot to the back of his knee but spun around on the outside of the foot so that it did not hinder his movement.

Anyone behind him who did not jump away from his striking range would be caught either by his elbow or the hammer that followed. His total reach was 3 meters due to the length of the handle and hammers head coupled with the length of his arm. (Arm = 1m 10cm, Hammer handle = 1.5 meters and the hammers head being 40cm long.) Anything hit by the hammer would probably be crushed (taking 2S rank damage) and anyone hit by Steel's elbow would be knocked off the ground (taking 1 S rank damage.) The force from the spin and the fact that Erebus attack had destroyed Steel's armor would cause pieces of the armor to fly off in splinters.

After spinning around on one foot. Using the force of the hit coupled with the added speed Steel had given to the rotational force by shifting his center of gravity and pushing off with one of his feet. Steel once again landed square on both his feet having done an entire 180degree turn. Now the rest of the armor fell off and Steel was no longer protected by his vanguard armor.

If Erebus would jump back away from Steel so as to not get hit by the defensive reaction Steel had had to the first attack then Steel would see Erebus due to the fact that Erebus would be in the more lit up area of the room due to the fact that Steel’s back had been to the door and jumping back/away from Steels attack would cause Erebus to jump into the door light. The moment Steel would see Erebus he would raise the hammer to the ceiling(the hammer is in Steel’s right hand) whilst keeping his left hand up to protect himself from further attacks even though it was no longer armored. Then after only two seconds a beam of lightning would crash down from the skies at instant speed and hit Erebus. The lightning could not be evaded due to the immense speed it was travelling at.

And since this lightning came straight down from the heavens and crashing through the building all the floors in the building from the roof to the very bottom of the cellar floor would light aflame removing any darkness and turning all dim light into bright light.

Erebus

  • Claiming another S-rank strike as I said if given the time frame allotted when I hit the first time, I would follow up. You posted saying you raised a hand up for defense, but I can't see an explanation to defend against me if you can't see where I jab at/from.

------

Erebus felt his dagger rip through and tear the armor off the body of his enemy, as said Erebus would take additional shots on Steel if he could have that first strike go through and he hadn't necessarily been stopped, as a matter of fact Erebus struck a clean upward slash when breaking off for another S-rank damage on Steel, with steel making a 180 degree bolt around, Erebus merely wove with him; keeping himself as positioned behind the man as he could, due to it being the most advantageous place for the Rogue, Erebus was a fluid fighter and was use to this, doing dives and somersaults all his life, he was primed to the finer details of combat, Steel had fought imbalanced in the moment, and with a much heavier weapon to boot, and thus, it would not suffice in effectively catching an invisible rogue by surprise.

Erebus was never sure on most things, but he could sure face the Hammer of Justice, for only one truth could be reality, Erebus was chaos in shape, and chaos is Unavoidable. Steel would need to spin another 180 degrees to meet Erebus at the position he had moved himself into to stay up to speed with Steel's attack patterns. From meeting the table, it would not slow a Rogue down to fall into a roll or bodily motion in combat... He simply rolled with the contact of the table, being silent as he was walking, and against the table surface, Erebus played jack the nimble above the candlelight.

He was aware now, with the thought catching his mind later, that two lions were in a choking circle for vindication, and he was the Scar to this Mufasa, Erebus would strike from the shadows a thousand times over if it meant championing the task of defeating his opponents. But he would champion them, nonetheless.

At this Rogue's speed, everything was too fast for him to worry about; he simply held tactical location and effectively faster timing to reach and pull out each time he was attacked. He really was the phantom dancing with his victim, effectively having dodged the fray of the hammer's attack, without it having made contact Erebus fell into a calm and tranquil duck at the end of the table. Which meant he fell from the roll into a crouched state, knowing he would be clear to lunge from that spot in the coming storm. Because he hadn't made his way into the light as Steel would have assumed him too, there would be no attack target there for Mjolnir's lightning to strike a target down upon either, meaning Erebus was granted his 2+ seconds, time in which Steel would have hoped to electrocute the Rogue within. Before they could run up entirely of course, Phantom Dancer was aimed properly and the Rogue would be shot into his target yet again, this time to strike upward vertically, unless given reason to act defensively, if Steel would attempt to thwart Erebus, the situation would turn for Erebus to react according to the dangers presented. He would come in, with his free left arm open for defense, striking with his right.

