"Oh, hello there," Atani smiled at the creature as it poked its head out of the sack of bounty she had retrieved from the boat. It appeared to be some sort of lemur with adorably oversized ears. "I didn't know I had a stowaway here."
The lemur began to crawl out of the sack onto the elf's arm. She giggled as its little feet tickled her bare skin. It must have fallen asleep in the sack which was why she didn't notice it wriggling around before.
"Come on, you've gotta go back to your owner." She shrugged her shoulder to try and let the lemur know it had to leave. It leapt from her shoulder, but much to her surprise, it spread its arms to reveal that it could glide like a flying squirrel. It circled back around and perched on her shoulder. "Whoa, I didn't know you could fly!"
Perhaps the right term was glide, but that didn't matter. The lemur just looked at her clueless with its wide green eyes. "Right, you probably can't understand a word I'm saying." But that was fine. One way or another, she would return the flying lemur to its original owner. Upon taking a better look at the lemur, it seemed it was malnourished to a degree. Most likely, it didn't even belong to the pirates. Even the most nasty of scoundrels didn't usually let their pets starve like that. It was even a stereotype for them to keep some sort of monkey or bird aboard.
