Twas another night in the town of Oak and Shichiro would be found at his room in a Tavern and Inn preparing his equipment for another excursion into the catacombs beneath the church. Tonight, it would be two of them going in. One would think it would be him and his cousin but it turns out, it wasn't. It would be him and Seika this time around seeing as he couldn't locate his cousin anywhere. He had heard he was on a different assignment so he wouldn't be able to reach him for quite some time. Still, he had a partner nonetheless and would make due. If he remembers correctly, his partner utilized fire magic in order to deal with him which was perfect for this sort of task.

Today, he'd meet up with an important client in order to get the mission details from them and the specifics of the objectives. After putting on his Hood, Cuirass and Shield. He was ready to go and meet up with Seika at Oakland church. Though he was ready, he was unsure if his companion was. Turning his head to look at his companion, it seems he had also got ready for the request ahead of them. Lily had just finished fastening his sword to his back before hopping down off the bed it was resting in, climbing up Shichiro's body and resting on his right shoulder. With that Shichiro left the Inn and began to head towards the church in order to meet up with Seika and the client.

Blinking away the crust Seika couldn't believe he was still in Oak. It really was impossible to leave this damn city, no matter how much he tried, no matter how far he got. He just always ended up back here. It was actually getting annoying to the tall religious man. How was he to spread Sol's majesty when he couldn't even leave to spread the word. These heathens in Oak didn't deserve salvation. They deserved damnation, and while he was more than willing to burn them all, now wasn't the time. He couldn't spread the gospel with a bounty on his head after all.

Frowning then, he would arise simply, his body lifting off the mattress with little fanfare. He was already dressed in his overalls and black shirt. It was one of the few benefits of having a simple wardrobe, everything he owned and everything he wore could be interchanged as outside clothing and sleep clothing. Leaving the barracks after a few moments, he looked over towards the looming chapel, the dilapidated structure just sitting there mocking his existence. He really couldn't stand the monument to Illumin, nor the butchered gothic look that the locals had given it. It was almost like someone had taken a bad joke and then made it worse just to fuck with him. Stuffing his irritation down his throat, he'd walk towards the structure, hoping that tonight's excursion underneath the building would be just as easy as the last few times he had been down there.

Walking through the town of Oak, Shichiro made his way towards the church located near the center of the town. With Panther lily in tow, he figured it wouldn't be too bad losing a member of the squad with Panther Lily filling in for him. Speaking of Panther Lily, for once he decided to communicate with his partner. "So, where are we going this time Captain," Panther lily had asked him. Placing his hands into his pockets, Shichiro responded with "Oh, today we're going to the church to meet up with a client and one of my knights. We're to go down into the catacombs of Oak and clear out the monsters infesting the area. My cousin isn't showing up for reasons so I figured I'd take you along this time in order to help out with that sword of yours."

Panther Lily just shrugged and remained silent for the remainder of the trip, as they headed towards the church. Arriving at the church. He'd meet up with Seika, if he was already there, in order to go see the important client. Traversing through the courtyard of the church, Shichiro pushed open the double doors of the church, heading inside in order to search for their client. Inside of the church, it remained the same as list time with rows of long, wooden benches and a large podium up on a stage in front of them. Giving a little sigh, Shichiro had always felt somewhat uncomfortable being in here but alas, he had a job to do so he'd have to suck it up and carry it out.

His walk towards the looming structure had been relatively uneventful, the disparate masses of the city gave him a wide berth as usual. He couldn't tell if it was because of his rather large frame, or just the imposing image he gave off. His body was wreathed in an ever present cloak of heat warding off the chill that seemed to pervade the city constantly. His burning orange eyes observed the meek souls that passed by him with a level of disregard that it was almost as if he were glancing through their hunched frames. Their necks almost snapping in order to look towards the ground instead of towards the radiant man. Frowning in disgust at such weakness, he would arrive at the church just as Shichiro had walked inside. Seeing that they would be meeting in the church and not at the church, he would head inside as well, pushing past the dilapidated gate to head into the still fucked up grounds of the church. One day he would burn down all these weeds, and well he would burn down the heretical church too but that was neither here nor there. Walking inside, he would see Shichiro walk down the aisle quietly, seemingly looking for someone. Seika wasn't too privy to the details of their mission this time, just knowing that it was vaguely the same as all the other times that they had come into the catacombs. He actually hoped they were fighting something this time because he had some new spells he needed to work the kinks out of.