Steel

Steel swung around 180 degrees. Whilst doing so he felt no impact with his weapon. He had made a big mistake thinking he could take on Erebus. Was he going to die here? Maybe maybe not. If only he could utter a few words before life was ripped from him then maybe he would be safe. He felt the now warm steel of the bloodied dagger length weapon as it ripped into his back first through a layer of the skin. Saying it ripped through would be a bad way of saying it though. It slid through easier than a knife through butter.

The skin opened like a zipper, then the flesh and veins. Blood gushed out through the open wound. Slowly consciousness started fading as Steel was quite obviously damaged goods. He had some fight left in him but not much. He worked fast. He opened his mouth and started talking “Good, you are just the kinda guy I need fo….” before being able to finish what he was saying a flash of pain shot into him as the dagger once more hit into him but this time stabbing deep. Luckily it did not hit any vital organs. Everything went black.

Erebus

Erebus relinquished his knife from the target's torso, bending to catch the body before it hit the ground roughly. Erebus applied a hand to the user's guts, keeping them inside there the best that he could. Something about Steel's last words had caused an insatiable amount of interest from Erebus, who could never seem to stop thinking about money was this a job offer? He normally went to job boards for that kind of thing himself... So what then?

The many men in the gambling hall, simply looked back down at their cards, and returned to normal. Though, the Rogue would take this body before it could turn into corpse. It was time to get to the bottom of whatever this was. The sly speedster left without letting others follow his whereabouts.

When Steel was saved by Erebus' and his curiosity, he would awake to a cup of water splashing against his face. His arms bound by chains to hold him4 above ground tipping at his feet. It would feel excruciating for Steel and his recently stitched holes that caked his back and side. To hang like this was not the most comfortable way to be anchored to life, but until the rogue knew what the hell was going on, he was going to leave this stranger there to think about it. "Okay Steel, you have my attention. Who sent you, and who are you. Other than some headlines I've seen around the bounty boards, I barely stay up to speed on some of you guys... So what is it then, you trying to collect money on my name?" Erebus drew Phantom Dancer producing forth a facial expression as cold as the blade itself, poking Steel's neck.

Mostly to scare the Spellsword, whom he knew was probably capable of getting down as easy as Erebus had strung him up. After all, his hammer was heavy as hell, and Erebus had a field day trying to bring that with them to this place. It currently sat in the next room, behind whatever den he'd taken this mage too. As well as his gear, which Erebus paid for repairs on since getting back. In total, it was about six hours later, around 11PM.

Steel

Steel had been “dreaming” of a hellish landscape that was all around him. Dragons everywhere. A giant sized battle and he was in it. A premonition that was soon broken by the cold liquid feeling of water splashing against his face. His eyes opened and looked down at what felt as vertigo due to just waking up. He was suspended so that when looking straight forward he looked Erebus in the eyes but whilst looking down the distance between his face and the floor was almost two meters.

The constant pull on his wounds due to hanging upside down was clearly having an effect. It hurt like hell. He looked Erebus dead in the eyes and spoke “I am a man with a job offer. I just wanted to check your skillset and it turned a bit on the wildside. But at least now I know I need you.” He paused for a moment trying to remember the name of the blond guy that had sent him on the wild goose chase that was looking for a person with only the name Erebus as a lead. Ah right his name was Zane. “Some blond guy called Zane that I work with told me that you would probably be useful for the endeavor we are undertaking. The pay is 100thousand before and if you prove useful unimaginable powers will be granted to you afterwards.” He then hung there dangling from the ceiling waiting for a response. He hoped he would get the good kind of response where Erebus agreed to work with him. The bad response could otherwise be really really bad.

