These creations can be of anything the user desires, the only limit being the caster's imagination. Examples can include offensive options, such as weapons or objects being hurled at an opponent and defensive options such as walls or other monoliths. Skilled users can even use the ice to benefit themselves such as increasing their speed on the ice or other miscellaneous supplementary effects. The user can also emit light from her body or objects to temporarily blind her opponents leaving them vulnerable to her frigid assault. HISTORY History: Tori was born on the northern continent, high on a mountain. Throughout her childhood, her family owned a farm that grew a rare crop only found in high altitudes and would sell them to merchants from all around in order to make a living. During the day, she would help her father work in the fields and in the evening, she would help her mother in the kitchen. When she turned 14, she had accumulated quite a book collection and among them were books about magic. Brave wizards who fought monsters and demons for honor and glory, as well as fabulous prizes. She thought living such a life would be a dream come true. It wasn't until she was 16 that she discovered that the wizards from her books were real. There were really people out there who could use magic! She knew that one day she would find someone to teach her, but she had no idea it would be someone she already knew. One morning, not long after her seventeenth birthday, she went out for a walk before it was time to get started on chores. She just loved how peaceful the mountain was at dawn, but little did she know that it was this particular morning that would change her life forever. The silence was suddenly broken by a loud crash, which was unusual for the time of day. Running to see what happened, Tori found a large block of ice in the middle of a field and around it came walking her grandfather. Upon seeing her, he sighed in relief, as if waiting for this moment. In fact, he was waiting for this exact moment. "It's about time you found out." he said cheerfully, his excited tone of voice lost on his granddaughter, who still stood just dumbfounded. After waiting for her to compose herself, she started asking question after question, without giving him a chance to answer. He explained that he hadn't told her because her parents wanted her to take over the family farm, but he knew she was meant for more. He decided many years ago that he would come out to practice to hone his skills and one day Tori would find him one day and ask to to train her. After finally asking him, he decided to get started right away and just like that, Tori was learning magic. She woke up early every morning and her grandfather would teach her magic. It didn't take her long to pick up the basics and started teaching herself more advanced tactics. By the time she turned eighteen, she had even taught herself a couple of spells. Continuing to practice day in and day out, she waited until she had everything ready to leave home and when the time finally came, her parents were not pleased. But Tori had to do what was best for her. She loved her home and her family dearly, but when she really thought long and hard about it, farm life just wasn't for her. She wanted to be someone who everyone knew, not some farm girl. After assuring her parents that she would be back to visit soon, they reluctantly agreed to see her off, if for no other reason than so she wouldn't resent them once she was gone. She spent a few years just traveling around the country before she decided go farther. She ended up in Fiore and that's where her new life would begin. After some time roaming and meandering, she found herself on the doorstep of a certain guild. A guild that would become her new home...Fairy Tail. Over the years, Tori made friends and enemies and had a myriad of adventures all over Fiore. She helped people, hurt people, but always tried to do what was right. After one particularly humiliating defeat at the hands of the monster, Cell, she fell into a deep depression and began to distance herself from her comrades, and people in general. She began wandering; soul searching; unable to find her place in the world anymore. She began doubting herself and her abilities to the point where she started to believe she was nothing but a hindrance to her guild and the ones she loved, and that they would be better off without her. Without realizing, she ended up finding her way back home to the mountain farm where she was raised. Her parents welcomed her back with open arms and assured her that this was where she belonged. Hearing it stung, but she reluctantly believed it. As the time passed, she tended the crops and livestock, resenting every minute of it. She remembered fondly her time in Fairy Tail, and all the happenings that happened over the couple years she was there. Then suddenly it hit her, something her grandfather always told her: Never give up. She began training in the dead of night like she used to when she was a child. And eventually, she mastered it. She learned to be able to emit light from not only her body, but her ice as well. That was the sign she was looking for. She wasn't done learning and she could still fulfill her dreams. She approached her parents with the news the next morning, to find out that they knew what she was doing and were supportive of her dreams this time around, much as it was hard to accept for them. After a tearful farewell, she was off again, just like she was all those years ago. But there was a difference this time. She wasn't leaving home. She was coming home. To Magnolia. To Fairy Tail. |
