It was early in the evening when the silver-haired witch was seated on a bench at Hargeon square. Most would likely think it was insane for a wanted criminal to sit there in a public space like that, but it was necessary. Esperia had her reasons for doing this, and she could only hope that her letter would be read and taken into consideration.

How long had it been since she last saw her? Almost a year? The question idly lingered in Esperia's mind as the vampire girl swung her legs back and forth underneath the bench, looking more like a carefree teenager rather than the Disaster the government had made her out to be.

She needed to make sure, to find out if Alisa was still the same, the same noble soul she had always admired. She had heard rumors, and the lack of action from Blue Pegasus was concerning, but in the end it might had all been a misunderstanding. Perhaps she would be able to understand it all after they talked.

"Valerie... Hasani, I hope once all of this is over I will be able to keep my promise and bring you both a peaceful and happy future as a family."

But for now all she could do was wait.

"What in the...?", her eyes flared open as she caught sight of that letter, a handwritting she still recognized.

Now that was unexpected... It wasn't the first random letter Alisa had recieved from her, and after that day, her expectations regarding Esperia had grown lower and lower as her bounty grew higher. In the end, she knew the girl wasn't much of a liar. Had a bad habit of acting on impulse and making dumb decisions, but lying was thankfully not one of her faults. To think a disciple of hers had left to become a wanted criminal. That was defenitely something she couldn't forget about in a while, if ever.

Someone she raised as mage, in the end making a conscious decision to become someone she'd hate.

As that broiling turmoil of unresolved feelings jumbled around her head, the sculptress got ready for the meeting. Stepped off the shower, barely taking a single moment to dry off the water as it cascaded down her sinuous, shapely form, before taking the nearest white blouse and slipping her arms through the its sleeves, then a pair of tight, blue jeans, sitting high around the eye catching swell of her womanly hips. Casual and unassuming, not making it into any more than this was... She couldn't really imagine what exactly was Esperia doing here with that colossal bounty, but figured she'd see for herself once she stepped out of the guild hall and onto the streets, ready to meet her at the agreed upon place:

"Hmmmm... Now where the devils did she go to?", spoke the sculptress, idly musing to herself as she brought her hand up to her chin.

Even then, she still believed that her former pupil hadn't fallen so far as to get her somewhere public to use innocent people as hostages... No, odds were she was right there, in front of her eyes. She knew her description from bounty posters and all, but she'd since changed her appearance too many times to count. Not really surprising that she'd have changed it again before coming back to her former guild...

Esperia's eyes slowly gazed upwards as she saw the sculptress arrive, the sight briefly earning a smile from the silver-haired lass who waved a hand lightly at her. "Psst~ Over here Ali~"

Esperia chimed softly, making sure she had gotten noticed by Alisa after which she patted the spot on the bench beside her. "Don't worry, I picked this time of the night so that there won't be anyone to worry about. After all it would be troubling for you if you were seen conversing with me."

She smiled kindly, her legs still swaying lightly back and forth as she hummed softly. "Guilty of tax evasion by keeping pirate treasury to myself, well I actually invested it in an orphanage in Rush Valley rather than giving it back to the government... Assaulting troublemakers with a frying pan, which I only did to scare them away after they were harassing merchants. And finally guilty of public indecency by handholding with a pretty werewolf lady in a public park in Hosenka."

She paused for a bit and soon smiled sheepishly at her mentor. "I'm afraid I'm guilty of the last crime." She closed her eyes, taking a deep breath. "The government sure must have a lot of money to waste if they put such a high bounty on a little lewdling like me."

She turned toward Alisa, inquiring with curiosity in her voice. "No need to remain alert, I don't plan to resist, but will you at least hear me out first?"

"My my~... So you went and changed looks again hmm? How surprising~", even at first glance she could tell something looked radically different since the last time they'd seen each other, and she didn't just mean a new hairstyle. For the first time, she looked like something other than human. As she patted the spot beside her, Alisa walked up beside her, her smile not fading for even a moment even as she declared her intentions, "I assure you, there's no trouble at all. I'm here to arrest in a wanted criminal."