Erebus

Erebus raised a hand to his chin, falling onto his dominant leg for support as he listened to the Spellsword. It seems Erebus had severely overthought the entire search warrant out on his name, luckily... If Steel was lying to hijack his empathy, Erebus had a good chance of defeating a wounded Steel than a Hammer toting one like from earlier, as a matter of fact. Erebus only really pulled the stops due to having tactical location. Steel would probably have toasted Erebus in daylight. That or... A very close fight nonetheless.

"I usually go out searching for my own jobs," He spoke with the hostility absent this time. "My bad there." Erebus walked to the side of the room where his chains were latched around a spinning wheel, he slowly let his mechanism operate so that it released Steel low to the ground and allowed him the chance to relieve the restraint pain on his wrists.

Erebus put a cigarette short between his lips and lit it, he wasn't the kind of guy you expected to smoke, but he'd done it on rare occasion as opposed to daily since the Judgement Tarot gave him a new direction to follow in life. Right now, Erebus needed it, the Rogue doubted anyone could argue him out of it otherwise. The lighter he pulled from a pocket at his cloak was a silver zippo, a tiny firelight illuminated his face in the dim room.

Erebus hadn't seen Zane in a long time, and only that once in Oak. I guess they impacted each other more than he initially thought, for him to recall this far into the distant future. "What does the job entail, how's Zane doing?" He spoke a moment later.

Steel

Steel was hanging and dangling listening to Erebus speak a little bit before Erebus walked over to the pulley and released the mechanism slowly so that Steel sank to the ground. He then lit a cigarette as Steel started getting the chains that had been suspending him off.

After getting them off he stood up and looked his tunic over. It had two large holes in it and was fairly bloody; he then looked at Erebus and started to speak “Zane’s fine. I haven’t really talked a lot to him but he told me to get you.” He then paused for a bit and looked around. How was he going to say this to make it interesting? Maybe there was absolutely no way to do it. He was just going to say it. “I need to steal a story book, I have another teammate but we need someone sneaky to help us.” He then made an awkward pause. It sounded like a pretty bad job right? Well then he continued speaking “The catch. The book is in the royal library within the confines of the king's residence in Crocus.” Awkward pause again whilst he looked Erebus dead in the eyes. And then a braindead question “By the way where did you put my hammer?”

Erebus

Erebus kind of slumped at the simplicity of the job. Steel had risked his life for this? Erebus rolled into his palm's hand with his face and chuckled. "Is that it? Haha." The next statement made Erebus lose his expression. The King. As in the most powerful finacial entity on the planet... And he was stealing a measely book? The sheer audacity, was worth grumbling over but Erebus felt a sense of admiration in the act. Surely a greedy man would take the crown, or treasure. But they were taking a book, fuck yeah. "I like you Steel. Count me in." Erebus fixed his slouched state, and about faced to head off in a direction outside of the room.

Erebus took the next question pretty simply. He nodded at his Spellsword buddy to follow him into the next room. At their arrival, he pointed two index fingers towards the hammer on the ground, against a wall, dropping his hands at his wrist as if to point something out quickly without having to pay it much energy before he could adjust to the attention of scenery in the room. The item gleamed so out of place in this kind of location. As if anyone could turn down this path in town and find something so powerful looking. Erebus wondered what kind of person could acquire that thing. Had Erebus gotten a lucky break? He was curious about seeing this brother's power in action. "What do you call your hammer?"

Steel

Erebus nodded for Steel to follow him into another room. Steel obviously did so and as he walked he spoke “Great, While I wasn’t thinking of getting a thrashing I am happy about the outcome.” Entering the room he saw Erebus pointing at the hammer that was resting against one of the walls. He also noticed that his vanguard armor was there and from what he himself remembered the armor had been shattered which meant someone would have had to pay for the repairs. “Hey did you pay for repairs on my armor?” He looked at Erebus having said this before Erebus asked the name of his hammer. Erebus then asked the name of the hammer.