Now that they were both inside it was time to meet the client. With his hands both still in his pockets, Shichiro turned his head left then right then back to his left again as he walked down the aisle. Despite the church being smaller than average, it seems he could never spot the creepy priest or priests before he was aware of their presence. Finally, when he made it to the front of the podium, a man had addressed him, beckoning both Shichiro and Seika to come over. This man was currently sitting down on one of the benches, grinning from ear to ear. Dressed a bit differently from normal priests, this one signified he was of higher rank the the normal clients he had usually met up with. While this appeared to be true, it seems he was younger, a lot younger, than most priests. if Shichiro didn't know any better, he'd assume they were around the same age.

Casting those thoughts aside, he figured how this guy got to his standing was of little consequence to him. Apparently, the priest had picked up on Shichiro's confusion through his facial expression. "Oh, I know what you're thinking. I look a little young to be a Bishop, huh? Well Shichiro, are you a little young to be a Kingsguard, don't worry it's only a little joke. Now then whenever you're both ready to hear the mission objectives let me know'' the bishop had jest, chuckling to himself. Shichiro couldn't argue with that one, as he reached the back of his neck in order to scratch it nervously.

Catching up to his superior, he also turned as the young man who claimed to be a bishop spoke. An eyebrow cocking as the young man seemed to be as vague yet straightforward as possible. As much of an oxymoron as the rest of the hypocritical and heretical church that he represented. He had to hold back his instinctual need to burn every face of this sect on the church. He couldn't however, stop his eyes from glowing brightly in the night as his magical energy surged through his body upon laying eyes on the rather relaxed individual. He could tell this young man wasn't even the slightest bit concerned, and why would he be, he was sanctified by that fool Illumin. Well that and Seika was quite certain that his superior would have more than just crass words for him if he attacked a member of the church right here in the middle of the man's turf. Calming himself of his anger, he mere continued to stand there quietly, even as the Bishop seemed to notice the spike in presence that the taller soldier. Turning to regard him quietly, he could see the small bit of confusion cross the Bishop's face. No doubt he was contemplating what could've caused such a reaction from Seika and no doubt all of his guesses were wrong. None of these fools even remotely considered that what they were doing was heretical, why would they. They were blessed by Illumin after all.

The Bishop had indeed made note of the intense presence from Seika, which only served to make him tilt his head and grin a bit wider. This also caused Shichiro to turn towards Seika, wondering what his deal was releasing so much bloodlust like that, sighing a bit and telling the Bishop they were ready to hear the details of the request they were going on. The bishop had then turned his attention back towards Shichiro. "Well then, that was an experience, wouldn't you agree with Shichiro? Now then, onto the mission briefing, last time the local priest had sent you on a task to dispatch out these creatures we like to call Droags. They're quite rare in their appearance so we had originally thought there was one. It turns out there was another that we let accidentally slip and escape. it turns out, it didn't even stay into the town to terrorize the citizens."

"We've learned it has slipped away into the outskirts into the hills of Oak. We've tracked it down and found out it has taken up residence in a nearby cave. Seems to have noticed taking on life, human prey was far too dangerous and decided to strengthen itself and its army by feeding on the local wildlife. So the job is to take out Droag itself and any undead looking animals you might encounter. Don't worry about the hell spawns too much as we can get our temple knights to do the grunt work. Your jobs is to focus on the Droag itself."

Seeing the look his commanding officer give him stifled a good deal of his blood lust and irritation. He knew how to keep himself in check, it was just that the church always brought the absolute worst out in him. He just couldn't stand the sight of any of them.

As the two men would turn back to talking with each other, Seika would listen in as the bishop would detail their mission. Apparently the Droag's that they had been tasked with previously had escaped the fire that he had set in the catacombs, a pity. Along with this was the fact that not only had the Droag's escaped but the church in all of their incompetency and worthlessness couldn't be assed to actually kill the stragglers and allowed them to propagate and grow stronger in the process. His hand clenched itself into a fist, his fury growing as his emotional state seemed to be far more out of whack than usual. He himself couldn't understand his deteriorating emotional state, usually he was far more in control than this, but currently he just couldn't fathom how stupid this whole situation was. Maybe it was just that he had forgotten how incompetent these lot were, or maybe he ignored how like snakes, they could only slither and hide until it was most opportune to strike. In either case, his patience would only last up until the end of the Bishop's request before Seika finally let his thoughts be known, "Do you heretical lot know no shame. Your incompetence in managing even the most basic of situations never ceases to amaze me". His anger was palpable but was also what most would consider a quandary of it's own. Why indeed was he so mad?

Nodding at the words of the Bishop, Shichiro was clear on what they'd have to do in order to complete the mission. Now the current, minor problem would lay with Seika and his hate for the church. He figured it was none of his business but getting the client riled up wasn't in their best interest at the moment. After all, currently the church is the one paying their bills. The bishop had then turned his head towards Seika, wearing a poker face instead of his wide grin. "Heretical? Whatever do you mean, mr knight? I am a devout follower of the church and even rose to the rank of Bishop, how could one such as I be a heretic," the bishop had asked, filled with confusion. Shichiro had also been quite confused as he wasn't sure what was going on but as introverted as he was, even he knew this would lead to a bad situation.

