Trapped in a sunny new place, Raeburn's not yet ready to commit fun crimes. Era doesn't allow much crime, hence it being boring, but Raeburn's thinking of joining the Rune Knights for a bit anyway. Wearing a black oni mask and cloak, all Raeburn's looking for walking the streets is to professionally waste time. There's always a way to make more money and Raeburn's going to have to waste some time to make a pittance. Testing his patience for manual labor, which all low-rank quests are, Raeburn's been gathering various info in the area.

Walking without knowing where he's going, the day's task will spawn soon probably. The amusing part of being a mage, you can find something magical to do usually whenever you want. The preference of Raeburn's to steal jewels rather than work for them usually. Leeching off others for direction is good for the purpose of finding one's way around. The old man's gotten a bit lost. There's all sorts of entertaining magic shows around Era, maybe someone has a sensing spell. Any magic show without dark magic is too generic though. Following some crowds, Raeburn begins to listen to see if he can find his way to something more interesting than being lost. Hearing happy people talk about a cursed child makes Raeburn immediately creeped out by this place. Why does a military stronghold have cursed children? Raeburn thought this place was safe man. All the corners of the world really gotta have some weird shit nowadays.

Groaning, Raeburn figures he'll go drink his sorrows away. Looking at the buildings around, there's no admiration from Raeburn for the architecture. Blowing stuff up is so much fun, yet Raeburn isn't allowed to do so right now. A military stronghold doesn't seem cultured enough to keep Raeburn around. Finding a fancy bar, Raeburn figures he'll be able to calm down his destructive urges there too. Any place can become fancy, but Raeburn has a good feeling he'll have a quiet day going to this bar. Walking inside the bar, the old man fishes out a pink straw magically from his cloak.

Inserting a straw into his mask-hole, Raeburn heard more talk of the cursed child before coming in. At least Raeburn remembered to bring his straw, his current mask isn't good for drinking in public. SIGH, asking the pedestrians in the bar about the child, Raeburn hopes someone doesn't steal his task he's now decided to do. Crunching on his straw, Raeburn looked deeply insane, so nobody felt like telling him a cool story bro. Finally, service tends to arrive, as Raeburn goes to lay down on a table. When someone suspiciously dressed like Raeburn's on a table, you simply accept it. Old men passing out on tables is a sight to appreciate. Maybe Raeburn's already drunk, and that's okay. A fluffy man emerges, called Gaud, and the guy looks like he wants to bring bad scammy news. Is it that Gaud's the god and not Raeburn? Where's the waiter? What is this?

Hearing some more news about a cursed child, Raeburn begins to accept his destiny. The fluffy man says the cursed child can kill anyone in a dark corner. Ah, this is how Raeburn shall die. The ball of death coming down on Raeburn by children is an amusing prospect. Thinking seriously, cursed children should be cleansed from the Earth-land-thing for Illumin. How do you REALLY handle a serial killer child in a magical world? Exterminating a child for a good quest sounds comical, reputation-reducing, and tots necessary in Raeburn's opinion. Isn't beating up strong children before they become godly fun? Sobering up a bit, Raeburn listens closely to the fluffy Gaud man who owns this bar maybe.

Apparently, the next checkpoint isn't at the bar. Somewhere out in this cursed city there's a living plague Raeburn must visit. Gaud wants Raeburn to go assassinate the child too, uh, that doesn't seem very legal. Nothing wrong with fantasizing bro, you can't just take the future away from Illumin like that though. Gaud might have had a special relationship with someone infected, yet Raeburn doesn't simply kill children on the orders of others. Hearing that he'll get some monies, Raeburn flops up off a table and leaves the bar! One might think Raeburn should be more fearful for his life when he lacks magic. Magic isn't the coolest thing though, there's all sorts of non-magical and non-violet solutions. It'd be funny if the child kills itself with some other mage so Raeburn doesn't need to do any work.

A true supporter of dark justice, Raeburn doesn't like fighting directly, support is such a cleaner role. Wherever his targets might be, it's time to go clean them up. If they're bloodstains on the floor, they ought to be slurped up. Strolling along the streets to some evil house, Raeburn's also armed with the knowledge that the RK should of cleaned this shit up ages ago. Maybe the Rune Knights spawned the evil killer children, or want to go recruit them. Holding a piece of paper with the location of the infected man, Raeburn squints. Where is that supposed to be? Does Raeburn look like a Rune Knight, how's he supposed to know Era's houses? If you live in Era, aren't you in a Rune Knight's family anyway? It's sad there's some shady stuff going on for the faithful fodder. Poking a Rune Knight's ass on the streets, Raeburn is told gently where the fuck he's supposed to go eventually. Man, can't these evil knights do the work themselves?

The outside of the house doesn't look inviting. Skipping over to a window, Raeburn stands there MENACINGLY, and stares at the person inside. Reaching downward, Raeburn locks eyes with the person. What kind of fun can a guy at his house do when he's infected anyway? Aren't non-mages just farmers? Asserting dominance, Raeburn stands at the window until the guy finally opens the door. Looking at the guy's face, Raeburn stays outside the house and remains at the window.

At this point, the guy is getting kind of freaked out and wonders if he's getting cursed again. Half of the infection has made the guy's face ugly or more beautiful, Raeburn can't tell, yet Raeburn's older than the guy so he doesn't care. Keeping his distance, the old man isn't that scared of getting infected himself, the quest doesn't have that much pre-set risk and afflictions can be nulled anyway. Negating healing doesn't necessarily negate negating. Twitching his face underneath his mask, Raeburn isn't sure he can get anymore ugly than he already is.

Snapping away from the infected guy, Raeburn listened to whatever he had to fearfully say, and now it's time to depart. Apparently the guy's poor and had nothing that Raeburn could steal. Looking inside for a long time, nothing looked valuable inside. Figuring Raeburn is some creepy cop or a cursed black apparition, the man spilled everything. The weirdo infected visited an orphanage and the children took vengeance on him or something. Fearing for the children, the creepy man wants to make sure other children don't get harmed for some reason. Eh, the other children might be dead already right? Sucks to suck. At some point, the guy realized Raeburn is thankfully not going to harm him and tells Raeburn where the orphanage is. As much fun as escalation is, Raeburn doesn't intend on following up on the quest. Gathering info is risk-free, and hopefully the cursed child can roam freely to mess with people's happiness.