Steel looked at Erebus then looked over at the hammer. He had found it on a mountaintop in Sieghart and while he had not named it. In his head he had heard the voice of his mother and father as they told him the story of Odin, Thor, Tempest and Rhaen the godslayer. The hammer in that story had been called Mjolnir and was capable of summoning lightning much like this hammer, the one that Steel had found. Steel looked at Erebus once more and then looked at the hammer whilst raising an open hand at the hammer. “I call it Mjolnir” He said as the hammer slowly lifted off the ground and then quickly flew back into Steel's open hand.

He would then pause for a bit before going over to his armor and starting to don it.

Erebus

Erebus watched the hammer levitate, to which he tilted his head. Curious as to how it's enchantments did that. He began to ponder whether it could be possible to attach such an effect to a dagger, and if it were so... Could he get a similar effect for his own style. When the Spellsword approached the armor Erebus spoke again. "I didn't pay to repair it... I'm familiar with gear refinement all on my own. Otherwise I'd have booked it a long time ago. Besides, it wasn't like I was on a time sensitive crunch, if you were some bounty hunter; I would have just sold it and left you in there dangling." He paused, smiling... "Would have kept the hammer though. Pretty fascinating piece you have there, just a little heavy. I prefer my agility over brute force. What a lavish thought to be some warrior with that thing, but I stand a better chance moving on my feet to keeping it stationary for those wide swings... I wouldn't be able to slow down with the momentum it creates." Erebus ashed on the ground, before speaking up again. "But, I guess you could say I'm classed a certain way. It makes a good weapon for you." It was true too, Steel was a great fit to his item of choice. Erebus however? Well, he was a rogue, rogues liked knives, and hammers weren't up to par with his tastes, as far as general things went. Still, that Mjolnir was a trophy, perhaps Erebus would question Steel on it's origins at a later time. It couldn't be anything shy of Unique rarity and he doubted it was just Unique, which begged some bigger questions. He'd save those thoughts for later, when it was more important.

He allowed his body to glide back sluggishly, til a tiny thud placed his back to the wall behind him. His index to middle finger pried the cigarette from his lips, and he exhaled a large plume. "So when do we leave? Also, I kind of feel the incentive is short for the dangers, is there anything I really get out of this besides the personal feat?" He kept it plain and to the point, but honestly, Erebus was willing to wager this was going to brandish him some kind of bandit. Further his bounty, and ultimately pay him for a B-rank mission when Erebus at the minimum A-list tier.

Steel

Having now donned the armor whilst listening to Erebus speak Steel pondered on it for a bit. Having this man who was powerful enough to take down Steel on his team would surely be a boon. Maybe he would be open to joining the guid that Steel was creating with the others that had been approached by Zagan within the confines of the dungeon. He had already agreed to help them by stealing the book from the king's castle so asking him to join their cause whatever that might be. Would probably be a good idea.

He fastened mjolnir to his belt. And then put on his gauntlets. He was once again back to being the large hulking armored mass that he had been before the fight. And then he spoke “Seeing as you are strong and want more than measly pay. Maybe you would care to join me and my allies in creating a guild? The guild would be a safe place for all of us who aim to not live by the laws set by society. Which might be even more useful to you than money.” He paused for a bit and then spoke again “What say you?”

Depending on the answer Steel would speak again “We leave right now.” then leave the house and go out onto the streets of Rush Valley. He would then leave for the capital of Fiore “Crocus.”

Erebus

Erebus thought over Steel's words, it was true he was now in the line of the law. Whereas he only ever wanted to help others and be paid fairly, as per his judgement, he was also hunted and the work seemed to be building up a pretty exhausting reputation. With the help of Steel and this so called guild he was forming, well... It could be a lot of help, where help is needed.

"Interesting." Erebus responded, never having been actually asked to join an organization before, he couldn't lie the idea boggled his sense. Erebus had always been under the interpretation, a guild was for mages. The reality of the situation was that Erebus was a magical weapon user, not a magician himself. So to be respected as strong comparatively caused Erebus to wash over with a feel good vibe, perhaps he had what it took after all. Perhaps, he could keep up with the best of them.

He tossed the cigarette to the dirty tattered ground, stepping upon it's emblazon. He nodded, checking for his dagger to be fastened, and when he felt it. His worries were at ease and he followed on with Steel keeping it relatively silent.