Before Seika could answer the question in whatever way he wished too, Shichiro had cut in front with a loud, "OKAY!! I think we've heard all we need to today, let's be off Seika. We've got a job to do!" Walking over towards Seika, he positioned himself on one side of him in order to wrap his left arm around his shoulders to lead them both out of the church leaving the bishop quite confused about what that exchange was about. As they left the church, Shichiro wondered what the hell was that all about and figured he ask on the way to their destination.

Seeing the confusion on the Bishop's face only riled Seika up more. The fool didn't even realize he was sinning, he didn't even know. It was the same here as everywhere else. They were all just sheep being lead along by the nose. His frustration was reaching a peak when Shichiro jumped in between the two, stopping Seika before he could utter another word in response to the clueless Bishop. His scowl at being interrupted wouldn't be enough to cow his superior but he understood that he had overstepped his bounds and stepped back to fall back into place. Now wasn't the time and this was not the place, at least currently. But oh boy would he be back, with more than a few choice words for the Bishop.

Allowing himself to be led away by his clearly perturbed and rather embarrassed superior, Seika regarded the young man quietly before cursing at himself on the inside. That had been so out of character for who he had been since he had arrived and to just flip the script so suddenly was almost scary. He hadn't done something like this in what was truly a very long time. Allowing the quiet to overtake the both of them, Seika retreated to his own quiet contemplation, looking over the interaction to see where it went wrong and how to prevent such a reaction from happening again, at least in the view of others. He could care less about the Bishop, but Shichiro had been nothing but a good superior officer ever since he had met the man, so it was only right that he leave the man with a good impression.

Now that the two of them were away from the Bishop and out of the church, Shichiro let out a sigh of relief before taking his arm off of Seika's arm. Pausing briefly, he decided to ask Seika a question. "Huh, so what was that all about anyway," Shichiro inquired. He wasn't going to reprimand him for it since his business was his own anyway but he'd hope for some kind of insight on the matter. After a brief pause, Shichiro had continued to walk towards the town's entrance in order to leave the town and begin their little excursion. Walking around the walls of Oak, Shichiro had to find a hidden trail up the hills in order to get to the cave of where the Bishop had told them the creature was last sighted.

According to the report received from the bishop, it had taken residence there in order to feed on the local wildlife. It seems the reports were true as a few undead creatures came out to attack the trio. An undead wolf, rabbit and deer had come out and began to menacingly growl at the three. Shichro began to crack his knuckles though he didn't really plan on touching the putrid looking things. Inside he'd begin to channel mana into his hands in order to conjure a bolt of arcane magic to throw at them. Simultaneously all three of the undead animals had jumped away in different directions, evading the attack. This was a bit annoying as they were all still as fast as they were in life.

Blinking as they left the church, he had expected the question but it still somehow surprised him that Shichiro would ask it. While the young man had been shown to be rather nonchalant, almost to the point of minding his own business unless it was directly involved with his job, he also seemed to care just a tad bit about his subordinates. Interesting. Frowning at this revelation, Seika would shrug his shoulders casually before stuffing his hands into his jumpsuit pockets. No point in lying now, not like his commanding officer would care about his own religious issues. "The Illumin religion isn't as whole as you'd like to think. There are differences between my sect and those who claim Illumin as the one true. And those differences have spark some... animosity at times. I had just forgotten that the sect that exists primarily in Fiore hasn't encountered others of the faith before. So their ignorance of their heresy irritates me. I'll try and not let it be a problem in the future Ser". With that he fell into step behind his commanding officer. The explanation had been short and sweet and filled with all of the relevant information that the man would need to know. Religious issues were almost never as nice or cut and dry as most of the masses tried to make them out to be.

They would come across some of the creatures that had been turned by the Droag and the sight of them caused Seika to click his teeth in irritation. Following Shichiro's lead, he'd pull back on his right hand, holding it in position by his ear as a magic seal appeared next to his face before an arrow made of super condensed fire magic appeared. Taking aim, Seika would begin firing bolts at the fast moving animals, taking care to maintain his distance so that he wasn't swarmed.

Thinking about what Seika said, Shichiro had come to realize, he didn't know much about religion. He was never opened up to the subject on it considering his upbringing and past professions. It wouldn't serve him well to have such things hampering his work in the field. All he could gather was there was some sort of strange divide among the people who worship the same god which was a foreign concept to him. It didn't seem like a traditional faction's inner squabbles where people's alignments and issues simply change and disappear. No, maybe it was something else like different teachings passed down from region to region if not the world.