Intentions, however, went both ways... Just as she didn't plan on allowing a wanted dark mage from waltzing into Blue Pegasus' territory and going merrily on their way... She'd also not turn away a former pupil looking to talk:

"Ufufu~... Oh dear, those sound like utterly dreadful crimes. No wonder the government has it out for you hmm~?", teased the temptress with a witty smile, hand raising over her mouth as she giggled, her bountiful bosom jostling ever so softly, "How awfully like you~"

She did appreciate how the girl hadn't lost all of her brightness after all this, and didn't even doubt her words. Just like her guildmaster though, she seemed to end up thinking the ends justified the means. When Alisa finally sat down beisde her, her smile faded ever so softly as she rested her arm on the back of the bench, facing the young vampire as she spoke:

"You know sweetie, sometimes it's not about what you did, but how you did it.", she spoke, sighing as she finally took a seat, crossing those long, luscious legs, "You joined a guild that condones slavery. You might not have done any unspeakable deeds yourself, but... You joined a guild where many who did made their home."

She and Kon would never see eye to eye. At the end of the day, every time a big threat emerged, they always found themselves on the same side. Alisa respected that at least, that the the man woman always knew what needed to be done no matter how dark the path he walked. But the ends don't always justify the means, and that's what ultimately set the two apart.

"You do understand what this means right...? Anybody who might have wanted to put a stop to it, would have made an enemy out of you.", in the end, Esperia said something that surprised even her, brow arching as she needed a double take to understand what she meant, "What...? Well, by all means, I'm listening now, am I not?"

Esperia couldn't help but smile weakly at the remark spoken by Alisa. It was true that her appearance had changed remarkably ever since the incident. "Mhmm, I'm not sure how I look anymore. In all honesty: I did try to look in a mirror to ensure I'm presentable, but I don't have any reflection. But I swear I only been feeding on my girlfriend and donated blood bags! And even then I try to keep it to a minimal."

As if to explain her words she pulled out a small carton box that had a straw attached to it. A small magic seal could be seen on the lid of the box, seemingly to keep it sealed. "Uguu... to hear you say that doesn't make me happy."

It was fortunate that Alisa at least was willing to hear her out, the words that followed earning a playful giggle from Esperia. "Indeed! I bet they are simply jealous of the fact Priscilla only awoohs for me!"

Still, Esperia's smile wavered slightly as Alisa started to express her opinion on her former pupil's choices. She thought carefully on the matter, nodding her head lightly.

"I agree, slavery shouldn't be condoned, nor the tolerance for evil." It was true, despite the fact that the Sentinel Syndicate was the closest in terms of accomplishing what she desired, it went about it the wrong way.

"But at the very least they tried to contain that evil, keep it to a minimum. Just take a look at the situation within Fiore Ali: The Rune Knights, the very people who are supposed to protect the peace within the kingdom are suffering from corruption within. People abusing their power and authority and there is none who is trying to stop them."

She paused for a bit, her smile fading away entirely as she continued. "What about the light guilds? Where was Blue Pegasus when Penumbral Guard got annihilated, or Fairy Tail got massacred. Don't get me wrong, I'm not blaming you for I experienced first-hand that we can't protect or save everyone. You're the Guild Master of Blue Pegasus, the people of Hargeon rely on you, but what about the people beyond the city? What about those that are outside your circle of loved ones?"

She went quiet for a moment, and if Alisa looked closely she would notice a thin trail of blood leaking down from the corner of Esperia's eyes. "When the Eternal Nightmare conquered Fia's hometown without any resistance I felt something... a sadness that I couldn't ignore. Even as others turn a blind eye toward the festering evil of such people, I couldn't... I wouldn't."

She closed her eyes and took a deep breath. "I want to protect those dear to me, to help those that rely on me. But at the same time I can't remain ignorant to those who are too weak to help themselves. Whether it's corrupt Rune Knights harassing people or dark guilds running amock, someone has to remind them that evil has no place here. They should be terrified of getting noticed, rather than being able to run around without anyone trying to oppose them"

Esperia shook her head as she continued. "I believe with my departure from the syndicate it will be dissolving afterwards. But it doesn't change the fact that the threat of the darkness is still there, right?" She opened her eyes and looked right into Alisa's own expression. "After I get judged for my crimes, well as long as they don't try to chop off my head... I want to try to put a stop to this... to this era where the darkness festers and evil is able to act unrestrained. I will hunt them down, but by myself I am not strong enough to stop them all."

And then it came: "Ali, will you please help me put an end to this evil? I know that raiding Eternal Nightmare will put you and the people of Blue Pegasus at risk, just like it would do the same to me but surely you're not willing to let them continue this either, right?"

