Yet again helping out the city guard seemed as a much more worthy endeavor than beating up the poor for merchants and so it was that Jolyne lightheartedly set out to go on her business. This quest was a much needed reprieve from the repetition of helping the ruling class keep it's money, the Lich felt as though her soul was growing dark from being used in such a way. This time when she spoke to Devon he seemed much more somber and began to detail the growing of a cult in Magnolia, not some harmless edgy one either but rather one that had direct negative impact upon the community. Her task was to seek out the source of the rumors and if there was validity to these rumblings or if it was just hot air concocted by bored youth. Lacking the time necessary alongside the manpower to allocate to such a task the captain had went to the guild where the Lich had picked up the assignment. It was a far lot more interesting, so the procedural nature did not grind so much on her bones as some of her other missions had. Instead it allowed her to take towards the task with a bit more zeal that welled up inside her whenever she believed she was acting in the protection of others.  Whilst it was more socializing, an act from which she normally averted herself when a directive was behind it, it was not as though she was trying to part others from their well earned coin but rather information that would help in the general safety of the community at large. Though she was rather suspicious to how many would ultimately just shrug her off and wondered at the overall effectiveness of various approaches before she would directly engage with anyone.

While it was said that one caught more flies with honey than vinegar, it was simply not true and within that lay what Jolyne Atreides was after. The general idea rather than what was actually true, the held belief that the majority shared due to idioms or what they heard from their nans or at the bar. The Lich pondered this as she wondered how to truly approach the various people on the street in order to achieve her goal of rooting out the rumors of this cult that was supposedly reaching out within the city itself. It should not be surprising considering the overall sorry state of the presence of the guild there. Jolyne was upset and disappointed with the guild which she joined in order to help out the world, so far it seemed as if she was in another extension of the Rune Knights and a worse one at that. It was not overall something that pleased her to dwell upon but it was not as fulfilling as she was hoping the experience would be, as it was lacking, it left her wanting more. Still she refocused on the task at hand and decided the best approach would be to act as if she was interested in joining the cult itself. Through that she could hopefully bait a hook that one of the members would attempt to take and lead her to more information. It was also completely possible she would look insane through this act but, that was a risk the shambling skeleton was willing to take in order to ensure the community was safe at large. Though her guild may have been sacked before she arrived, it was not in her character to ignore any fires that popped up when she was around no matter how large or imaginary they ended up being.

It did not work out well from the outset though that was par for what the Plant Mage had expected from this endeavor and strove to continue on with it despite the lack of results from the initial trio of attempts. If the first person she engaged with had information and fell for her charade it would either be cosmically lucky or they would have a much larger problem on their hands then they expected. Thus it was not hard to keep a positive mind about the task, if she had set her goals too high she would despair at most of her own failings rather than being able to try and address them the best she could. So it was when she met the fourth person and they opened up, the Lich was upon her A game and ready to spin a yarn that would convince the other woman to allow her into the information despite her outlandish looks. While it may have been a hard bill in some places, her appearance was not utterly bizarre within such a large city and so with her silver tongue Jolyne was able to convince the lady to part with information about the cult. The confirmation of such a thing was not exactly what she wanted, but The Shahbanu of Seedlings was eager to find out more about this group before reporting back to the Captain of the guard. Apparently the Lich would have to appear at a nearby shop after the fall of night and utter a phrase in order to learn more about the cult. While it was a tad bit of an annoyance the skull did not show it as she continued to listen to the other woman in order to ascertain the password. The phrase uttered was 'Illucifan Nagar', and it now became ingrained within the spirit of the Mage who was now to return later that night to uncover more about this threat.

Arriving at the unassuming store a couple hours after the sun had set, Jolyne reflected upon how appearances rarely belied the story of what they represented. The eyes truly reflected their own type of illusion upon the person regardless, but it was a nice thought experiment to keep her from dwelling upon the task at hand and burning herself out. Novelty was needed for the undead who favored that variety to keep the time fresh as it passed her by. Still it was a passing moment and refocusing upon the present she knocked upon the oaken door resulting in the portal being opened shortly after as she was ushered inside and lead to the back of the store immediately. It appeared as if the group was already informed about her, and with her appearance the Plant Mage was not shocked that they recognized her and brought her to the makeshift tunnel they had formed in the back right away. Though it was a bit faster than she expected, she had given the pass code so it all set her up to believe the actions without thinking much deeper on them. Instead she walked down the tunnel taking note of it's smooth man made walls, ceiling and floor as she descended into the belly of the beast. After all if this vessel was broken it would not be the worst thing and she could simply inhabit another after reforming at the source of herself, the vial which truly held her soul. A vial which she had stored long ago in an extremely safe place, but also a thing which could be summoned immediately to her side without regard to distance. It was a rather useful thing even if she did not completely remember how she came about to becoming a Lich.

Coming down into a cavern that opened up to a majestic view, the woman was taken aback by what she saw down here and grew much more concerned with the activities that would be displayed here. This did turn out to be a bit more serious than she had first taken, after all if they could construct something like this it had been active for longer than they thought and had more resources than they expected. As such when a man began questioning her with the same exact lines that the woman had used earlier in the day Jolyne should have expected the actions that followed but as it was she was caught unaware of the fact that her ruse had been seen through and had to run when a group suddenly began withdrawing weapons. She may not be the smartest tool in the shed, but she knew exactly what came after that and it was confirmed by the call for chase as she scrambled back up the tunnel with the cult members behind her. Thanks to her very distinct appearance the Lich was not looking forward to trying to duck the group behind her as she was not an Illusion Mage and could not disguise her skeletal nature with a simple costume change. The cries of spy soon grew distant once she hit the streets and was able to zig zag through alleys, her nature speed eventually giving herself enough of an edge over her pursuers to loose visual in the maze of the city. After confirming she had lost them the Plant Mage would return to the Captain of the guard where she would inform him about the severity of the cult. After collecting her reward, she would reflect upon the entire thing and grow a bit concerned.