Pushing his thoughts aside, he figured he'd ponder on this matter more later as he was currently in combat with some of the turned creatures of the forest. He had missed his initial shot and decided it was best for him to let his companion handle it. His partner also began to fire searing fire arrows at the creatures as well in order to lay down covering fire. He was glad it wasn't anything widespread so they didn't burn down the hills of Oak with all the trees scattered around but it would probably do some damage to the undead creatures.

Shichiro decided he would do the same and continue to hurl arcane bolts at the creatures while sending his companion in to finish them off once Lily got into position. After a few moments, with the combined efforts of Shichiro and Seika,  Lily had found the openings he was looking for, dispatching all three of the creatures before they had made it to the cave entrance.

The snarls of the beasts filled his ears as his hands seemed to move with a quickness and a level of precision not normally seen from him. His eyes darting from left to right in an effort to pinpoint and lock down the monsters that were trying to consume him. He knew that he was playing rear guard support on this mission, just ensuring that the beasts couldn't get to his superior or the strange creature he had brought with him, but that didn't mean that he didn't try his hardest to take them out as well with his own efforts. Pivoting on his right leg, he dropped to one knee to aim towards the air, right arm pulled back as a magic circle appeared in front of his bow which had been pointed skyward. The arrow he released flew through the magic seal before splitting up until eight other arrows that all arced through the air majestically. All eight arrows would then land around the three beasts, corralling them just enough for Shichiro's companion to land the killing blow to the beasts.

Breathing out in release, the man would stand up from his knelt position and follow Shichiro into the cave. Coughing to clear his lungs, he'd pull back on his right hand to immediately 'knock' an arrow in his hand. Keeping his wits about him, it would only take him a few minutes to realize that the Droag hadn't had the foresight to have more guards, rather the ones that had greeted them outside were it. And so when they stepped into the cavern that held the beast, and it was fully illuminated by Seika's prominently glowing arrow, Seika would take aim at the creature without haste. "I think they understated just how weak this thing was. How did it even get here?"

His observation wasn't too far off. Near the back of the cave sat the creature. It was seemingly missing the entire bottom half of it's body leaving it slumped against the wall. However the fact that it was so immobile yet it had still captured a wolf and several other creatures only alerted Seika to even more danger. These things were evolving. "This is going to be a problem isn't it Ser"?

After their encounter with the undead woodland creatures, Shichiro recalled his companion back towards him, having Panther Lily return to the left shoulder. Perching itself between his shield and Shichiro's neck, Panther Lily stayed on standby should anything else seemingly pop up. Making their way towards the cave. It seems they didn't have much of anything else in the way of opposition when it comes to continuing their task. He'd then head up towards the cave with Seika, rumored to be the current den of the droag creature they were hunting. Making their way into the cave, Shichiro and Seika had spotted the thing already seemingly half dead. Seika had then asked if this would be a problem to which SHiro would respond with a simple, "Nah."

Raising his right arm, outstretching it towards the creature itself he decided it was best to get this over with as quickly as possible. Gathering mana into the palm of his arms, he'd make a concentrated arcane ball and just fired it at the droag. If Seika fired any spells at the creature, he'd just lower his arm. If not, then he fire a second one just to be safe. Afterwards, Shichiro watched as his spell exploded upon contact with the droag, making sure it was truly gone before turning and exiting the cave. It would be a long walk back to the town of Oak and another trip to the church itself.  After said journey, Shichiro had received his payment from the Bishop for the both of them instructing Seika to wait outside in order to give him his portion upon return as he didn't want to ignite any further conflict between them.

Seeing his superiors nonchalance at the threat eased Seika's fears as the man deemed it not nearly as much as a threat as Seika thought it would be. Frowning in thought, he'd glance over at the man as he calmly held up a palm facing in the direction of the monster, magical energy appearing at the end of the limb as a magic circle appeared. Finding the situation rather tame for what he had initially felt was going to be the beginning of an eldritch showdown, Seika couldn't help but feel just a bit let down, but of course an easy job was an easy job, and he had no busy complaining about what was essentially free money.

Priming the arrow even more, he'd unleash it at the groaning Droag just as his superior would unleash a barrage of magical orbs. Notching and firing a large amount of arrows himself, he could no longer see the Droag as it was buried under a proverbial mountain of continuous fire and magic. Eventually he could no longer hear the Droag as well. Realizing this, he'd finally stop firing and would notice that Shichiro had also stopped some time ago.

Standing up out of his firing position, he'd look over at the blasted wall that was all that remained of the freakish Droag. Normally he'd have some thought or emotion about the mission, but honestly he was still drained from his earlier contemplation over his actions in the church. Seeing that Shichiro had already started to walk away and taking that as a dismissal, the lumbering man would make his way out of the cave quietly, deep within his own thoughts.