She raised a finger to her own lips and smiled weakly at her. "At the very least my bounty should be a nice incentive to help you arm your guild for the task. Last I checked the wanted posters got over 3 million, but the portrait didn't do me justice, and the title was lackluster~"

Alisa's sigh became almost a groan as she heard that tried and tested, amost clichéd line by this point... She brought a head up to her forehead, almost exhasperated to hear it once again, partly musing if she'd always been unable to see beyond that notion, or just clung to it to justify her choices:

"If I had a jewel for every single time I heard that line... Because the Rune Knights are corrupt, you become worse than them?", she all but scolded her, knowing fully well that if everybody reacted as she did, then it should come as no surprise that the Rune Knights are corrupt. They are, at the end of the day, just citizens of Fiore like the rest of them, "When the news reached us, the damage had already been done, and the culprits gone with the wind. Tell me then, would you go off on a flight of fancy, or would you protect your home with all your might?"

She frowned, almost glared even, a hateful look in her eyes that was obviously not directed at Esperia... This wasn't something she wanted to accept, let alone tolerate. Alisa all but gripped at the back of the bench, her brow twitching as she once again swallowed that unpleasant reality. To go off seeking vengeance and leaving her city unprotected would inevitably invite a similar calamity:

"When was the last time you heard of raids or attacks in Hargeon? Do you really think we accomplished by running around the land chasing villains? No, it's because they won't dare raid any place that's adequately protected."

Yet another sigh left her lips, her sizeable bust rising and falling as she tucked a loose black lock behind her ear... Truly, the raids and massacres infuriated even her... But Alisa's priorities had changed when took the reins of the guild, easily evidenced by the strictness of her retort:

"So do tell me... If I do out and raid Eternal Nightmare... Who I wonder, will watch over Hargeon while I'm gone hmm? When a light mage finds an unguarded dark guild, they'd level it to the ground. When a dark mage finds an unguarded light guild, they'll slaughter every living soul on sight, not to mention what they'd do to the city.", one by one the sculptress pointed out the glaring weaknesses in her plan, an imbalance that Esperia seemed to have forgotten when you try to fight fire with fire. Light mages have something to protect... Dark mages have no such qualms, nor any real regard for what happened to ordinary people, "And more importantly... Once you're done raiding them, how do you propose to stop them from rebuilding? Unless you have a foothold in the region, you have no say in what happens there."

Guild raids were a bad idea... In her mind, an utterly moronic one. But she offered an alternative. An option she'd always favoured throughout her life as a huntress:

"Never forget that whenever you go to war, the people you're trying to protect often end up suffering the most. If you want to stop this evil, then... Take out their leaders.", this was, in the end, about as close to a yes as Alisa narrowed her eyes, holding that vibrant ruby gaze as she laid out her terms, "Prove to me that you actually have a plan. That you're not so blinded by your ideals you'd forget about everything all around you. No more rash decisions or thoughtless attacks."

On the other hand, if Esperia accepted her conditions, she was more than ready to ensure she didn't get her head chopped off. That bounty money should indeed come in handy, but for the most part, money wasn't really a problem for Blue Pegasus:

"I suppose since you're surrendering without a fight, I can encourage the judges to show clemency~", she spoke at last, her smile slowly drawing back on her luscious lips as she chuckled

It was difficult for her to hear those words from Alisa. Was she worse than the corrupt knights, merely because of her association with the Sentinel Syndicate? She wasn't sure, but considering her respect for Alisa it were words she took into consideration. However, when Alisa mentioned about the news reaching them too late, the question of whether she would be willing to go on a quest for vengeance, or rather consider protecting her home and loved ones with all her might made Esperia ponder quietly about it.

It made her think about Valerie and Hasani, her desire to protect them, to build a future with her new family was strong, yet was it enough for her to allow evil to continue their actions?

"It's true, because Hargeon is constantly protected evil doesn't dare to come here. But what about those beyond Hargeon? Unless we were to find a means to protect each and every region there will be innocent people suffering.

Esperia raised a hand to her cheek, thinking carefully on the matter. While it was true that she had been blinded by her desire for revenge, she also cared too much about the common people to allow her quest to make them suffer.

"Hmm, to hunt down their leaders... It's true that if I were to do that, the lack of leadership would cause them to become dormant."

Esperia paused for a bit, pondering for a few. "Then again, Fiore is big, and yet at the same time there are a collective of guilds who claim they fight for the greater good. If they were to band together and only hunt the evil within their territory, then wouldn't that make them able to defend their home at the same time? But that requires intensive collaboration between guilds."

Esperia smiled weakly at Alisa's words, the mentioning of judges making her smile weakly. "I hope you can at least lend me a defense attorney, considering that I doubt the syndicate will like the fact that I'm abandoning them."

Alisa knew from experience after all, that had been her life when she first on her career as a mage for hire, before joining Blue Pegasus. Hell, even after she joined, really... But after she became guildmaster, and especially after she got married. It changes people... From that moment you stop living your life for your ideals and start living them for the people you love. No more than a natural part of growing up, really. Truly, the people outside of Hargeon were just as worthy of protection as all others... At the same time, if protecting people far away meant exposing those under your watch, then the choice was clear:

"Indeed... But it can never come at the expense of those who put their faith in you specifically, as the protectors of their city.", she spoke, pointing out one particular responsibility she'd obviously forgotten about, something that Guild Masters kept in mind at all times... Yes, even the masters of some dark guilds, the rare few with some semblance of concern for their people.

The South had accepted Blue Pegasus as their protectors. In many ways, that protection couldn't really stretch to other regions. Even a guild as powerful as theirs lacked the resources and influence to have much say in what went on in other regions. Projecting power only went so far... But if they captured the worst offenders, the aura of strength and impunity around them would crumble. For many criminals, the sight of a high bounty holder walking around inspired them more than anything else. If they took them down, they'd weaken those guilds without putting the people at risk:

"My sister will tell you the same thing I told you. She has her guild, and her children to look after.", spoke the sculptress, sternly, knowing her sister too well to understand she'd never abandon her watch over her city to go out hunting. But in the end, Alisa cupped her chin regardless, "But... We do need that alliance to happen."

It had been in the works for some time now, with the odd talk of it here and there between her and her sister... Though the two of them were natural allies, she knew Kurisa would never back any wars, and quite frankly, neither would Alisa. Whatever alliance they could make would be strictly defensive, as it should be:

"If nothing else, than for no reason other than to ensure what happened before never happens again. If we help protect each other's regions, that alone could make a bigger difference than you imagine. Between all the light guilds, we can protect the East and the South. If the Syndicate dissolves, you could secure the north. Which only leaves the east in the hands of Dark Mages.", Alisa couldn't really blame her for her worries... Bad enough to find yourself at odds with justice, but the mere act of turning away will put you at odds with your own former allies. But if she truly meant to make up for her mistakes, Alisa owed her at least that much. Esperia had done a lot of good for the country before she turned away from it, "Ufufu~... You've been well behaved so far. Keep that up by the time I turn you to the knights, and you'll have the best lawyer money can hire."

In the end, Alisa sighed. They could still talk along the way of course, but at this point, she didn't see much that hadn't already been said. Standing up from her seat, Alisa ran her hands down her curvaceous figure, smoothing out the kinks and creases in her shirt and jeans before turning around to Esperia:

"Now, get up... Time to be an adult and take responsibility for your actions.", clenching her fist, Alisa produced a crystalline chain in her left hand, waiting for her pupil turned prisoner to present her hands, whereupon she'd calmly bind them with a crystalline chain, before leading her away to the nearest Rune Knight station.

She knew someone as strong as Esperia could probably break out of a binding spell like this, without much effort. But if she truly meant to surrender, then breaking her cuffs would send all kinds of wrong messages.

Esperia blinked in bewilderment as Alisa conjured a pair of crystaline chains, making Esperia sigh softly as she rose onto her feet, presenting both her hands to the sculptress. "I had my suspicions, but I didn't know you were into bondage Ali~" Esperia chimed with a teasing poke of her tongue while at the same time she pulled out a small ball of bandages, wrapping them around her left prostethic as she explained further. "My left arm nullifies magic, but it needs to make contact for that, so by wrapping those bandages your chains should be able to remain."

Having given her explanation as Alisa started to handcuff her, the silver-haired vampire mused softly. "P-Please be gentle Ali~" Esperia spoke in a soft voice filled with faux bashfullness as the chains connected her hands in front of her like handcuffs and soon she was being escorted toward the nearest Rune Knight station.

She could only hope that her plan would work. After all, way too much of it relied on other people, and after she was handed over to the Rune Knights, who seemed genuinely surprised at the fact Alisa had brought in a Disaster who willingly surrendered without signs of a struggle. Despite the concern that lingered in the back of her mind Esperia tried her best to smile playfully, giving Alisa a final choice of words of parting.

"Tell the others I said hi~"
